I have a full leg/arm sleeve, full chest done, partical ribs, the KNEE was definitely a pretty terrible spot. The fact that it was a 7 hour session definitely didn't help (Gaint lotus flower). But that was definitely the worst one. Pro tip, don't go beyond 3/4 hour sessions, you run out of adrenaline and it really starts to hurt. All tattoos, some more than others are going to hurt. The pain is temporary, the tattoo lasts forever. Understand you have to "earn" each tattoo in a way, enjoy the experience.
I’m a paramedical tattoo artist and the Areola/nipple tattoo is definitely a sensitive area! For my job it really varies based on if the client has had a mastectomy, breast augmentation/lift etc… for some the feeling is completely gone. Obviously every artist and shop is different in regards to numbing, but I use anesten cream if needed and it really helps the discomfort, especially for the more mature women whom have never had any other tattoos. Love all your vids and reading everyone’s comments! None of my tattoos were too bad, the ribs for me had that ticklish armpit feeling you were talking about, but I’ve been getting laser removal on it and WOW it feels like pouring hot cooking oil on your skin.
A 2.5 hour session on my armpit made me see god in 4 different religions, and I'm an atheist. My nipples were my least painful tattoos by far, but that may be because of the style of tattoo I went with. I could see getting them blacked out sucking (but hey, at least it's usually a pretty small area)
I didn't feel mine. But I didn't feel my shin either. There's numb parts on my body that for some reason have deadened or no sensation. It's weird but it's always been like that.
The chest and sternum was by far the worst for me so I'm glad you mentioned it as #1. I had other tattoos done before and knew I could handle them but the moment the needle first hit my chest I knew it was about to be a very long, painful 5-6 hours for me lol. Felt my soul leave my body at a few points, especially at the collarbones and sternum. The vibrations make it feel like someone is cutting you open.
I’m doing a huge chest piece I only got half of my chest and it’s not finished took about 6 hours I’ve been hesitant to go back to it I’ll be finishing this side up in a few weeks even with numbing cream you can feel the chest
I’ve never heard the word nipple so much in my life 🎯😂. I think this was the most comical video I’ve seen from this channel, it’s always a good time when something makes me laugh lmao.
I'm getting my first tattoo this Friday with my sister in-law and I can't wait. I'm so excited but knew I needed to do a little more research on the pain in certain areas and the healing process. I'm so happy I found you're channel this has been such helpful information ❤
Places that I wasn't expecting to hurt are wrist, ankle, and forearm. I'm on the skinny side, so my forearm is bony as hell, and call me a wimp, but I took every break in that 5 hour session and I was shaking. 😭
I didn't need a break when I got my forearm, but burned really bad. It felt like I got a sunburn and it healed like when I was healing after a sunburn.
I just finished up my rib tattoo, it took a 3 1/2 hour session, 4 hour session, and one last hour session to finish it up. It’s amazing and I’d go through it again, but it was one of the most painful experiences I’ve had
My shins were worse than my knees, but I’d say your list is pretty accurate; move 1-4 to 2-5, and that spot at the bottom of the sternum (solar plexus) is the most painful for me. By far.
A little backstory. When I was a kid, I survived a car accident where a van reversed over my arm, which left my arm with a pretty gnarly keloid scar. So w hen I was getting my sleeve done a few years ago, when my artist went into the ditch of that arm, that pain felt like a sensation I have never endured in my entire life.
Just got a chest piece today, just a little ornament in the centre, less than 2 hours, all blackwork. Mostly a 4 or 5 out of 10, pain-wise, but the flipping sternum was a 10 out of 10. I felt like I was being stabbed with lava knives, with electrical shocks radiating out in waves. The weirdest part was how small the painful spot was, and how the area around it wasn't nearly as painful. I'd be vibing along to the music, feeling ok, then the needle passed over my sternum and everything turned to red static. My calf was my most painful tattoo, because that was 7.5 hours of mid-to-high pain with lots of colour-packing, but the sternum was the absolute worst as far as sheer pain goes.
