Really appreciate showing non-first world countries. A lot of people just don't understand that most computer parts become unaffordable where them have to be imported and marked up and worked for with outside currency. It's really eye-opening to actually know this struggle and I am glad you included it.
very true! i have a friend, in his area an old xeon and a 7700 prebuilt is $600cad! its honestly cheaper and wiser for someone like me or someone in america to be a middleman to buy and ship them the parts.
they're marked up because they can be. All the computer parts are made in taiwan/china, with the exception of silicon where some chips are made in some countries but still, its all assembled in china before it is shipped out. Due to corruption and greed, even countries where it should be cheaper due to lower overheads and transport end up costing more than the US.
7:37 the part where he plugs the display cable into the motherboard, to use the integrated GPU as a way to troubleshoot the graphics card is such good detail. I could probably rewatch this video like 20 times and still not catch them all. Great job man, been keeping an eye on your channel ever since that initial boost from the CSGO video.
I loved that detail the most because when I first built my first PC, the GPU wasn't working and using the integrated GPU on my CPU was my first move and it worked, god DAMN those memories
This was phenomenal! I highly appreciated the fact that you went the extra mile to get it translated into multiple languages and added subtitles for other languages. This was one of the best crash course video on getting started with buying computers ♥️

Your videos feel like a window into a long lost era of the internet. Everything about your style of animation and sense of humour brings me back to a simple and free era of the internet that I only got to see the very tail end of. Sometimes I wish I was born just a couple of years earlier so I could have seen the peak of newgrounds, ragecomics, stick fights ect. I hate what the internet has become and what TH-cam has done to animators. Please don't give up. Every time I go back and rewatch this video it makes me really happy :)
This is the video that made me get a prebuilt. 3 months later, replaced the GPU/PSU upgraded ram, and got better cooling. Without this vid, I would have just bought another gaming laptop. Thank you so much!
watching your content makes me so happy man, i love the flipnote stick figure style being used to explain things and it's always so expressive and funny. usually i don't give a shit about hardware, i could probably run the shitty games and programs i play on any laptop around 500$ but this video makes me appreciate it and see how much of a difference it can make. and it's a shame how creative stuff like this is so punished nowadays, i wish you could make videos for as long as you wanted to and not have to worry about it.
I know it isn't much, but I just wanted to show some appreciation. You're genuinely one of the best youtubers I know, and I love watching your videos. I've always loved stickman content, and finding your channel has been a blessing. Keep up the good work, man. I love your videos. Maybe I'll run into you in csgo or something lol
I found this video on one of those tik tok theft pages... I instantly loved the content. I don't have much to give but if it means you get more chances at creating, it's definitely worth a price. Seeing people as talented as you being taken advantage of is horrific. Stay strong king ... You dropped this 👑
Your animations are lively and you've brought great value to many peoples' lives. I'm just a college student who worked summer, so I'll just throw this money to you for showing me how to clean my (4 GB??) temp file. I appreciate your unique outlook on the world with your edginess but desire to help others / otherwise just see people not get screwed over + a genuine understanding of the different experiences of people around the world. Long live CS Ghost
Dude, your animations are awesome, and I wish TH-cam wasn’t garbage about paying people. I’ve been trying to figure out PC’s so I can probably do school, but I don’t know where to start. I was gonna get a laptop, but this has made me reconsider, especially with the fact that if I’m smart, I can get something good that won’t financially destroy me.
I did at first think about a good laptop, but then i saw an ad for hardware on sale somewhere, and then i turned to pc instead. the budget was 1.4k-1.7k but became 1.9k (my dad paid some of it) though i didnt rly mind. had plenty money anyways
Desktop PC is the reason I'm a musician, 3D cad modeler, Sound technician, game programmer, electronics designer, AV-repair technician etc. etc. etc.... I got my first desktop that I built myself back in 2000, I had desktop before that, but that I built myself, I was 13 years old. I've owned TWO laptops during my 36 years, but 7 desktops, that I've always built myself. One of them is ~16 years old, and I) still have them around since there's nothing wrong with them, they're just old. But they still work fine. I've owned 3 completely new desktops with new parts and all others have been from used parts or mix. Since used parts are completely fine for stuff I do. Only way I'd buy top tier thing would be if I had direct plan on making more money with all that computing power (WORK!), but most of it is for education and hobbies and when I've needed computer for work, it has never been something that needs top tier stuff. I need mostly CPU and RAM for what I do. My peripherals and supporting equipment (high end audio interface, my main display, my NAS, my speakers, table) are way WAY more expensive even On their own than my PC itself. My current PC is worth ~1200€, but my audio interface was ~1500€, NAS (backups, mass storage) has >1000€ in just for all the high end hard drives and spares, display was 1200€ top tier IPS (contrast, viewing angles, color reproduction, not speed) etc. just the studio table I built myself has 600€ in materials in it + all the work I did... but it's purpose built since It would have cost me like 2500-3000€ for a ready made one with those features etc. And that's how it is with work stuff and 99.9% of things. PC itself is rarely the focus, it's everything around and how it's setup it if one wants to get stuff done. If one's a student, they can get by with 1000€ desktop PC EASILY! Just get good mouse, good keyboard, good display,... make the case silent and lose the RGB shit... computer is supposed to be silent, invisible and just WORK :)
