Thank you for this fantastic video.
Do you divide your tubers in the fall or spring? Since you have so many, do you bother searching for an eye before dividing? Or do you just divide them all, then plant them all, and whatever comes up, comes up?

We divide in the winter. Since I’ve been growing dahlias for so long, finding eyes isn’t difficult anymore, but I don’t necessarily divide to single tubers anymore on some of our more prolific varieties. We plant specific quantities, so we do inventory dahlia tubers as we divide each winter.

Love your videos. What is the dahlia at 13:00?

The little pink one is called Camano Love and the fushia one is called Brittany Rey.

I notice a lot put their dahlias in hot water when they cut them. I have never done it. Does it improve vase life?

I, personally, have never used this method. We use Quick Dip and cool water when processing, which is just more efficient for the amount of dahlias we’re harvesting and designing with. Maybe I’ll do a test at the shop this year to see how it works in my climate. ☺️
