I brought my 4Runner home last night (my first non-Honda in 17 years), and it made no sense to me why I couldn't just turn the volume down! Before watching your video, I looked at exactly what you said, but just like you said, I didn't feel like that had anything to do with the Carplay. I feel like it was set on 1 already, but I am crossing my fingers that you have the magic trick! Thank you for the info!
Finally after all these years- that's how you adjust the CarPlay voice volume on a Toyota! Never could figure it out ever since the low med hi Navigation Voice volume setting was removed from the Maps setting menu in IOS. For the record, I had a Chevy Malibu rental car for work travel- and the whole 'adjust the Maps navigation voice with the volume knob while the voice is speaking' thing-- that actually does work on a Chevy, and only when the Siri voice is speaking.
Well..found that a long time ago. I want to be able to adjust the volume with the volume control on the dashboard. Sometimes when passengers are speaking I want to turn it down. Sometimes with high road noise I want to turn it up. How do I get control of the volume without diving into menus?
I figured that part out with your help but my problem in CarPlay now is when I get a text and Siri reads it to me, the volume is coming from a different speaker and the radio volume knob doesn’t change it and if I’m listening to the radio or a book, it’s too low to hear the text unless I turn everything off. I don’t have a problem when she’s giving me directions on the map, just texts.
you can also adjust the volume when maps are speaking usually at start of route with any volume knob or button after it speaks it will revert back to radio control

Awesome! Glad it helped!
Man. Outstanding! This was so loud it was a distraction while driving. Thanks!!!
I wish I’d found this sooner, no idea how I managed to turn it down in the first place. Thank you.
I needed this video! I could not get the volume lower no matter the how-to I watched. Thank you!!!
You’re welcome!
Thanks a lot man! Works as well on Lexus
No problem 👍
I don’t understand why in modern days one cannot adjust volume with volume knob, on CarPlay either Google maps or Apple map
Agree
Agreed!
AGREE!!!

I agree it’s not a good design

I’ve not tried that scenario…I’ll have to look into that.
Thank you this was driving me nuts!!!

Thank you!!!! I would have never guessed that. Now I don’t have to be irritated by Siri yelling at me!! Haha
