I’ve got another video on how to add CarPlay to a 2014 or 2015. They did not come with it from factory, so you have to swap out the HMI. I recommend White Automotive and Media, they are who I used and couldn’t be happier. Had it for several years now.
You didn’t mention that when you use one of them you lose Apple car play, so you have to unplug that and plug your wired phone back in, wish they added wireless Apple car play
I’m an Apple Junkie too. Instead of using an Apple TV can I connect an iPhone? Currently, while waiting for my wife I watch movies on my iPad with audio going thru CarPlay.
Great another thing to distract drivers, now they will be watching Netflix or TH-cam videos while driving. This needs to be eliminated via an over the air update that the owners can't stop.

Instead of Apple TV , just buy a USB-C to HDMI cable . Connect iPhone to ottocast And avoid more cables and devices in vehicle.

Any issues with audio lag? I have seen some similar devices but some people have complained audio lag (lip sync).
yes i have no doubt this device is like all the others. especially if going through a wire less setup.

No, you can hotspot to your cell phone if you want. That’s what I have to do
