- It's time to replace the nav package on Peggy-Anne and we have opted to install two Raymarine Axiom displays, one for charts one for sonar.
We cruise extensively along the East Australian Coast on our 13 meter catamaran. Join us as we explore new cruising grounds, cross bars, fix all kinds of problems, ride out rough weather and live aboard for extended periods.
We even have a playlist that gets us on other peoples boats.
We hope that our videos encourage others to get on board and experience this fantastic lifestyle.

One of your most interesting vids Norm. Everyone needs a mate like Bruce. Cheers
Yep He is a good mate to have. Very talented Dude.
Thanks Norm. I have to upgrade old Raymarine this year and your video gives me confidence to proceed down that track.
Thanks Dude. It was a pretty easy upgrade and the crew at Raymarine are super helpful.
Out of all the beautiful locations you travel and you open the intro video in front of a disabled toilet 🤪. Just stirring you up Norm, we love your channel 😉😁🤣
Yeah Dude. I should take a bit more care on backdrops. I guess small cameras with small screens some things aren't noticed. I need a director???
Nice work mate. Just installed full raymarine setup on my little boat. Very pleased with how easy it was especially on the networking side.
Great to hear Dude. It was a pretty easy install.
About to do installation many great tips here .. for us dudes all in the same vintage , give confidence to upgrade tech .. can be daunting at times .. thanks .. from across the ditch in NZ
Great to see you Kiwi Dudes watching. Glad it helped. Was pretty easy really, just plug and play.
Well done norm. I have the same system on my boat, I love it. I have everything connected to the system through NMEA 2000. my VHF and my entertainment. I love that its plug and play.
Yep. It sure is easy to install. I'm lovin it too Dude.
Great job Norm. Helpful!
Thanks Peter. Glad it helps.
WOW, Great to have a mate like Bruce Lord Dude. Thanks for sharing. I have been hanging out for the sequels of your return to QLD mate. Been watching an earlier video of yours when you drove down to "S"icktoria and back to QLD. Saw you at Smith's Beach Phillip Island. I wish I had a penny for each time I have walked down that ramp from the Smith's Beach car park, down to the beach and the rocks beyond and then back up again. The wife and I were thinking of buying a house on that Smith's Beach Road, but then decided against it due to the congestion during the public holidays; especially in summer. Anyhow; it is only a 40 minute drive from where we live now. Thanks again Lord Dude. Have a safe trip. I look forward to watching the next two vids. Cheers!
Yeah Dude. Love The Island. Daughter lives at Smiths.
Great spot but too bloody cold for this dude but.
@@MotorSailingforOldDudes I thought that your daughter must live at Smith's Beach Lord Dude. I love that beach. We used to visit it every weekend, where we took heaps of photographs. As I may have told you, I was dying to buy a house near Smith's Beach. There were several houses for sale down that way, back in 2018. The wife and I were keen amatuer photographers. In my last life, I was a Senior Forensic Investigator and Forensic Photographer. My wife used to work for the Antarctic Division as a photographer fifty years ago. We used to love walking down that ramp st Smiths; then turning left and walking right up the beach to the rocks. We used to wade out to the rock shelf at low tide, set up our cameras and go berserk. We were both full of remorse that we did not buy the house down at Smiths, but my wife is too attached to the kids and our grandkids. She goes stir crazy if she cannot talk to the children and grandchildren everyday. In fact we were going to head off to Smith's Beach last Saturday but the weather was not the best. Cheers my friends. Take care. Look forward to the NEXT EPISODE. Bye for now.
Brilliant again Norm. Just found you , or rather Peggy-Ann, in Gladstone on my marine traffic app. Ha, it works 🤩🥳‼️
Great to see Womby ,hail and hearty, back on board too. Enjoy. I’ll be up on Hamilton island the week after next…..unfortunately by plane, not by sea. I’m working on getting another boat though. I’ll keep an eye out for Peggy-Ann. Who knows, you might be there…maybe 😂
Probably not that far up this year Dude. Have fun up there.
👍 just had installed a new Axiom + and a new raymarine GPS, with new Seatalkng backbone... so far pretty happy!
Yeah mate. I'm lovin the new system. Great gear.
It is a bit like Christmas!!
Cost about $800 with a wash down. Pretty reasonable there.
if Norm installed a new washer, I'd watch that video lol, I mean, opening scene in this vid is in front of Bellevue cottage public toilets , thats a cracka !! . Cheers Frank from down Sydney way
Thanks Frank. Hope viewers don't think I was hangin around them.
Cheers mate.
You owe Bruce so many beers that they will need to be delivered in Kegs instead of cartons.
Yeah Only problem is he's a whisky Dude.
Hi Norn.
Nice work again from Bruce and Yourself. With the Transducers being mounted on the very bottom of the pontoon is there a chance that they can get damaged if you strike bottom on a rough surface or of mud covering them under the same conditions.
I guess You are careful enough not to run out of water under the boat.
Nice Vid. Thank You.
David.
Yeah David. I'm more worried about other bits that hang lower.(Props and Rudders). The new gear has a great alarm for depth.
Thanks for the comment Dude.
What a great install video! Did you have any trouble hooking it up to the autopilot?
No it was pretty simple through NMEA.
why get an AIS now after all these years ? Great video - we all need a Bruce in our lives :)
Good question Dude. But since having it, I can see its benefits.
Go raymarine.
Been great and easy to use.
Great video, where in OZ are you guys located?
Were on the east coast of Queensland at present. Yeppoon / Great Keppel Island. Near Rockhampton.Cheers Dude.
What is the best contact for Ray marine ? ❤
Contact Chris at Green Marine. He's in manly but will travel.
Norm, any reason you haven’t put on a radar? (Other than cost)
I have radar on Dude. It's an older Furuno, but still working OK.
Suppose it would be good to have the new Raymarine CHIRP with an overlay, but good to keep them separate too I'm thinkin.
