Ohhhhh thats hilarious. fallout 3 was my introduction to fallout and I wouldn't have believed that story either because it sounds too fantastical unless yoou see it yourself lol I'm not guilting you into a sub but I have a story about fallout 3 coming eventually ;). It's mostly about my buddies experience, I was only somewhat involved toward the end.

Shiny gastly looks amazing in gen 2 but you can hardly tell now in newer games. It was unfortuantely one of those shinies that looked less impressive when they re-adjusted shinies. And im really sorry to hear that. Hopefully this video is like an AA meeting where we can come together over failed shinies lol.

@@Livvvid Loved video games all my life, just couldn't sit through more than a few minutes late teens but Daggerfall was among the last games I remember playing. Got a ps4 for free with some cable/internet package one time and seen that. Tried for nostalgia and being laid up for a couple weeks lol Daggerfall was PC of course but in consoles I went from N64 to PS4 lol

@Livvvid I didn't know what it was at the time either, but I actually did try to catch it just in case. My pokemon crit it tho. And I remember looking around in that patch for HOURS trying to find another one. So THAT convinced me it was a glitch or something for the longest time. Until of course I formally learned what shinies were & this story came back to punch me in the gut. So in a way, my story is like... the inverse of yours. 😅

Nah he's a good dude. Kids back then were saying all sorts of stuff, including me. I was also extremely gullible. I fell for all the rumors back then. Mew under truck, Pikablu ect lol. But I think this was the last one I ever fell for. I can't think of another time I got bamboozled like that again lol. He definitely didnt ruin it though don't worry. I plan on going back and finishing.

Yeah exactly. These comments show me that even native english speakers had a difficult time understanding what they were trying to convey. The english is fine but they wouldn't come right out and say it. Apparently there is a random NPC in GSC that will mention "I ran into a pokemon and it had a different color!!!" Okay? But that only makes sense if you already knew what shinies were lol. He could just be saying he ran into a pokemon he hadnt seen before. This was the first sequel game so it could have been construed that he was a traveller and saw a pokemon he hadnt seen before. Shiny orthworm looks badass thats a good hunt. @DeetotheDubs my YT is therapy at this point because this was low key a beacon to anyone else who didn't pick up on the gyrados thing lol. And for anyone else who has failed a shiny haha. The noctowl is on me. But the gyrados thing always felt like a side story and they even explained why it was red. But if everything else can be shiny what excuse would they have????

Haha yeah I didn't put a lot of thought into the naming of it as you can tell but im glad there are people out there who felt like me. Are you doing it because you don't own the later games or for similar reasons as me?

@@Livvvid a bit of both, I don't own the newer games but I've seen plenty of gameplay in my research and I just feel that something was lost in the transition to 3D. There's a charm to pixel art and a charm that I feel while playing the DS games specifically that I think is lost in newer games.

@@BaneOfThanatos Then yeah we feel the same. I really like the designs of some of the 3D era pokedex's ( love gen 7 pokedex) but the games themselves I feel were really lackluster and have only been declining in quality. I think the general vibe with pokemon fans would disagree with me though so I don't think it will ever go back to how I used to enjoy pokemon but as I said in the video, even if you play in your own little world with gens 1-5 its still full of amazing games and experiences. I forgot to mention in the video how you can even play and collect pokemon from the RPG Gamecube games or other spin off titles and send those into your cards and stransfre into black and white 2.

Yeah you hit it on the head. It's a "gripe" of mine but doesnt ruin the games at all because you literally never have to go there. Some people who like it can use it and others can just have the more authentic gen 2 remake experience. Thank you for the sub it helps out a lot!

Despite the internet not being heavily used by younger kids in my era, im sure the Pikablu (Marill) rumor had to have spread across the world via the internet because thats a very well known rumor that many of us remember despite being from different areas and countries.

@@Livvvid I'll keep an eye out. Fallout 3 got me back into gaming as a teenager. It has sort of become controversial to even like, but I think the atmosphere is fantastic.

....Jesse listen to me. Shiny hunting at 1/8192 odds is VERY excruciating. The the work itself is easy. You literally just encounter pokemon until you find one. But its the TIME....... It takes a long time. Is it worth it? yes, to me. You'll love that shiny forever because you earned it. I like that idea for a video. Give me some time to mull over how I would want to do it. If you have a GBA SP the only hurdle is that basically all pokemon games not on the switch will be a tad expensive, even used. If you've never played a pokemon game I would highly recommend Leaf Green (Its cheaper than fire red usually). Leaf Green is a remake of the original pokemon games and I think its a perfect introduction. To shiny hunt in that game its pretty easy. Those odds I told you about 1/8192 are always active from the moment you start running into pokemon. If you're extremely lucky you can literally encounter one within a few hours (Very unlikely). Then there is "soft resetting" in front of legendary or stationary pokemon. You save in front of a legendary pokemon, click on it to start the encounter, and if its not shiny you reset your game using the button combination for the SP (not the actual power button). You do this until you encounter a shiny. Just make sure you either have a master ball or pokemon that can safely lower shiny down in health and plenty of pokeballs to throw because if you fail the shiny is gone. You can still reset and try again even if you fail but you arent given any special odds. If those odds are too insane for you, in later games they literally half the odds and even start making other methods that make the odds lower and lower. In the current gen you can get down into 1/512 lol. You can get a few shinies in a day now but they wont feel as rewarding.

