    Good to see even a dufis like Me can do this. I'm going to bake My first loaf tonight for My dying Mother who wanted to smell the bread baking to remind Her of Her Mom (My Grandma). How could I say no Mom, I don't know how ! There is no instruction manual with Her machine so I was lost. Thanks Brother for this video. It will make My Mom and I happy.

    Thank you for the tips. I've had a Breadman bread machine for about 15 years, just sitting in its original box, and decided to use it for the first time this evening. It came with a DVD to watch, but we haven't had one of those for years now. Watching your video has taken away any nervousness I have about making our first loaf of bread. Thanks again.

      We love ours. My wife uses hers to make the dough for homemade breads of all types. She likes to bake it herself but the machine makes the dough for her, saving hours of work.

    I see these machines all the time at the thrift stores. Having a loaf of bread, some cooked rice or beans on hand is a great way to build a meal around & make your money stretch. In the past I used mine mainly for pizza dough, but have been making bread now and the kids prefer it to store bought. I have a recipe for a quick white loaf (58 minutes) which saves money on energy and tastes just as good as the regular loaf. Same ingredients minus the powdered milk.

    I sort of agree with you, if you see my recent videos I am living off the grid in a camper in the forest with no appliances at all. The only thing I have is a coffee grinder now.
    But I try to teach all people as much as I can to help them with their lives. Whatever skills I have, I share. This was one of them.
    By the way, my break maker recipe is famous among people who know me.
    Thanks for your input.

    I have not tried fruit much, but seeds and nuts. I love to experiment and try new things with this. I accidentally used double the water once and it turned into a cake. Now I use it as a recipe with sugar and spices. Then bake it with fruit on top. My friends love it.

    Thats a nice story. Mine is just about the same. After the Army, I stayed in Germany for many years and had a nice bread machine. But after returning to the US, I searched for a good machine for a while, but was not happy with price/quality.
    Then one day I found this treasure at a garage sale for $20 because it had a dent in the side. It was only used once, they said. I came home, looked it up and saw it was worth $120. And it is a good machine.

  • @TheDoItYourselfWorld

    Everyone has his/her preferences. I actually first did this video to show a friend and it got sort of popular. A lot of people prefer a machine. I am single and busy, so the ease of tossing in the ingredients and walking away is great.
    Now I live off the grid and dont make bread anymore. It just takes too much time, really, for me.

    I bake bread every week and I've found your little teaspoon that you're using is very close to an actual measuring teaspoon. And same for the tablespoon. The longer that it takes for the bread to rise, the more flavor is developed. Btw, I don't even have a mixer, all the mixing and kneading I do is by hand. Bread machines are convenient because you fill it come back in 3 hours to finished bread.

      +geo80551 It's great for measuring the flour. When I made my first loaf, I took it right out of the bag with a one cup measuring cup, big mistake. So the next time, after going to King Arthur's site, I followed the instructions to put some in a bowl, fluff it, put it in a scoop, then into the cup and level it off. When I experimented by doing it the wrong way into the bowl, but then measuring it out properly, I found I had over used the flour by almost a cup. Lesson learned. The guy in the video uses a liquid measuring cup to measure the flour!

Trust me, I threw away 2 loaves of failed bread the last 2 days. The top caved in or it was hard as a rock. Lastnight I decided to give it one more try before I went back to just making it from scratch. I found your video on youtube. I used your recipe, set up breadmaker and went to bed. This morning BEHOLD perfect bread. I am so happy. I just sliced off 2 slices and toasted them. O my.. delish delish…

    • @zigg99
      @zigg99 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      you can use normal milk. What you would do is replace the liquid in the recipe ( in this case warm water ) and replace it with warm milk and omit the milk powder.
      Note: You would need to use powdered milk if you were setting the timer to bake it overnight. If you did used fresh milk to do an overnight loaf it would spoil before the bread was baked.

    • @kenrandy9836
      @kenrandy9836 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Acrticgypsy so for milk can you suggest the timing ? as for powder the video used 3:15 hour/mins, if fresh milk then the time will be less? and does it have to be same amount like the water?

    • @zigg99
      @zigg99 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I norm warm the milk in the microwave on 70% power for about 2.5 to 3 minutes. Stir it half way, and check the temp at 2 minutes. you want it about 110F

    The best way to make bread is to follow the instructions in the manual that was given with the machine
    or use a bread mix which has all the ingredients in it ...apart from the water place the finished loaf on a wire cooling rack..works for me

      I have a breadmaker from the early 1990s. It was my mom's. She's been gone 24 years. Where is the manual? Your guess is as good as mine. Google is my friend when it comes to things like this.

      I think if more people realized ya didnt have to mix the dough up ahead of time there would be a lot fewer of these machines sitting in peoplea closets. It's why I never bought one.

    • @BeDangerousGroup

      You have to put the ingredients in the exact specific order to get the rudder to mix your dough. I didn't realize this and wound up with deformed cooked flour.
      Liquids first, then dry and it came out perfect!

    Homemade sourdough bread in the bread maker
    For the basic program of 500g flour, 4 hours
    ⁃ A 200g sourdough poolish (recipe below)
    ⁃ Organic flour 400g
    ⁃ Water 300g
    ⁃ Oil / butter 6g (optional)
    Put all the ingredients in the bowl and start the bread maker, it will do the rest 🙂
    4 hours later you will have delicious bread that will give you health and energy.
    Sourdough poolish:
    ⁃ 25-30g sourdough
    ⁃ 100g of flour of your choice (pure wheat or mixture)
    ⁃ 100-110g water
    Mix all the ingredients, leave to work in a container three times the size, covered, for about 8 hours.

    1st loaf, gone last night. 2nd loaf, I made it for her dad. 3rd loaf, I added some organic honey. I'll let you know how it turns out. 2 tbs of honey btw
    Edit: update, the honey loaf came out way too dense...not sure where I screwed up :-/
    I'm just gonna use the KISS method. Keep it simple stupid...your loaf is perfect.

      D'Glester Hardunkichud try using the the honey to feed the yeast to active first then add the flower ,salt , Oil and so forth it will give you a better that’s lighter

    Does the paddle stick inside your loaf? This works. Cut a slip of paper 1/8 inch wide and 2 inches long. Put it through the paddle hole and force it on to the shaft. Tear off excess. When bread is removed, add water to pan, let sit and then pull paddle from shaft. Works every time for me.

    • @TheDoItYourselfWorld

      Thank you. Actually there are some bread recipes that call for milk powder. I guess you could mix the milk powder with water in the proper proportions according to the milk powder package, then toss it in.

    Are you able to or do you remove the blade prior to going into baking cycle? My machine is (some consider Vintage 1996), and it's always a pain removing the blade out of the loaf.... I've thought of removing blade, just never have.....

    • @SuperSaltydog77

      +Dreemwever I borrowed my neighbors bread machine one day to compare it to my hand made loaf and I had the same problem. Getting to blade out of the bottom of the bread was nearly impossible.

      Marcia Hamilton Hoping you have better luck than I did with bread machines. I don't remember what brand of machine my neighbor has and I've already returned it. Now I make bread by hand (not even a mixer) and I prefer this over any machine.