Lower back near love handle was the absolute worst pain ive felt. I have a huge black cross on my ribcage and i can say that the love handle area made the ribs feel like a picnic in the park
I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I just scheduled a consultation for a new piece. I found your channel as I was researching, and it has been immensely helpful in regards to choosing an artist and treating them professionally in turn. Good stuff.
I was 17 turning 18 apprenticing at a hole in the wall shop called “dark horse” in TN that’s long gone now. My “teacher” was an opiate junkie that had me doing drug runs 3 to 4 times a day. Had to get out of there. Shortly after, a friend asked if he could purchase my machine and power supply. He turned out to be an amazing tattoo artist and is in Nashville. Sean Drennen, is his name. He has done all my work. I let him do whatever he wants/pick art that he has already drawn up. I just want to be a blank canvas for him. Well it’s October 2014 and he wants to blast my ribs. I’m down. This is the biggest tattoo he had ever done up until then on anyone. It goes into my pit slightly, past the waist line, and wraps from my back slightly to my stomach/chest (he whipped my nipple on purpose just for the laughs lol, that bastard) but that was 3 sessions 9 hours each. We are on the last session doing color and we always have the tv on or radio and Remember it’s October, so tv is on and we are like 8 hours in… some horror movie came on without us noticing and it gets into some long drawn out violin staccato shit, creating all this anxiety/suspense and we both said wtf let’s change this lol. It was terrible. We were both just so in it not noticing what was going on making the moment so much more intense. Good times though. My stomach seams very sensitive and I think that would be the worst. Anyway I hope this is fun for someone to read. I haven’t told that story many times.
I have almost my entire thigh tattooed in the process of a leg sleeve. Just got the knee and hoo boy…you know you’re in for some shit when multiple artists in the shop don’t have their knees tattooed.
I got my first tattoo this May on my chest/ boob/ under boob/ sternum area. Went into the shop and started chatting with some girls and some tattoo artists the faces they gave me when I told them about my tattoo were a mix of pity and disbelief. I got high pain tolerance so I know I'm solid but I also understood it's a fucking needle. The whole tattoo went fine, I sat like a rock like I cussed under my breath a little but all was going well. Till my tattoo artist reached the lower sternum part like right above your stomach area. It felt like the needle was carving into my fucking bones, it was also white ink which my tattoo artist hurts more, a fucking nightmare. I didn't stop her tho cause it was still, to a point, bearable but definitely made me think about my life and how my choices led me to this moment. A full existential crisis. Haha, no regrets tho it turned out badass.
I have two full arm sleeves, full chest sleeve (only the nipples are blank), and almost two full leg sleeves. Never tapped out due to pain, but my chest area was the worst. It felt like like open heart surgery, I was sweating profusely and squeezing my hands together as hard as I can. Second worst pain was the knee, third worst was the shin.
I'm fairly covered in tattoos. So far the most painful place I've had was my collarbone, trap muscle area. Especially cause I'm skinny. So when my artist got to the part where its in between the neck, trap muscle, collarbone area, that was pure agony. It was terrible.
@jasonsensation46 I'm not done with mine. It's a pretty big piece. And my artist only had time to do the layout and some of the general shading. I'm trying to work up the courage to go back. I've never had a body part make me hesitant. Between my ribs, elbows, knee, spine, neck, eye lids etc. Definitely reminds me that, though I'm a seasoned veteran at sitting through tattoos, I am not impervious to pain. I guess somehow in the bank of my mind I was hoping each tattoo would act as a sort of Zenkai boost towards pain and I would slowly become invincible. Lol.
Think I must be wired strangely because I didn't find my sternum/chest all that bad - though I totally get the 'hot grease' comparison. But my inner upper arm was really, really bad! For me I think the style of the tattoo is as much of a factor as the placement - I find repeated shading on the same area a struggle.
