I actually think the dialogue at the beginning made it seem far more realistic. The casual chat between work colleagues which doesn't sound at all like voice acting - praise to the devs on this one, it's insanely creepy and well constructed.
That’s the same thing I was thinking. Like if they were at my job and someone said “nah they don’t really talk that bad or unenthusiastic.” Well, it’s actually worse. 😂 so I completely agree.
Why do you discuss the dialogue in the beginning? It's as realistic as it could be. It's not "just chatting", it's what everyone would sound like in real situation. Doesn't need so much explanation and discussion
Now THIS is a backrooms game that feels completely accurate. The uneasiness of how quiet everything is, the many many ways to get lost and abundance of rooms that lead elsewhere. The queasy feeling that you aren't alone, even though you haven't seen proof otherwise. Love!
I’ve never watched any gameplay channels, never been interested in them at all whatsoever. But I came across one of Hollows videos for whatever reason and he instantly became one of my favorite TH-camrs lol. I’ve already watched atleast 100 of his horror game videos.
Ikr i used to watch markipleir alot. But he became soooo dramatic. Really content that’s made for kids. Sometimes a person can just do too much and it won’t feel genuine anymore.
The back rooms are a place you inherently feel that people should be there, but are not. Their absence bags your absence... Running feels like the thing to do, yet you don't see any immediate threats anywhere around you. It's like the old saying that you're more comfortable knowing where the bee is, seeing it, right there, rather than just hearing a bee somewhere in the room. You're just unable to find it. You keep looking, you keep looking. It's like you hear the bee somewhere, everywhere in the back rooms but you can't see it.
Probably a spoiler, but there is a monster in this game. The Librarian found it in their playthrough, and there's screenshots of it on the Steam page. My assumption from what other people have said about their experiences is that the monster either doesn't always spawn, or you have to go out of your way to investigate noises and disturbances in order to encounter it.
@CaptainBeebi either way. One monster that's not s guarantee on a playthrough is still great. Most of these backrooms games consistently have you running from monsters left and right. Having one that isn't a guarantee does create a sense of being followed which the backrooms has.

The dev of this game is only 18 and he has said that he's used his dreams for inspiration as well, which begs the question. Why is an 18 year old dreaming of places he's unlikely to have ever seen? Makes you wonder if there is another part of reality that looks like this.
This is such a phenomenal game, if you could even call it that. Its more like an experience, experiencing someone's awful dream where every play through can be unique. Amazing video and amazing game. I guess the whole reason this became popular is just the fact that you cant explain what this game makes you feel, I loved every second of it
For years, I've had dreams with a recurring theme. I'm in very clean but antiquated spaces a la late 1970s with very similar looks and layouts to this. I always feel lonely but not alone, as if there's a presence permeating every inch of the place, and it's not a nice one. I can never seem to find my way out, and the farther into the place I get, the more lost and hopeless I become. This video and the fact that this "game" exists gave me a deep sense of unease. Thank you for sharing it. It's been an interesting experience.
I think that the backrooms as a concept is terrifying AF, no entities required. Just the idea of being lost in a place like that is scary enough because of the existential nature of the whole scenario.
Did anyone else notice at 8:35 that man figure is the same figure(s) from that one dark web video where they are feeding that person ... Thats the creepiest thing I've seen in a while. Threw me back to the days where I'd watch nothing but dark web videos

I personally think that kid sections in stuff like this are scary because, in our minds, children are supposed to be safe and excluded from the hardships of life in an ideal world, but seeing something like a kids section in a horror related experience challenges our perception of how life should be, and coldly reminds us that true evil holds no regard for the innocence of a child. In fact, malicious entities will often use that same illusion of innocence and safety to lure its victims into a false sense of security. I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me anyways lol.

The number of people commenting that this reminds them of the dreams they've had, which was the immediate response I had when I played this, coupled with the fact that the developer was only 18 years old makes me wonder. The dialogue was fantastic. Most organic dialogue yet. You can also tell the difference between a cutscene and hollow playing because his mechanical skills are horrible 😂
the giant doll is actually a RayRay created by Raymond Persi, although the dolls have also appeared in a creepy video called blank room soup or feaky soup guy
The "monster" in this game is from that video of those characters forcing a guy to eat soup lolol😂
Hollowwww, I’ve been on your channel since you started cod ww2, I love your enthusiasm and your down to earth commentary man.
A note on the graphics: This game doesn't seem like the noise/VHS filter is really covering up that much unrealistic details. Also so cool that they so accurately recreated Kane Pixels backrooms.
The shaders and camera movement are really neat.
Playing this game without having seen Kane pixels videos would be terrifying!
Thank you for putting these out, I love watching these !
Yoo 😂 that chair definitely reminded me of wet carpet. And you’re 100% correct. It’s the most depressing smell ever. Especially when you add a few Marlboros to it over the years. 🤢
Hollow PLEASE play the darkness!! its a really old game but the story is sooo gooood you would love it 😢❤
I was waiting for you to play this! It’s about to get crazy👹
24:44 That moment you duck irl when looking under something in game. 🥴😂😂
The dude with black eyes is the same watching the crying man eating his soup video
This game feels like every church I was ever in growing up. super creepy.
No jumpscares and monsters and I slept. Dont worry. Nice graphics though.
LETS GOOOOOO!!!!!! Worked this morning then the gym. Just to get home my gf cooked and hollow uploaded 😎😎😎
Life is good