@@3c0746 if you spend your free time doing stuff like I described here, that's what happens. Like what happened to me. I've never been a person who just watched YT or plays games with all of their free time. Unless I'm depressed, which I have been time to time. If I never were depressed, who knows what skills or to what level I had time to practice. I kinda realized that doing "productive" stuff as a hobby makes me happy so it's difficult to not do projects and to read about topics of interest etc. and over the years you tent to become somewhat good at things you do every day :) And it's amazing that we have these computers and all the software freely available these days to learn these skills that were previously only for those who worked at a companies or went to universities. So it would be criminal not to learn these skills... and internet gives me access to vast amounts of knowledge for basically any question :)
Bro seriously, I’m so happy you got the success that you have earned. Keep on doing what you’re doing. God bless and I hope everything is well with you and your family.
The amount of detail in this video is insane I’ve watched this video about 40+ times and I’m STILL noticing things I didn’t notice the first time around! Very well made and thank you for helping me learn computers!
Haven't been on your channel too long. But watching every frame of your professional editing and animation is way too much work to go unnoticed. Keep it up, you'll do amazing things as you already have!
Officially my 10th time watching this. Can't get enough of the animation quality and the thorough yet quick explanations. Keep up the quality content man! If you ever make a Patreon lmk I would be beyond happy to sub to it.
I was pleasantly surprised that an animated video that was intended to mostly be funny was also very factually accurate. BTW, my main system is ~9 year old FX-8350, 32GB 1866, R7 360 2GB, and lots of SATA SSDs and HDDs. I would like to build a Ryzen 5900X system this year with 64GB DDR4, which I am confident would last me 10 years. I'll have to see where prices go, the economy, etc. The important thing is that my current system is still good enough for me(I don't play AAA games; mostly just retro emulation stuff).
@@SirReptitious let me give you an opinion. Price/perfomance wise building a computer for 8-10 years is not a great idea. Technological progress is moving very fast, and highest end pc parts of today will be matched/outperformed by budget ones in a couple of generations. Buying a high end part now you're paying a big premium and just in 2-3 years budget parts will perform the same. In 4-6 years budget parts will greatly outperform an old system and their cost + cost of budget parts from 6 years ago will be lower. So, if you dont need high end parts now, its financially better to just buy budget ones and upgrade your pc when you'll feel like your one isn't performing well enough anymore. Its especially true now, when development of quantum computers is going and any pc from now might become literally obsolete, when quantum ones will roll out
@@elickson7340 Literally isn't. I'd have more privacy under Communism than under consoomer Capitalist. They at least made jokes about saying something to your electrical socket and KGB would respond. Here's the weird and utterly appalling mindset of "well you don't need privacy to begin with" preying on the narcissism of modern people, coupled with "who cares if police/NSA/megacorps spy on me through my webcam so let them watch me masturbate." Just that one alone. It's this disgusting, utterly defeated attitude of paying for your shackles and spyware, with the bizarre cognitive dissonance of at once recognizing the universal surveillance state with a "so what" while also telling themselves "nah it doesn't really happen." Then you try telling people to at least cover their webcams and they call you crazy for it. At least in Russia they might not say I'm insane for saying "let us go somewhere private." My boomer parent literally told me they thought it was nuts I did that, then that person started doing it after Mark Zuckerburg was caught doing it. I asked said boomer parent why: "well, I heard the owner of Facebook did it and he's a tech owner guy so I figured he must know what he's doing." That's just a tiny summation of that one thing, surveillance and privacy, and I can write a literal book on everything else, including the increasing awareness of the citizenry that we don't actually have any political freedom in this country, but they're too psychologically and mentally neutered to recognize the real reasons why or who's doing it, and even if they do, come up with some psychotic response demanding more of the same, like having armed soldiers patrolling schools. Did the Soviet Union ever have all its schools patrolled by soldiers? No. But people here don't have a problem turning our schools into gulags apparently, so that by the time K-12 is done the young adult literally won't have a way even to conceive of what the word "freedom" really means, instead settling down into their consumer/worker drone lifestyle in a box under a police state. The problem is, the few who recognize this is what's been happening are far too stupid to realize it's not Marxism, but literally the opposite of it, which is unrestrained corporate Capitalism that's doing it, but again see "mentally and psychologically castrated citizenry" remark, where instead they call the FBI "Marxist" or the corporations themselves "Marxist" because they've been trained since birth to not have a clue what they're talking about anymore. Capitalism is fucking garbage. So is Communism and fascism. But the last guy with a Maoist style personality cult was allegedly a Capitalist, yes? So what even is the difference at this point, beyond in the one my labours are being parasitized by a useless class of elites who don't work, and the other I at least don't have to pay rent?))))