Just did this last night, most painful When he was shading my moms hair by my pit. I was literally biting my arm through my sweater and my body was like a plank of wood. This started 30 mins in. Hours later, I felt hungover. But stoked af And I agree sternum, wrist, elbow etc. Didn't really hurt at all
Sternum felt like my skeleton was being ripped out but very glad to have sat through it, now I know I can handle other painful areas. Yeah I thought the elbow was bad but it's nothing. Hand and foot were easy.
Thats wild my first tat was on my sternum & every other one you mentioned followed those but not exactly in that order but i knew it was an abnormal type of pain when getting them.. thanks for the confirmation so i know im not crazy
I have 12 tattoos, chest, arms, shoulder and shoulder blade, side of my left leg and then back of my calf on my right leg. For me the worst pain was the back of my calf, the whole time was painful.
A lot of ppl rank the back of the calf pretty high. I think it is one of those areas that can go either way for an individual. For me it was easy. But I know some touch mfers that say it is the worst for them
I currently have no tattoos and am strongly considering getting something on my rib and the thigh on the opposite side. I think my pain tolerance is good but I'm a little concerned about getting in over my head...
Hey James, nice vid! Speaking of pain, I was wondering if you could do a video on how to deal with hand pain when tattooing, or learning how to tattoo (hoping you haven't yet). I've been an artist and a powerlifter simultaneously for the last ten years, so I've always dealt with a tiny amount aches in my right hand, but I recently started learning tattooing in the last couples months, and those aches have gotten increasingly worse. I know that lifting heavy weights in the gym doesn't help, and I'm probably going to stop that soon, but I figured that tattoo artists that don't even powerlift deal with the same issues. Appreacite any help brother, keep at it!
Worst tattoo placements with pain I've had done are Sternum, ribs + areola, inner bicep, lower back and shins. I've had both elbows in colour and ditchs done and wasn't too bad.
I have almost a full Japanese body suit, the only part left are my ribs (getting them soon). For me the most painful experiences so far were my chest and back, and the area behind my knees was painful too.
Sternum is RIGHT! I just got mine (halfway) done 2 days ago… and I was asking the same question! (Is he doing something different?! Did he change the needle?!)… hurt like a bee itch!
My first tattoo was on my inner bicep. No one told me how painful it was gonna be, I'm sure the artist didn't tell me on purpose lol. It was so painful that the rest I've gotten since then have all been on my outer arms, but now I've got an idea to match the other inner bicep, so I'm gonna have to suck it up eventually.
I just did the stomach, and it hits my lower ribs on both sides. I honestly can’t even describe the pain. It’s literally torture. I have the top of my sternum tattooed and it was nowhere near the pain of the ribs.
Have my back, chest, stomach, arms and hands done. Stomach is for sure my worst. Arms and back were nothing. Chest was alright, sternum hurts but it's bearable. Hands were meh a lot better than I thought. Legs are next for me, looking fwd to it!
My ribs were soooooooooo much easier than my knee. Granted it was a quicker tattoo (2ish hours vs 7, only one session each). I expected my ribs to be really difficult because they're an extra sensitive part of my body, but even my artist said it was the easiest rib tattoo they'd done in a long time in terms of how well I sat. It was actually a really chill experience. (Taking the second skin off it was another story. That hurt worse than getting the tattoo!) My knee I traveled for 2 months later and I wouldn't have survived the whole day session if it weren't for Bactine and even so I was basically sobbing without the tears deciding if I could stomach the white highlights during the same session, but I did and it turned out awesome.
I have a piece from below my collar bone that goes down to my waist on my right side. 3, 2 hour sessions worth. That was the most pain I've ever been in for any Tattoo I've ever gotten. 🥴😵😵💫
i got the inside of my upper arm tattooed and there was about half an inch that crossed into armpit territory, not even in the depth of the armpit itself but hitting the nerves associated with it, and that was surprisingly intense. the difference between that section and the rest of the tattoo was night and day.
