Wanna know how influential Akira Toriyama was? I’m currently watching Bleach and just a few days ago. I discovered that the creator. Tite Kubo was given a letter from Toriyama himself, and encouraged him to try again after he was rejected from Shonen Jump before. The fact that Bleach went on to become one of the all-time anime goats is a testament to how influential ToriYama is and it is disgusting that a piece of garbage like that Kindred wants to spit on his grave while we are all grieving.
I remember learning about this, what a man he was to see something he really liked and went out of his way to push Kubo to creating his own iconic manga. Truly a legend. RIP 🐉
I've never heard a single person talk negative about Toriyama. Ever. Bleach, YuYu Hakusho, Naruto, One Piece all these great series wouldn't even exist without Toriyamas great Influence. It was Pokemon who ruined Mr. Popo because a black woman saw Jynx while her kid was watching an episode around Winter 1996-97 and complained about it. This pushed every single similar looking character/colored character to be altered in color to a nasty blue or purple shade. The two were in no way representative of anything in black culture though. Toriyama-Sensei was a legend and the reason i became an artist. Dragon Ball's impact on my life and how it shaped me as a person was all due to him. I will always remember and respect him, for he is the Godfather Shounen and an insanely great inspiration. It's not that they care about being forgotten. It's that they hunt and seek whatever is beloved specifically by men, and the end goal is to 'deconstruct' that and turn it into something else entirely. They look at Toriyama, they see the praise he was getting, and they wish they could deconstruct his work as well... same way they did it to everything Marvel.
Toriyama's work inspired generations of kids. Son Goku was the Symbol of the Olympics 2020. As a Black man, I can say, many of us knew Mr. Popo wasnt Black, we have seen the Black characters Toriyama created, and they were always just that, Black. He did over exaggerate their features, notably their lips, but we looked past it and forgave it for the most part. Black anime characters in general are usually mostly drawn with overly exaggerated features; Usopp from One Piece, Chocolove McDonnel from Shaman King, Simon from Durarara, even a character or two from One Punch Man. Toriyama-san's influence on anime and manga as we know it today is nothing short of highly influential. It still does not stop the fact that those same other creators were inspired to make changes to Black characters however; Tosen Kaname and Yoruichi from Bleach, the ENTIRE village Hidden in the Clouds in Naruto, hell, on the revamped Shaman King, they changed Chocolove's look. But one thing we will NOT do nor allow, is for anyone to trash that man's name, period. My buddy was talking to me about it and he always thought that I said DragonBall wasnt the best anime ever when that wasnt the case in any sense. He just misunderstood it when I said Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite anime of all time, however, that doesnt take away the fact that DragonBall is THE anime. It popularized the entire genre and made it marketable not only in the US, but the entire globe. The entire anime and manga industry was catapulted in popularity thanks in most part to DragonBall,. Credits goto Sailor Moon and Yu Yu Hakusho as well, but the king was and is DragonBall. The sheer amount of creators that copied his work is basically endless and look at all the great creations we got because of ONE show... Naruto, Bleach, One Piece , hell I remember watching an episode of Dr. Stone and guess who made the most random appearance despite it making no sense to show him... Goku. Goku popped up in a show about science of ALL things, goes to show that even NON action oriented anime are still somehow influenced by just DragonBall. Akira Toriyama-san's name will remain protected. Hell, the man was basically the Japanese Stan Lee of anime. If that is true, then it means they really are not looking for diversity, but rather, they want to implement THEIR view of diversity, which ironically, is not that diverse. Also, it means, they will fail. Because they want to force their product even if they know people won't buy it, expecting that people will eventually accept those works as the new standard. That simply won't happen, you can't force people to change what they desire to consume. So, is not that people surrender to consume what is standard, but the standard is a reflection of what people desire to consume. In the market, what people don't want to consume will eventually always disappear. So, the only bad news, is that it seems they really will only stop after they bankrupt the companies they work with, which means a lot of companies will stop existing before this is solved.

Wanna know how influential Akira Toriyama was? I’m currently watching Bleach and just a few days ago. I discovered that the creator. Tite Kubo was given a letter from Toriyama himself, and encouraged him to try again after he was rejected from Shonen Jump before. The fact that Bleach went on to become one of the all-time anime goats is a testament to how influential ToriYama is and it is disgusting that a piece of garbage like that Kindred wants to spit on his grave while we are all grieving.