I was gonna get a laptop as a bday gift but since I wanna work in unreal engine/ develop my own games(and don’t want my laptop to explode just booting stuff up), I’ve basically gotten talked into spending the money on a pc and keeping my old dell since it’s competent enough to run what I need for college. Do you have any recommendations?
Okay, few things. First off, awesome vid as always! Know I say that alot, but dammit, it's true! Second, yeah monetizing your work online's a bitch these days. Best thing I could recommend is, if you do decide on doing a patreon, you could just leave the exclusive content to WIP's and releasing videos early. Seems to be working for mine, and it's probably the best suited for high-effort projects like this.
Love the style, and you won me over with the "It's TH-cam" line. This channel is one of the places that still feel like the old youtube. It sucks that the platform wont support its creators, especially ones doing unique and high quality work.

The video was so interesting and filled with jokes that made my day! The animation was so smooth and enjoyable that I would honestly pay to watch more of these videos! It must be tough to make such a video not even knowing if you would make a fraction of the revenue that would cover this amount of effort spent, but i truly enjoyed every last bit of this animation and I look forward to watching your next masterpiece!
This video / animation is literally a gem comparing it to the other videos that the platform recommends to its users. Here, you made a video talking about computers while telling what consumers should be consider when they want to purchase a computer device (phone, laptop, desktop). For instance, the cooler size (which plays a huge role in laptops and desktops in order to keep the parts in order), the "Right To Repair" mention (consumers pretty much purchase devices and they can do whatever they want with them, even if that means using aftermarket parts to repair them or taking their devices to non-certified local shops in order to repair them at an affordable price). Also, you happen to cover other important aspects of the topic, but these happened to be the most important to me. Furthermore, the animation style is perfect and you've put attention to every detail of the video. Like, the "Hard Drive Defragment" and "Delete Temporary Files". Lastly, I'd like to say that you earned another subscriber with this video. I tell you, it's gold. Hope you get the recognition you deserve and hope your videos get shown more and more in "TH-cam's Homepage" more and more.
I rarely comment, but I use this clip to give my friends an idea of what they actually need, and what direction to take. Also, excellent humor + the critical concept of Right to Repair are covered here in a fun way. Thanks for the high-quality clip.
I knew a little about this subject, and when I saw how TH-cam payment system works I had to give atleast the 1% of the money that this video will surely help me save, youre doing a great job out here showing people the important things about theirs PCs.

