Good to see it all laid out like that, it's easier than trying to visualize it in your head, so thanks for that. I managed to pick up one of those i70s multi-function displays today, brand new, for £250!! What a bargain! 🙂
I'm loving your videos Alex! Seeing the hidden places behind and beneath is hugely helpful for me. I'm considering making the Telstar my next vessel, but i've only been on the boat once at the PCI factory, back when they came out with hull no. 1. At the time, I was able to climb aboard and get a quick cursory look and feel for the boat, but not see the details that you're showing me in your in-depth videos. You're helping me decide and plan my necessary upgrades all at the same time. Thank you! I love it!
Glad I can help. You should join the facebook group for the owners. Also have a bunch of pictures from the build process. If you have any questions you can drop me an email or message on instagram!
I have the raymarine element MFD can any name brand GPS antenna example garmin be used w/ raymarine? I want to avoid the seatalk cableing bc my engine/fuel tanks are NMEA2K thanks BTW the way you have it all connected on the blanket makes it easy to visulize compared to stuffed in a closet. good work.
@@steveleston1848 it can but has to communicate. I believe a converter between the two networks is needed and I think that’s the expensive bit. Especially when technically they both communicate the same it’s just a custom connector system that raymarine has. Annoying but what can you do 🤷♂️
@@adrian.agapie it’s a fairly standard setup and communicates on the same network. The i70 allows for additional data to be shown whilst having the plotter free for charts.
Great visual for the NMEA backbone setup. I know that you tend to mostly day sail, but with the larger and faster boat i was surprised that you did not appear to have picked up and AIS transceiver. You may find yourself in bigger waters with this boat surrounded by much bigger boats -- just wondering about the choice.
Awesome 🤩 I'm looking forward to your first test drive. According to the ST1000/2000 manual, the wind vane should also be able to communicate with the tillerpilot over the network to create kind of wind steering system, right? Best, Felix
Yep, you can tell it to either sail to a fixed bearing or to sail to the wind. I find sailing to the wind works better for me - I can set the trim, set the autopilot and then that leaves me to focus on the main sheet and keeping an eye out for the pesky lobster pots!!!
Mainly the very short days and continuous grim weather from Nov to March. For many it’s the best time to go sailing as long as you’re confident to do so. But most winterise their boats, do maintenance etc.

No problem! I wished I had a video like this with it all laid out for when I was looking into what I needed. That’s a good deal!
1st time I have ever understood the raymarine network , good job
Glad I could help!

Nice work, and a great setup the colour coded wires are handy. 2x👍
Thank you!
Hi Alex,
Why did you pick this particular configuration (Raymarine + i70 + Airmar)? THX
@@adrian.agapie it’s a fairly standard setup and communicates on the same network. The i70 allows for additional data to be shown whilst having the plotter free for charts.
How to check the antenna vhf on a yacht if there is nmea?
must be nice to have companies give you things as am struggling to get a battery and 1 solar panel lol
Only a small discount on this one but every little helps!

Still mostly costal with this boat so no need for it really. If I was doing some night passages or country hopping then I’d definitely get it.
wow this is good, maybe you could do the list all stuff you connected together.
Thank you! It’s simple when you see it all connected up outside of the boat!

Yes that’s correct and thanks for watching!
@@floydstewart2956 those pesky lobster pots!
Nice work Alex. Ik have the same network and VHF on my boat, works great. Are you also integrating a AIS?
Not AIS just yet as I’m coastal sailing a lot of the time. Thank you!
I have the Em-trak B921, i can recommend it if you decide to instal a AIS
@@stefantieken will take a look!
So you just plugged power in everywhere ? Any problems with that ?
This is the only explanation I have seen of this.
The things that need a dedicated power supply get one then just that one power to the network somewhere in the middle of all the devices!
how much all this setup roughly is ? not precise price, just an altogether value.
For similar systems £2000 roughly maybe a little more. Just depends on what you want really. Hope this helps a little