Actually I do have a switch, I remember now, got I for my wife who sometimes plays animal crossing on it. But I kinda want that authentic experience I would have got back in the mid 2000s. I could play an emulator on my phone, but there is always something lost with them.

I’d recommend getting a Japanese FireRed or LeafGreen. They are much better prices than the English ones, and if you’re even decently familiar with the games, they’re easy enough to play in another language. Luckily the items have pictures (which isn’t the case in Ruby/Sapphire) A good starting hunt in FR/LG would be a Game Corner Pokémon like Abra or a random encounter hunt (excluding the Safari Zone) Also I’ll brainstorm ideas for a video like the one you mentioned. It’s a great idea Hopefully that helps!

@@Livvvid I forgot Bill was in the 2nd gen games. He was a disaster waiting to happen. Smart enough to fuse DNA but couldn't manipulate one button with Clefairy appendages. I couldn't help but imagine how vastly different war would be with living WMDs. I pictured a mixed fleet of Gyrados/Lapras for your aquatic assaults. So many options for ground, it's unreal. Imagine medieval knights riding into battle atop Rapidashes or Rhyhorns. Dugtrios just taking out the foundation of an enemy building. Then you have dragons in the sky and massive birds. Espionage with the psychic types to extract information. There's so much that's implied but never explored and, I agree, it's fun to headcannon stuff to fill the gaps or to enhance it. I assumed the algo is picking you up because I don't watch stuff related to this topic, but you were still recommended to me.

It mixes nobunagas ambition with pokemon for a turned based strategy set in medieval japan but with pokemon lol. its really cool. I think it came out during the Black and White era. But more to your point yeah I'm always wondering about the actual application of pokemon like you mention with dugtrio. That would be so useful for so many things lol. Why drill thousands of bore holes looking for oil when a dugtrio can just go look? lol. You must be right though because the views on the video are continuing to climb. About that asterisk... I did play some Pokémon Infinite Fusion last year. Being able to combine my two favorite starters, Feraligatr and Marshtomp, into something equally, if not more, badass was pretty cool. Hats off to the artists of that humongous endeavor. One more bit on Samurott, I do agree with you on its look. Kinda wish it stayed on two legs and they gave it a katana (with a shelder shell crossguard 😅) to complement the samurai look.

@shinycollector7 hey thanks for the comment I'm glad you liked it. Oh I despise those timed events. And I was always jealous of Japan because they had them much more frequently and japan is a much smaller country than the US with better public transport so it's easier to travel to a different city for a couple hours to get event pokemon. You're right about that for sure. And even doing my method is a bit convoluted. Like you still need an earlier DS model that supports the GBA slot. But as the gens progress it got easier. It's just a bummer that after gen 7 I can't send up anything from that gen and back. Like maybe I get the itch to play Gale of Darkness and send that Lugia up just because it's cool. Nope, can't do it anymore. Now, if they do "ports" of the old games with transfer support I will be over the moon. And maybe they even open up the exclusive events we all missed like they did with Celebi in the Crystal 3DS release.

@@Livvvid For sure, I really enjoyed it! That’s a great point, part of the problem was getting to the events. And in the earlier days of the internet, another issue was just finding out about them in the first place. I never went to any Gen 3 events (didn’t know they were happening) but did manage to get a Celebi in Silver (which I unfortunately don’t have now) Agreed completely. I’m waiting for ports of the Gen 1 and 2 games (maybe more?) for the Switch eShop. I’d definitely buy them. It’s a start (and gives me some hope) that they brought Stadium and Snap to it It’s frustrating with how they’ve approached some of these things, but I’m doing my best to see what options there are, like buying official distribution discs and carts (but man are they pricey). Would be cool to eventually complete a living Pokédex for the first 5 Generations

@shinycollector7 I know we're random people on the internet but im not kidding I would help optain distro discs or any other official methods. It's part of gaming/pokemon history but I think it would also be really cool to distro those events lol. If you have the knowledge I could probably cover costs.

I’ve seen various Gen 3 discs (English Jirachi, Japanese Celebi) and DS distribution carts (various mythicals) on eBay, but most are $200+. Right now I’m focusing on building my game collection (at least one English copy of every game), so I’m holding off on buying any distribution hardware

I think they saw online platforms and independent journalists like friendlyjordies as a threat. So they came up with a plan to make them pay for the fossil media who are sycophants for the liberals. Which means they have to take editorial responsibility. It also means that comments on any post have to be moderated by the person that made the post otherwise they can be held responsible for it. So you will see most media companies turn off comments on TH-cam. All this the esafety and media bargaining was all a way to squash independent journalism (and what they call miss information) and prop up the fossil media who are basically the PR department of the Australian liberal party (our conservative party) when they were in power. We have a different gov now, but these programs are still in place. Probably in part because these fossil media companies still have a level of control over the government. Funny you made this video because news is starting to break about how there is a bit of a blood bath all across the media scape. When Skyrim came out we learned that during the Oblivion Crisis, the Argonians were able to push back the Daedric forces and actually start invading into the gates themselves, and I like to headcanon it that my Oblivion character was a huge part of that legend 😊
