- I've been asked ..How much it costs to live this lifestyle. This is my expenses for the last 12 months.
We cruise extensively along the East Australian Coast on our 13 meter catamaran. Join us as we explore new cruising grounds, cross bars, fix all kinds of problems, ride out rough weather and live aboard for extended periods.
We even have a playlist that gets us on other peoples boats.
We hope that our videos encourage others to get on board and experience this fantastic lifestyle.

Norm could you do a segment on how you make your own rum on board the boat as bying it can be quit expencive . The expence run down was not as high as i would of thought it could be but it depends on the life stile of each person and boat size and capabilaty
Was going to do it a while ago, but it is an elegal practice and didn't want to risk fines etc.
It is a lot cheaper than purchasing alcohol and better producr too.

Good breakdown there Norn. Lot cheaper for fuel on my sailboat, but then I don't live aboard and of course the wind is not free as have to pay for sails.
Yep..Hope fuel comes back a bit soon and I wish someone would tell me why it's so much more at a fuel dock.
Boatie is a new term for us Yanks. Living on a boat is not terribly eccentric in my book (admittedly unconventional), but doing so without fishing at all just may qualify 😀 there is an interesting backstory there.
There is Jeffery. I ran a large aquarium as my last business and fed numerous fish every other day. Can't bring myself to hook them. But other booties sometimes donate fillets...don't mind eating them.

Great vid. New subscriber. I have lived on a boat for 8 years. The last few have been on land...however.. miss the water so much and getting back onto the boat. Nice to see a vlog without the T&A.

Very helpful Norm - I'd give up the morning coffee so I could have an extra glass of wine and up here the fuel is a bit cheaper. Basically though I think you're spot on - besides once were gone it's gone so may as well spend some of it.

I'm glad I found your channel with retirement around the corner this year...I plan to live on the Water here in Canada on Georgian Bay. Unfortunately, this will involve Winters in an apartment or move to the West Coast and it is temperate enough to live all year round on a boat in the Vancouver or Victoria area...but the Marina costs in Winter are quite high..,the alternative is to purchase a boathouse/berth which makes more sense.
Welcome aboard. Yep, boathouse berth sounds good, although not familiar with them here. I'm glad I have my berth as they are becoming increasingly harder to come by.

interesting, you obviously spend as you need to not extravagant but don't hold back. I am on a full pension and on a club marina and hardly ever leave my home waters (Lake Macquarie) as I don't want to. I don't do any maintenance myself and my annual costs, living alone are $18,000.

Even with the higher diesel prices the fuel bill isn't that bad , though the coffee and dining out bill surprised me , its up there ! You must be happy having no petrol on board , dangerous stuff hey, the plastic containers puffing up like a balloon when in warmer weather......

The mechanic I use is about $90ph, Caterpillar are $225ph most are about $120ph.