My most painful area was the achillis heel (sorry if I spelled it wrong english is my second languege) I have 5 tattoo's now. Getting my foot tattoo'd next week
Got a huge peice of knotwork on my chest took about 10+ hours. The center chest felt like someone was cutting me with a rusty electric fillet knife. It up there with getting a root canal with no pain killer
im going crazy trying to find the brain scan tattoo that you briefly showed in one of your videos and how your background in medical work helped you do it accurately
I hope my shin will be easy af. Getting my left done in January. But I also did my knee in one 7 hour day session, so hopefully I'll be fine regardless. 🥲
I went from a small tattoo on my back that was pretty close to painless, to a chest tattoo on my right breast that hit my sternum and nipple. I very much underestimated it.
I just got my first tattoo this past weekend, I got a full chest piece with a portion of it going down my sternum toward my stomach. It was about 9 hours and it was the most painful thing I’ve ever been through but at the same time it wasn’t that bad. It was bearable. The last 2-2.5 hours were pretty brutal tho lol
@@sitructv3672 it was very painful, anytime somebody ask me about tattoo pain I will tell them that if they were driving down the road, chilling on the couch or at their desk and felt that pain out of nowhere you would run to get away from it as fast as possible. But in your head if you know this is for a tattoo and you can make peace with it and are determined to get the tattoo then it’s bearable. The pain isn’t a deterrent for me as much as money is. Good tattoos are expensive!
Lindsay Dorman did first tattoo it was a giant owl chest piece. The sternum defiantly was the most painful. I like knowing the rest of my tattoos won’t hurt as much.
I always have people asking me how bad the elbow hurt, and I always tell them, not as bad as the Sternum did. Man, I couldn't even breathe when I got the sternum done, I could barely sit still for that part.
Love, love my tattoo artist! She works so quickly that even if it hurts, I know it won’t last long. I got a lower leg sleeve done and worst area was near the knee. And I noticed the back of the leg was more uncomfortable than the front. Victoria always asks me if I hate her yet when she’s in a sensitive area. 😂 Never! She says she loves how I sit so well. Working on the other leg now.
I only have one tattoo so far, which I got done 15 years ago, so I barely even remember my pain getting that one done. But I remember it only hurt in some areas and that I could sit still and be quiet without problem. Now I have an appointment coming up for my second tattoo, and although it'll mostly be on my calf, it will go down on my foot a bit and also up on my knee. I kinda hoped the knee would not be on this list lol. But I hope it'll be managable, as I'm not getting the whole knee done. Just a little bit on one side of the knee cap where the shape of the image tapers off. I've been wanting this piece done for years by now, so not gonna let some pain stop me. I'd say I have high pain tolerance, but all that really means is that I generally have good control in sitting still, being quiet, breathing well and not passing out, even when exposed to intense pain. It does not mean that I feel pain to any notably lesser degree than what I'd assume to be average, although after some time of consistent exposure to pain I seem to get used to it and go a little numb. So, my "high pain tolerance" basically just means I'll look like I'm not feeling anything but internally I'm crying and screaming lol, which is a skill I've acquired and has nothing to do with the nerves in my skin.
I have a tattoo I regret on my sternum/upper stomach that I want covered up, but the pain I experienced from the tattoo I have hurt so bad that that's the only reason I haven't got it covered yet. It's dark and will take alot to cover
Top of the ass cheek hurts, I have my whole back done. Ribs didn’t really phase me too bad but the elbow and right above the back of my calve just before the bend of your knee had me sweating.
The rib and chest were the worst. Next under side of the arms, then shoulder blades. One of my forearms because we did 8hrs one day then I went back the next day for 2-3 hours in the same area that night it felt like someone was breaking my arm all night so not the tattoo it self but the effects of working in one area 2 days in a row. ( was on leave and didn't know when I'd make it home again). The back of the calf was barely noticeable. The side of the calf wasn't bad either.
I got my hand & fingers tattooed over the weekend... It hurt a lot & it also took four hours to complete. My other spots were my sternum, thighs, below my knee.
I have a larger sternum tattoo (3 6 hour sessions) and the edge going onto the boob to the flat part of the sternum was the worst area I have had done. For me it was worse than the sides of my ribs.