Never touched animation, but the way these videos are fast paced, super smooth at times, and have so much going on at once is something i am amazed only one peraon is doing. Not to mention the research, the script, and a whole freaking airflow render.

Anytime I'm trying to teach someone the perks of building your own PC I immediately pull up this video for them. Also, I just watch it every once in a while to cure a little depression. You're awesome, and your videos are awesome.
He only briefly touched on it but I really wanna talk about this, seriously: Emulators are the best! Most games people emulate you can't even get anymore so piracy would be equal to getting it second hand when it comes to supporting devs. Not only can you make games run as well as the system it was on, but sometimes better! As someone with an actual gaming PC, I mainly just emulate PS2 games and it's awesome. That's not even mentioning the fact that emulators can have rom hacks and mods that completely change the game or have brand new control schemes. Did you know that by using dolphin you can play metroid prime with a mouse and keyboard? Cool right! Main point I'm getting at is emulation is awesome and there's tons of tutorials and how to's on youtube to get you into it.
@@ruffrack737 I disagree and think it's amazing. PS3 emulation was iffy back in 2019 (for demons souls in my case), nowadays it's on point. 360 with xenia but lots of stuff from both XB on windows already anyway, wiiU with cemu, 3ds with citra (on mobile too), switch on yuzu and that other one, ppsspp and the greatest dolphin both also on mobile. And those are all the newest ones, everything older is near flawless. For sure some newer stuff takes beefy cpu, I'm on a 3D dev desktop but that's really only gonna affect people for wiiU, 360, ps3 and switch, with everything older good to go on medium tier hardware
Dolphin also supports stereoscopic rendering, and while I doubt anyone actually owns a 3d monitor, if you have VR, you can experience games in depth. Citra (3ds emulator) supports stereoscopic rendering too, so you can fully experience the games that took advantage of the 3ds screen.
The fact that this video took you 15 months to make is not surprising at all. The level of detail and work you put into this video will hold a permanent memory in my brain. I aspire to create great works of art as you do
So to summarize: 1. Mobile devices are not alternatives to desktop computers, and never will be. They are designed for lightweight apps, internet browsing, and communication via voice and SMS. They cannot run AAA games, CAD software, or IDEs. If you splurge on one, or buy one INSTEAD of a PC, you are an idiot. 2. Avoid laptops, they age poorly. Especially since most of them have integrated graphics chips, bloatware, and intentionally shoddy heat dispersion. 3. Consoles are deceptively expensive. Games cost more due to licensing fees, and you have to pay extra money just to play online. Overall, more expensive than PC gaming. 4. If you absolutely must get a laptop, your best bet is one with dedicated graphics. It may be heavier and consume more power, but that's a small price to pay for one that's actually halfway decent. 5. Apple devices are overpriced, underpowered pieces of shit that are designed to self-destruct and be as difficult as possible to repair. Do not bother with them, period. 6. Your second best bet is a prebuilt computer (again, with dedicated graphics). Don't be fooled by the fact that it's pre-built, you still gotta maintain it and take care of it, even if the only thing you do is to open it up and clean it. 7. Ideally, you should build your own computer. Even beginners could potentially do this with the help of PC Parts Picker or some other website.
Apple computers are underpowered? Lmao the m1 beats out most windows laptops in its price range(unless ur talking about the intel ones, which yeah they were overpriced underpowered pieces of shit, which are not even sold now anyway)

