here's a perspective from someone who struggles financially: buying games is luxury. I barely have AAA games in my library and even the ones I do have are about a decade old. I go to the steam marketplace to fill my wishlist throughout the months and only buy games on sale, and if they are also in my wishlist. beyond that i sometimes buy games that are in huge sales on their own. all are the games i am certain i might like by the way, not ones that i might play it sometime. i also try not to refund games unless they feel scammy because there have been so many games that i disliked at first dew plays, gave it a try a month later and ended up falling in love with them (such as satisfactory, black mesa, and Terraria)
I really appreciate your perspective. I make decent money now but grew up poor so I know what you mean about your finances. I think ive lost that perspective over the years. I was the poor kid who only got a game on their birthday or xmas. Video games has always been my comfort and hobby. IT's like I have an unlimited dopamine button I can press to buy these games instead of truly projecting out if they're going to get played and enjoyed. Thanks again for your comment.

A lot of my excess games were from humble bundle or fanatical, they sell me 5 games with 1 that I actually want and its cheaper than buying the 1 game normally lol
Treat this as a random advice on the internet which it is, STOP LOOKING AT PRICING INFORMATION ABOUT NEW GAMES, make a promise to yourself that unless you play 50 games from your library you wont buy any more games, pic 2 games which you like and install it finish it. Repeat until you finish 50 games, I know it's very tempting not to change our habits but we have to try, you can also try reading the book "the atomic habits" it will also help in other areas of our life.

Looks like the algorithm has chosen you . I think something around 70% of my library is unplayed. I wishlist them knowing this is a good game/I would like to play this and buy it if the price is good . But , I always go back to the same games. , right now it's Tarkov :( DAMN YOU STEAM SALES!!
@cristicdx oh trust me, I noticed. I just started posting regular content, and this video only had like 20 views for a few days and that it started popping off, lol. Thanks for taking a chance on my video and commenting. I really appreciate it. But yeah, you get it. Your tarkov is my warhammer 3. I just know there are so many great games, experiences, and stories out there. I wind up feeling guilt that I'm playing strategy games that are harder to convey experiences with lol
I played all my games TL;DR i dont make enough money to just buy a game and never play it (there are like 4 i havent played on RECORD because i got them just before a long hospital stay - i finished them all in the hospitel and WiFi in that hospital was only avalable in a few rooms due to range - i diddnt have internet) the other stuff with 0 playtime are all server Kits aswell as Free to play games i wanted to play with friends but never went anywhere and some games i got in bundles such as Spore: Creepy and Cute or Lost Ember VR or Doom 64

So if you play an RPG do you try to do as much side content as you can, do you try to 100%, or do you just do main story? How do you knock them down so consistently
If you can afford to buy games. There's no reason to feel ashamed on the amount of games you have still to play. Sure there's always some addiction to buying stuff. But unless you're buying games you never intend to play. It's like any other hobby where people collect movies, songs, etc. Just play the shit you want to play and enjoy it, otherwise its like a job if you feel like you have to finish every game you buy. Tbh if you only play Live service games maybe you should reconsider it though.
@bonsai4658 okay you made me feel better. I am very comfortable financially and most of my purchases are 50%+ off. I do intend to play them for sure. I think I was trying to be too funny about buying them solely off user reviews. While I do generally trust the majority of actual gamers (not access media) and read their reviews, I for sure do more research than just that. And fk no I don't play live service. You did give me an idea for my next video tho lol thanks. I appreciate the comment.
saaaame..... I'm gonna have to make a video on that too lol. I have this weird mental block from picking up half played saves if I haven't played the game in a while too. LIke im too disoriented to continue the playthrough. I forgot what I had done, where I'm going, how the controls work. So then I start a new game and waste all those hours lol.
@@Livvvid yeah same here, like, you get 70% through the game where the game expects you to be super good at it by now and you just know you're gonna get wrecked, or you try and get absolutely clapped, so you just kinda decide to not bother or restart and it just kinda ruins the whole experience making you more likely to have even more half completed games