So, I'm not heavily tattooed (I only have 3 medium-sized ones all on the same arm), but I'll share my experience anyway, because at least my experience covers a few different spots on the arm. For me, the outer bicep was the easiest by far. It's a meaty area, doesn't seem to have a lot of nerves close to the surface, no big deal. Next was the top of my outer forearm, which was kinda similar to the bicep. Just not a very sensitive area, not that big a deal. The last one I got was on the inner side of my lower forearm on the wrist area, and it was notably more painful that the other two. The inner wrist is a pretty sensitive area, the skin there is pretty thin, there are nerves running through there that are close to the surface (my pinky kept twitching involuntarily because of the nerves and tendons that run through there), so it's definitely a bit rougher than a lot of other areas of the arm in my experience so far.
I’ve had quite a bit of my body done. Throat, neck, arms, hands they were hardly painful at all. My worst tattoos was recently I had my stomach and hips done. I was 1hr in and wanted to tap out. I’ve never experienced so much pain in my life. I powered through though. Sat through a 6 hour tattoo and it’s so sick. Only problem is, I’m still quite bruised and it’s been just over a week.
I’m getting my stomach done within the next week and I’m curious on how the pain is. I have a smaller tattoo on my upper chest (sternum), and a couple other places done. But I’m just curious!
@@47piirate26 stomach fuckin hurts man. the lower it goes or the more on the side it goes, the more painful it is. was by far my worst 2 tattoos on each side of my stomach, my fingers hurt alot but not like my stomach
I have a WEAK pain tolerance. My first tattoo was on my ankle, it hurt but it was alright. Then I got my ribs done, right in that middle part you’re talking about, and holy freaking cow. 2.5 hours of torture but I sat through it… tbh, was comparable to labour (I was blessed to have a relatively easy labour). I want the other side done so bad but I’m terrified loool Got my upper bicep done, 8.5 hours, practically pain free in comparison. I was so surprised how easy it was
I just had a 9 hour session with 4 10 min breaks for a forearm sleeve and it was fkin torture. iv never wanted to die so bad lol. And the sleeve isnt even done its like 50% complete😭. Got most of my inner forearm done tho im pretty sure thats the most painful part of the fore arm so that's a relief. Im getting the rest done after the summer anyone got tips i look up to it so bad😭
I'm pretty heavily tattooed and have all of the areas mentioned in this video at least partially tattooed other than my knees. I have my neck, chest, arms, ribs, thighs, back and ass tattooed. For me personally the ribs weren't that bad, slightly worse than an arm tattoo if I had to compare. My neck obviously hurt a lot but I sat for 5.5 hours and did the entire thing in one shot so it definitely could have been worse. Nothing and I mean nothing came close to the pain of getting my back done and not just certain areas, the entire back. Some spots are definitely worse but the entire back was extremely painful. We usually did 3 hour sessions because that was pretty much my physical limit. I've never questioned if I'd be able to sit for a session in my life until I got my back done but I got through it, that is definitely a spot you have to earn.
I only have two forearm tattoos and one upper arm tattoo all pretty big. The bottom of the arm towards the wrist was awful just minutes on end of tracing and shading it was very painful
Got two blackwork traditional pieces on the tops of my feet done in the same day and by far that's the most painful spot I've gotten tattooed. Made me question every life decision that led to that moment lol
Great video btw! I would say the worst for me has to be the chest piece I have. 6-7 hour sesh non stop. All done in one day. I left my soul on that table lol😅
dude thank you for talking about nipples. it drives me CRAZY when i see photos on instagram of these beautiful full frontal chest and stomachs pieces (like a japanese body suite) and the nipples stick out like a sore thumb. just put them in a dark area and black them out! makes such a huge difference in the final product.
