Yeah there's not one comment from me going after him for holding out and I said repeatedly that his contract would be a gift the season or two after he signed. I got roasted for it and now that I've been proven right people either act like they did as well when they are full of it or they say there's no way I knew that despite dozens of comments where I say just that.

Absolutely agree. I don't hear anyone bitching now, do you? His numbers from last year rolling into this full season show that he's a hell of a deal. The Leafs were the holdouts in my opinion. The deals made with Mitch, AM and Johnny aren't Will's problem. He's living the haircut the team needed to retain their current lineup scorers.

It's his defense I like the most,a real two way player. His back checking and two way game is similar to Steve Yzerman. His ability to throw the body and to take a hit are second to none,in fact I find he can skate the fastest when he is about to take a hit.

The Steve Larmer one is one that I definitely would say worked out. He left to try and win the cup. He literally went and won the cup with New York, and got to retire pretty young and have more time with his family. He's got 1 of the best player usage %'s of all time, over 1000 points, over a ppg, a stanley cup ring, and great playoff numbers as well. Honestly he would be in the HOF if he kept playing and padded his stats but, as he said in an interview years ago, it wasn't important to him to do that, he wanted to be happy and live his life, and if the HOF happens someday it happens.

Alexei Yashin was 1 of my favorite players as a kid, him and Alfredsson were awesome, those first 2 years they made the playoffs, were special. And Yashin was literally almost the Hart Trophy winner in 98-99, that's the reason he asked for a new deal. Not because of pure greed. Can you blame the guy? But Alfredsson is my favorite NHL player, tied with Gretzky, and a lot of my favorite Red Wings legends.... but Yashin holding out did give Alfie the Captaincy, which he held until he left. 1999-2013 14 years, 13 seasons as captain, not too bad eh? Plus he was an Assistant captain at least partially during EVERY other season of his career, even as a rookie, even with Detroit, I mean he did lead the Red Wings in scoring at 42 in his final season!

Colorado winning a cup with Forsberg probably had little to do with the Lindros deal and more to do with the team around him. Including one of the best goaltenders of all time in Roy. Philly had some of their best years with Lindros. That trade worked out pretty good for both sides. And we loved us some Lindros in Philly. LoD was a feared line.