This video is like you were thinking of what to put in the video and it was one of the adhd brain tangents that I have, and then that was the final script - and I’m not complaining. Honestly it was a really captivating video that explained this in a really funny way. I honestly have one of those “gaming” laptops that sets itself on fire at every opportunity, and while I’m in a weird transitional period where it wouldn’t be practical to build a computer, this did make it seem a lot simpler than I thought it was. This is a really high quality video and I love when creators put in this much effort, I just agree with you that I wish they got fairly compensated for it. Yeah, it was perfect! Absolutely everyone has a reason to hate on these extremely greedy corporation for one way or another, and it's an absolutely extreme thing to do. I'm glad European Union is pushing for Rights on Repair. I hope more countries do that as well, if the combined market of EU, China, and India (as well as their areas of influence) force the RTR, I doubt US corporations will be continuing with their predatory schemes - because they will be forced to make everything for two very different markets.

This is my first time ever getting one of these and I did it before even coming down into the comments to see everyone else doing the same! Your work is super inspiring and high quality, and the animation is so nostalgic, used to spend hours watching flipnotes as a kid. You should definitely make a patreon!
Jesus, never seen a 12 minute animation of those level of quality from such a relatively small channel, and amazing sound design? Never expected anything about sound design to be good but this is amazing! And voice acting too! Damn
As a long-time computer enthusiast, holy fucking shit. This is hilariously accurate and the details are on point especially that cooling render part you did. Good vid dude!
I used to do art for social media/teaching on my TH-cam channel (as well as TT, Patreon, Webtoon... the grind was awful), I also hardly made anything from it (and TH-cam takes like 30% of the thanks/superthanks as well) so I have a lot of empathy. I'm a professional animator and game art lead in PA now, so I know how much time goes into making a video like this, along with the comp and voiceover. You make really good videos, they're funny af and educational at the same time. I wish you luck in finding a good balance where making your videos is both profitable to you and doesn't burn you out, it can be hard. Thank you for all the stuff you've made so far!
11:20 I'm still mad at TH-cam for removing community captions. So many communities of TH-camrs with international audiences just got shafted when they removed CC. And they removed it on DEAF AWARNESS MONTH! So yeah TH-cam sucks and thanks for including translated captions. Keep up the great content.
I will be forever mad about this. I didn't even know they removed it on Deaf awareness month. So like 1 person abuses it, and then that's it for everyone.
Let me just say this...the video was freakin GREAT! Taught me a lot about PC's in a more creative way might I add. Keep posting awesome content whenever you can. We'll be supporting you through thick and thin.

All the computer parts are made in taiwan/china, with the exception of silicon where some chips are made in some countries but still, its all assembled in china before it is shipped out. Due to corruption and greed, even countries where it should be cheaper due to lower overheads and transport end up costing more than the US.

@@pandemicneetbux2110 true, but still better than communism
I asked said boomer parent why: "well, I heard the owner of Facebook did it and he's a tech owner guy so I figured he must know what he's doing."
That's just a tiny summation of that one thing, surveillance and privacy, and I can write a literal book on everything else, including the increasing awareness of the citizenry that we don't actually have any political freedom in this country, but they're too psychologically and mentally neutered to recognize the real reasons why or who's doing it, and even if they do, come up with some psychotic response demanding more of the same, like having armed soldiers patrolling schools.

He only briefly touched on it but I really wanna talk about this, seriously:
Emulators are the best!
@@ruffrack737 shut up nerd.
Just because pro soccer league 2009 doesn't run well on an emulator doesn't mean all of emulation is shit.
You would NEVER see Nintendo 64 games with Cel-Shading if it wasn't because of emulators!