My personal top 3 are 1. Over my arm which was covered in a lot of old self harm scars. I legit cried a little 2. My shin. I had muscle spasms and it hurt like hell 3. Knee ditch. Started a big leg piece and when he went into the ditch I felt my soul leave my body
I think pain is relative. I have full sleeves on both arms, full front torso, full leg sleeves, ribs, neck, hands, and fingers. For me the most painful area was the backs of my calves.
I have my left rib, chest and thigh tattooed... they all hurt but I can't say which was worse - they all had their portions that absolutely hurt and some that were manageable.
ive been doing a full body suit.... one area that made my body jolt up off the table.... near the butt crack holy fuck that was intense... the knee was totally fine for me, direct on the knee was cool but the moment we went to the side of the knee and behind, that was pretty brutal
During this video I wanted to comment so bad but I waited for the whole video here is my input. Not and artist but I have some tattoos and one large full coverage chest piece witch happens to be a cover up from a very poorly executed jolly Rodger pirate chest piece. In a few weeks I’ll be getting my left side including ribs done 3 8hour sessions I watched this to get insight of what to expect for the ribs. You said the ribs is number 2 and sternum is #1 well my sternum has been tattooed 4 times now to complete the cover up and hide the pirate behind it and my right nipple was blasted I feel a lot more confident going to my appointment now thank you for that. The worst place for me so far with what I have done is the last ribs in the front (my lower chest) I was at the 7 hour mark when that part was being done and I thought my soul left my body
I only have on my legs, working on my leg sleeve. The knee and shin weren’t great but my foot was actually the worst GETTING it done. HEALING the knee ditch is actually the worst pain I’ve felt so far
Sternum for sure. Nothing has been worse than getting tattooed there, as a part of an underboob tattoo. Ribs were bad bad bad, but once the needle went to the sternum bone area... oh shit. I've never made pain noise during a tattoo before, but I kind of whimpered through my nose a few times there. And it's not only the pain (which is brutal) but it really does feel like the needle is vibrating the bone. Doing a little dance here just remembering the feeling!
I have a full backpiece, and the Kidney area and lower was brutal to me. Behind the knee was pretty bad. Stomach was hard to deal with relaxing and breathing. That's how it was for me.
I get alot of questions about my throat piece, as far as how painful it was. Took 2 sessions. To my surprise though it really wasn't all that bad. My worst spot for me so far was my knuckles. Whole hand was swollen like a balloon after
I've got tattoos on the outside of both my ankles, both sides of my upper back, the middle of my upper back, back of the neck, both wrists, inside my upper arms, outside my lower arms and in all complete honesty the only one that actually hurt was the one on the upper middle part of my back. It felt like the needle was going into my bone. It took 2 hours to complete and I kept breathing through my nose and out my mouth and I never made a sound and never moved around and it took 2 hours to finish, but I was so happy I stuck it out. The pain was worth it. I've heard people say the wrist is really painful, but mine didn't hurt at all and I got both my wrists done. I guess I have a pretty high pain tolerance.
Have both of my arms done, full sleeves including armpits and a full hand done. For me personally nothing came close to the under wrist, far worse than the hand, armpits, elbows, etc. Doesn't make sense to me to this day, the fingers were definitely the 2nd worse for me personally with the work I have done.
Im getting my first "big" tattoo next week. Its on the knee/thigh and its gonna be 8 hour sitting on tuesday and 8 hour sitting on wednesday... I'm just gonna try push through but im not looking forward to the pain! The result will be worthwhile though.
A 2.5 hour session on my armpit made me see god in 4 different religions, and I'm an atheist. My nipples were my least painful tattoos by far, but that may be because of the style of tattoo I went with. I could see getting them blacked out sucking (but hey, at least it's usually a pretty small area)

The questions on why that area is so sensitive smh

The chest and sternum was by far the worst for me so I'm glad you mentioned it as #1. I had other tattoos done before and knew I could handle them but the moment the needle first hit my chest I knew it was about to be a very long, painful 5-6 hours for me lol. Felt my soul leave my body at a few points, especially at the collarbones and sternum. The vibrations make it feel like someone is cutting you open.