So I grew up in a small town, and I did have three black friends. But we all knew each other since we were in preschool. When it came to breaking the ice with people from other cultures, I was really awkward about it. And I stayed that way until college. One year I had a humanities class And we had to do a presentation on hobbies. I chose Dragon Ball Z and it’s cultural impact. After class I had literally five black dudes. Who wanted to talk to me about Dragon Ball Z. Toriyama’s work broke cultural barriers. It was Pokemon who ruined Mr. Popo because a black woman saw Jynx while her kid was watching an episode around Winter 1996-97 and complained about it. This pushed every single similar looking character/colored character to be altered in color to a nasty blue or purple shade. The two were in no way representative of anything in black culture though. Woke activists wouldn't know this though to any real extent and just cling to the latest ideas they can twist.
They only look at the surface. Always. Toriyama's work inspired generations of kids. Son Goku was the Symbol of the Olympics 2020. Those people could not have found a better example to prove to the whole world how small spirited, jealous, mean and spiteful they really are. they will never even come close to Toriyamas Greatness, so spitting on his legacy is all they can do.
As a Black man, I can say, many of us knew Mr. Popo wasnt Black, we have seen the Black characters Toriyama created, and they were always just that, Black. He did over exaggerate their features, notably their lips, but we looked past it and forgave it for the most part. Black anime characters in general are usually mostly drawn with overly exaggerated features; Usopp from One Piece, Chocolove McDonnel from Shaman King, Simon from Durarara, even a character or two from One Punch Man. Toriyama-san's influence on anime and manga as we know it today is nothing short of highly influential. It still does not stop the fact that those same other creators were inspired to make changes to Black characters however; Tosen Kaname and Yoruichi from Bleach, the ENTIRE village Hidden in the Clouds in Naruto, hell, on the revamped Shaman King, they changed Chocolove's look.
But one thing we will NOT do nor allow, is for anyone to trash that man's name, period. My buddy was talking to me about it and he always thought that I said DragonBall wasnt the best anime ever when that wasnt the case in any sense. He just misunderstood it when I said Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite anime of all time, however, that doesnt take away the fact that DragonBall is THE anime. It popularized the entire genre and made it marketable not only in the US, but the entire globe. The entire anime and manga industry was catapulted in popularity thanks in most part to DragonBall,. Credits goto Sailor Moon and Yu Yu Hakusho as well, but the king was and is DragonBall. The sheer amount of creators that copied his work is basically endless and look at all the great creations we got because of ONE show... Naruto, Bleach, One Piece , hell I remember watching an episode of Dr. Stone and guess who made the most random appearance despite it making no sense to show him... Goku. Goku popped up in a show about science of ALL things, goes to show that even NON action oriented anime are still somehow influenced by just DragonBall. Akira Toriyama-san's name will remain protected. Hell, the man was basically the Japanese Stan Lee of anime. In the way that people typically think of Stan The Man Lee when it comes to comics, people think of Akira Toriyama when it comes to anime. Rest In Power forever Toriyama-san, we all miss you dearly..

If that is true, then it means they really are not looking for diversity, but rather, they want to implement THEIR view of diversity, which ironically, is not that diverse. Also, it means, they will fail. Because they want to force their product even if they know people won't buy it, expecting that people will eventually accept those works as the new standard. That simply won't happen, you can't force people to change what they desire to consume. So, is not that people surrender to consume what is standard, but the standard is a reflection of what people desire to consume. In the market, what people don't want to consume will eventually always disappear. So, the only bad news, is that it seems they really will only stop after they bankrupt the companies they work with, which means a lot of companies will stop existing before this is solved.
They need an extortion charge, this way alot of companies can come out and say it happened to them as well. This ESG movement could be buried in lawsuits for decades. Basically even a little substantial accountability on these people can open the flood gates.
It's probably already happening and they're just trying to keep it quiet because I heard a few weeks ago that Disney was getting sued again because of dei and discriminating against whites, Jews and Asians I think, regardless many states have laws against discrimination and people being either not hired or fired because of their race, and many people have already won in states you wouldn't expect like California and Oregon .

A bit personal here, but I’m a high functioning autistic person, and one of my main fixations because of that is dragon ball, and Chrono Trigger is my favorite game ever, so obviously Akira Toriyama and his work means a lot to me, and my stomach just churns with disgust because of that person basically taking a potshot at Toriyama now that he’s gone.
