You will get an audience, sure, but you'll hardly find any decent content on these platforms that aren't political or abhorrent nightmares. Vanillo is doing relatively well in it's own field but could do well with a few more content creators joining, given their more stricter and more moderated platform as compared to the likes of VidLii or Odysee.

Right now there are more people streaming Casino and slots on Twitch (~38k + ~25k) than on Kick (~45k). Sure Twitch banned it, but they dont enforce anything. Only when it comes to big creators, but Twitch doesn't want to lose that watchtime that comes with casinos too. Don't really see that big of a moral high ground on Twitch's side. Especially if you think about Amazon being their corporate sponsor.
And I don't know if I was just lucky but I never got any ads about casinos or slots on Kick. They are backed by some shady crypto stuff, but that site is weirdly staying away from showing any casino ads. I bet it will come in the future, when enough people followed their favorite Creator to that site, but right now I'm kinda rooting for Kick. Twitch is just not transparent enough with their creators, especially when it comes to things that got you banned (I mean come on... live secks on stream and only 7 days ban??? but some other creators get permabanned for the most ridiculous stuff). Kinda like TH-cam is doing with that monetization thing. Maybe this whole stuff going on right now leads to more changes in every streaming site making them all more fair for the creators. Well... I can dream..

I wouldn't have a problem with kick if it was genuinely created to be a competitor to twitch instead of a literal cash cow for stake, the gambling site that funds kick.
The entire reason that kick was created was because trainwreckstv, the mastermind behind it, got so mad that twitch banned gambling off their website, that he had to go and create a completely new platform just to gamble. He lost all his viewership because of it and was stakes biggest proponent, which is why he teamed up with stake to make its own independent entity. Why would stake even fund kick if train didnt promise them that it would lead to higher influx of users and revenue for them? All of these high profile signings and promises of better streaming wages and freedoms are simply just to drive viewership and in turn increase profit for stake. Like no matter what anyone says you cant deny why kick was created and that it completely promotes gambling. Like I hate defending twitch and I agree that its gotten worse over time, but atleast its not so blatant as to outright promote an actual problem.
Give us a livestreaming service with the "benefits" that kick is promoting and the functional platform that twitch has created, without the promition of real world issues, and we have an actual replacement for twitch.

2:17 If the purpose for a product that is literally the same as the other product, is to be competition to make sure the other product doesn't innovate... Then its safe to say that the product works perfectly fine, its just that, well, in the cases of TH-cam, Twitch, Facebook, Twitter, etc, they will eventually become defective, if given enough time. My opinions on the matter though, is that if something an't broke, then we're not looking hard enough for issues, or perhaps we're ignoring issues in the first place with our product, regardless of the existence of competition... and its even more likely that we have a blindspot or just don't have the motivation to improve our product anymore - maybe we should hand over our product to someone else(afterall its either this or, well, thousands of peoples files get deleted as the social media itself is deleted and we decide to move onto a different one, or maybe instead we hand people harddrives with all their user data on it, I dunno, I guess it could work, but it'd also be a bit sad having to say good bye to something just cause the higher ups had an issue that we never got to decide on how they acted upon it, as consumers)?
Generally though, I just think that, if someones already come up with an idea, why the fuck do we need to come up with that same idea again but under a new brand name? From my utilitarian perspective, I see it as pointless, and the only reason this stuff happens, is because of capitalism, which creates needless competition between Social Media A and Social Media B, cause without it, there's less profit to be made. They couldn't give a shit less about the consumer, any changes made, are only because they want more money... And these changes would be a lot faster if TH-cam and all the other social media companies actually cared about the userbase... Or maybe there are some people who do, but they're not the ones in control of these social media companies... Who knows!? I don't.
3:02 Oh, Stake's the one who owns Kick... Almost forgot that they existed! Oh boy, their business model definitely will continue to give them flack, if anyone else remembers that they were a crypto company, and the issues that come with crypto as a whole as it currently stands - that being that its basically gambling your cash to see if you can pump and dump it all out quickly enough before everyone else does so!

Besides the fact their interface isn't great, they have a huge amount of legal liability.
The first thing XQC did after getting his contract with Kick was he streamed a movie. I don't mean clips, I mean they streamed a whole fucking movie. The legal liability of that goes beyond the value he brings to Kick as a platform.
Kick has a reputation of being sketchy. That reputation isn't going away when they start off their new contract with a major copyright infringement. If this ends with a lawsuit against Kick, it defeats the purpose of signing on bigger names.

i've checked kick not too long ago, several times throughout the day and while I do want healthy competition to take out twitch, in all honesty the amount of streamers who are on kick isn't really surprising, i know you mentioned over 5k viewers in gta rp, i checked it and there were like 10 streamers on that category, 1 of them was pulling a little over 5k while the others were 10 viewer andys, the 5k guy was arabian so good luck understanding that...again...not impressive..
i checked my favorite categories...mainly pokemon...man was i dissapointed...only 200 viewers in all categories...numbers can be deceiving guys...kick right now is only making waves because muta, x, amouranth and cr1tikal talk about it, they need to reach out to even more smaller streamers to really pull them in, problem is twitch is still keeping them, or rather...these streamers are still feeling a web sticky connection to twitch and see no reason whatsoever to leave, it's not like small streamers see much of a benefit to jump to kick...they probably see it as a negative because while on twitch they got their 100 to 400 view count, they see it as a very risky potentially lose lose situation if they just jump ship to kick and lose like 90% of their viewership...
until those guys leave, twitch is still king in the monopoly, because 95% of all streamers on twitch are small streamers with 10 to 500 viewers.

One difference that'd also probably impacting the cost and financial viability of Kick vs Twitch is the # of employees. Twitch has over 1,100 employees, while Kick has somewhere in the 10-50 range (hard to specifically tell.) So the operating cost is likely so significantly lower that they can afford the better sub split because they have something like 97% less overhead from employees. That said, I'm sure Stake backing is also a big factor. But it's not like Kick has the same operating cost that Twitch does, which likely does give them some degree of flexibility vs Twitch which struggles to make a profit even with ad revenue.

If they hardly make anything from ads or streamer revenue, I don't know how Kick expects to pay for the massive server space they'll need. They're entirely banking on the crypto gambling side, which I can't imagine will last forever. Kick reeks of major "tech bro" vibes to me.
However, Twitch does indeed suck, and it's a joy seeing them finally being confronted with serious competition (besides YT of course). For years, they've been amazingly incompetent in basically every way, and they'd get away with it because there was simply nowhere else for us to go. Will they finally start to improve now?