I aspire to create great works of art as you do
So to summarize:
Even beginners could potentially do this with the help of PC Parts Picker or some other website.
yo this comment actually got pinned, it had to, was too usefull for it to not be pinned

Damn this is a golden comment
Knowing that my 2k spend on my computer and monitor was a solid A makes me happy that I did that. It's a fun little machine, and gets the job done
Also, thanks for the vid, CS. Thanks to Graduation, I have some spare change that I usually don't have. Keep on keeping on, CS.
oooo thank you for the donation!!!
I really like your work . Please keep it up ! Your humor and animations are amazing !
Keep making stuff, and I’ll keep watching it. Best regards,
Helium-3
Glad you're back. Keep up with the awesome animations!
Cousin works for boeing as a machinist and your video on the topic is so pinpoint accurate and funny. there were several parts I just went "yep" or "sounds familiar" to it was great.
This isn't much but I just wanted to contribute. Hope you keep doing the awesome animations!!
Man, I wish there was a PT-BR translation of this video. It really is a good explanation, and I would like to share it with some Brazilian friends who don't understand English.
I really enjoyed this one. Keep it up.

Dude, awesome. There's so much more going on, both in the script and the animation, compared to other animation story time channels. (if thats even comparable haha)
Keep it up man, we won't mind the wait times between uploads!
I love the bit at 5:11 because it shows that anyone from any part of the political compass supports the right to repair. The only people who don’t are the ones who benefit from all this. Very cool scene!
I'm seven fucking minutes into this video, the effort you put into this is amazing. Even the muffling from the gas mask to the CAD models really blew me away. I have a hard time watchign youtube anymore because my algorithm tries leaning hard into what I'm INTERESTED in. Nothing I really appreciate pops up as often, but your channel is genuinely fun to watch. Thank you for doing this.
A great video I can send to my friends that won't take 1 hour long to explain what they should get for their college classes.
Incredible to see Louis Rossman appear and such a high quality video. Keep it up man, I'm a fan for life!
(translate this) Este video es un excelente resumen de mis primeras 2 horas de conversación con cualquier persona que me pregunta sobre computadoras. La calidad de producción del video es sobresaliente.

Im actually so mad that TH-cam keeps screwing you over, I watched your content months ago and stopped receiving any notifications of you uploading. You deserve so much more praise from the work you put into the videos you make. Thanks for the amazing stuff, I hope to keep seeing you around. Stay frosty.
thank you :)))
Going for the dream goal of trying a custom built-pc. Thanks for the video!

Hey, I actually forgot, but this video was a great inspiration for me to build my own computer, thank you so much for this video. Now 8 months later, I finally completed building my PC, it's not the best but I'm really happy with it, and also, amazing video man, I really hope to see tons more in the future!

@@CSGhostAnimation literally this was one of the best videos i have watched in a while, please keep doing what you're doing because people, including myself, love it so much and it's really what we need.
Honestly one of the most entertaining TH-cam videos i’ve watched to date.

Dude you're a blessing, having put 15 months into this excellently crafted animation video. Funny, hidden jokes, actually educational, and freaking awesome animation skills. Dude, I hope that people appreciate your work more and understand the value of it. I always watch your videos cause they help me through the day and help educate me about topics you discuss. I give you my best regards and hope you blow up and are able to make more money and videos in the future. Keep it up for now and you will get through this and stand higher than you ever have before.
My brothers made me my computer with their spare parts and a few new things for Christmas in 2019. They always upgrade their computers and let me have the old parts. It's been 5 years and I have a cool ass Frankenstein computer and I love it. I'm truly grateful for it :D
This is my first time ever getting one of these and I did it before even coming down into the comments to see everyone else doing the same! Your work is super inspiring and high quality, and the animation is so nostalgic, used to spend hours watching flipnotes as a kid. You should definitely make a patreon!

I love that this guy can make an educational video, but make it silly at the same time
11:20 I'm still mad at TH-cam for removing community captions.
That’s rough buddy
Let me just say this...the video was freakin GREAT! Taught me a lot about PC's in a more creative way might I add.
Keep posting awesome content whenever you can.
We'll be supporting you through thick and thin.

this deserves to blow up. It's great how the internet has made all sorts of independent art endeavors monetizable... except it's a shame nothing like that exists for videogames and animation. Your work is stellar and informative!