Have you hit your ribs yet cause I felt like my chest was gonna be the worst but when I got to my ribs man I knew I was wrong😂😂😂
My chest wasn't bad at all have a chest plate but Jesus the sternum had me silent

The thigh is weird for guys the pelvis area tends to buzz all weird in the groin area and isn’t pleasant
Palms of your hands & arm pits for sure. I shed tears.
I got my forearm done I didn't feel any pain at all maybe it all depends on the tolerance of the person.
I got both my wrists done and truthfully neither one of them hurt. It was like a 2 on the pain scale if that.
Got a Japanese style sleeve. The shading around the wrist was definitely the worst part of the sleeve.
I got a link bracelet around my right wrist. Right over the bone and tendons felt pretty narly
Can you make a video showing all of your tattoos? I’m pretty interested after seeing some of the ones in this video. They look dope!
A good artist who loves their passion. The pain is worth it.
Im watching this like damn bro, every spot mentioned here is where i wanna get my next tats, guess its time to build some courage
I have my while back done and the only spot that was difficult was that lower middle back bit.
I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I just scheduled a consultation for a new piece.
I found your channel as I was researching, and it has been immensely helpful in regards to choosing an artist and treating them professionally in turn. Good stuff.
The chest was my most painful. The artist who did it was very heavy handed as well, so I have a lot of scarring on the tattoo as well.
Lol truuuu if most tattooers have an area left blank that really means something 😂
Stomach, easily the worst for me so far, got me entire torso, both arms and hands , throat and all but the stomach definitely got me near the end
Haha, no regrets tho it turned out badass.
honestly that’s me everytime i get tattooed😂
Chest in general is a bastard. Sternum is mind rattling.
Agree, it's horrible. Feels like a Jack hammer with a knife on the end stabbing you a million times 🤣 looked like I was having a seizure during mine
For me I think the style of the tattoo is as much of a factor as the placement - I find repeated shading on the same area a struggle.
facts
same, even my rib piece didnt hurt too much
Could be the saturation of the tattoo . Tattoos that aren’t dark hurt less .
Just did this last night, most painful
When he was shading my moms hair by my pit. I was literally biting my arm through my sweater and my body was like a plank of wood. This started 30 mins in. Hours later, I felt hungover. But stoked af
And I agree sternum, wrist, elbow etc. Didn't really hurt at all
agree on inner bicep/upper arm holy fk that hurt
But I know some touch mfers that say it is the worst for them
My calf was a breeze it's that freaking ankle bone that had me wanting to tap out
LMFAOOOO the nipple tattooing story was way too funny 😭
I have a leg sleeve. My knee didn’t phase me at all, but the back of the knee ? .. I almost tapped out.
my second tatt was the ribcage. OMG. I laughed so hard with pain the Hells Angel tattooist had to hold me down!
I currently have no tattoos and am strongly considering getting something on my rib and the thigh on the opposite side. I think my pain tolerance is good but I'm a little concerned about getting in over my head...
Nah you’re most definitely in over your head. But it will be worth it better invest in some numbing stuff who knows. But best of luck to you.
I got both my ribs tatted , dats definitely not da first tattoo you wanna get
Hey James, nice vid!
Damn man. I’m about to get my chest done and all these videos keep scaring me hahaha
how'd it go?
Chest is pretty okay, got mine pretty full it's pretty easy.
Worst tattoo placements with pain I've had done are Sternum, ribs + areola, inner bicep, lower back and shins. I've had both elbows in colour and ditchs done and wasn't too bad.
Wasn’t ready for the pain on the ribs . If I knew I would of definitely used numbing cream for the first time :’)
I’ve collected quite a few now and my worst one was definitely my ribs and spine. My sternum along with my fingers have been the easiest for me so far
I just got the top of my head done a couple days ago and it’s by far the worst for me and I have full sleeves, hands, neck and chest tattoos.
How was the neck?
Got a knee tat and pain was 8/10 💯🩸
i got the inside of my upper arm tattooed and there was about half an inch that crossed into armpit territory, not even in the depth of the armpit itself but hitting the nerves associated with it, and that was surprisingly intense. the difference between that section and the rest of the tattoo was night and day.
6 hours on my stomach… only cause I was not coming back to go thru that again. Had to get it over with lol
Everyone thinks the shin would hurt but tbh it was one of the easiest. My thigh piece goes into my inner thigh and that shit HURT.
Totally agree. Shin was easy asf. But high on the inner thigh feels crazy
Dude its always the last few hours in a long session that are the worst
It was bad just say that lol
I know Lindsay! She’s one of the best around these parts. You made a good choice getting tattooed by her
I always have people asking me how bad the elbow hurt, and I always tell them, not as bad as the Sternum did.
My first tattoo was a Phoenix on my right chest with her tails on my ribs and left wing on my sternum. I survived!! Now, I want more tattoos.
Out of all my tattoos, the stomach was the worst easy 10/10 pain maybe 11 lol but it came out damn good and I love it
Got tattoos on my chest ribs, hip and a full leg sleeve going on to my toes. The toes are definitely the worst for me so far
I love seeing this vid the day before my nipple tat 5:14
Can you please do a video on numbing cream? Do they work? Would you recommend? Which brands do you suggest? Etc .... Thanks
I'm tattooed from my hands up to my neck and stomach chest in my back but nothing compares to getting my palms tattooed.
I have a tattoo I regret on my sternum/upper stomach that I want covered up, but the pain I experienced from the tattoo I have hurt so bad that that's the only reason I haven't got it covered yet. It's dark and will take alot to cover
Love the videos james! Keep it up
another awesome vid james, im getting my first tat in a few months under the knee, whole lower leg…hope its not too bad 😅.
Top of the ass cheek hurts, I have my whole back done. Ribs didn’t really phase me too bad but the elbow and right above the back of my calve just before the bend of your knee had me sweating.
My second tattoo was right over my sternum. 6ish hours. I regret it now, because I'd rather use that area for a different piece. It hurded a little.
I had chest tattoo that included tattoo design over nipples and sternum as my first tattoo. Very happy with how it looks.
I have a larger sternum tattoo (3 6 hour sessions) and the edge going onto the boob to the flat part of the sternum was the worst area I have had done. For me it was worse than the sides of my ribs.
Definitely the same for me minus the boobs. I wonder if there’s a difference in the feeling between a man and a woman 🤔
@@47piirate26 stomach fuckin hurts man. the lower it goes or the more on the side it goes, the more painful it is. was by far my worst 2 tattoos on each side of my stomach, my fingers hurt alot but not like my stomach
hushhhh...i was just in gilbert and got a tat at a shop in chandler. ha! love how knowledgeable you are. subscribed. thank you.
I want the other side done so bad but I’m terrified loool
Got my upper bicep done, 8.5 hours, practically pain free in comparison.
Thanks for the informative video man I just finished my first sleeve and I am going to get my knee done next week pretty scared for it now 😂
Good luck!
Got my sternum done yesterday. It really sucked. I actually enjoy the feeling of the elbow. Inner arm and pits suck pretty good as well.
The sternum, the lining was killing me, BUT the shading was tickled lol
My very first tattoo was on my chest and went partially over the sternum. That hurt bad
My personal top 3 are
1. Over my arm which was covered in a lot of old self harm scars. I legit cried a little
2. My shin. I had muscle spasms and it hurt like hell
Ribs! For sure was my worst spot.
Whole hand was swollen like a balloon after
😬 as im wanting to do my knuckles. Ive got top of my left hand that wasn't too bad. But it's just a little lettering and simple design
My chest was by far the worst I’ve ever gotten tattooed. Next to that would be the shin
Im getting my first "big" tattoo next week. Its on the knee/thigh and its gonna be 8 hour sitting on tuesday and 8 hour sitting on wednesday... I'm just gonna try push through but im not looking forward to the pain! The result will be worthwhile though.
Itching for the next video like a healing tattoo 😂
