It is NOT a talent equated game, Birm. Every recruiting board .. and you .. tell us this. Do you feel like you've changed your mind-set in play-calling from when you first became the Buckeyes coach to now?"
You can't be creative and aggressive with subpar qb play. It works great with Justin fields and CJ stroud. Both 1st rd picks. Kyle will be lucky to go in supplemental draft.

Yea if urban Meyer was coaching this team they would have lost randomly to Wisconsin in October, won this game, and gone on to get blown out by a southern team by 31 points in January.
@@mikegreen3506 I thought all year this team won in spite of McCord, I just hoped he wouldn’t cost this game but he did. If anyone wants to blame day for this loss blame him for choosing McCord.
Austin keeps saying Ohio State is a top 4 program. We don't have a top 4 (or even top 20) QB. It starts there. Day missed on QB in the 2021 cycle. I'm sure Ewers re-classifying threw it all off but bottom line that room isn't right and if it doesn't get fixed we can have the best special teams in the world and we won't win 'talent equated' games where our QB cannot make plays.
And it doesn’t matter. How many times have we not involved the “ best players in college football “ this season specifically! MHJ, Cade Stover and the rest barely got it. The attempts at Trey up the middle has NEVER worked. He is great at the open field and the perimeter but hes not a power or visionary back. We have been playing with great player who have been mismanaged for years under Day! Of course there are the usuals of refs trying their hardest. But the ONLY way to negate that is to dominate on all fronts and blow em out!
As a Michigan fan, 2 things. 1. The OSU guys I've seen on post-game shows today have class. There were 3 decisions Ryan Day made that I was VERY relieved over. Letting the clock run to end the 1st half. 2. Punting on 4th & short in 2nd half. 3. Getting away from the run after that all-run drive (we felt "beaten" at that point, even though the score was tied). 4. Keeping a 7-8 man box on Michigan's last drive (It's like trying to avoid what happened in the 4th quarter of last year's game, cost them this year's game). UofM was going to run period. lWhen the opponent is "relieved" with the opposing coach's decision, it's a bad sign. Day is a good coach. But when a team gets in another coaches head, it's almost impossible to overcome it. But, how do fire a coach that goes 11-1 every year? Cooper hung around for 10 years, and as a UofM fan, we were "relieved" with that decision. With all that said, big respect to OSU. I would NOT want to play them again.
Respect to your comment. Glad to see non toxic fans on either side. Best of luck for the rest of your season. I was glad to see what seemed like a relatively clean game from these teams. Considering the off-field stuff and the build up I was worried there would be scuffles and there really weren’t.

Moment of truth, we all need to admit to ourselves that a National Championship will never be won with McCord as QB 1. If you don't think that then you are lying to yourself. Regardless of the coach, coaches don't play. Lastly, you don't make 9 million dollars a year and not consistently beat the one team that you are paid 9 million dollars a year to beat. Hard facts. Irony. Can't stand it.
McCarthy outplayed McCord and they won, simple as that. McCord is not good enough to be the buckeyes qb. He threw an early pick in his own red zone then finished the game off with a terrible pick when he had wide open check downs available. He's a one read qb that's just average at best. Send him to the portal immediately.
@@vladchenkov9215 McCord crumbled on that last int as well. The o-line held up pretty well throughout the game against a really good d-line. McCarthy didn't have a perfect clean pocket on every throw but he showed poise, avoided the rush and made plays down the field on several occasions. McCord pocket presence is awful. You simply can't make that throw in that situation, period. I don't care if they got some pressure on him on that play. He has to be able to make plays under pressure or he isn't good enough.
@@vladchenkov9215 no, he actually move several steps forward in the pocket and got hit as he was trying to make the throw. Trying to squeeze that throw in that spot under pressure was the wrong decision while he had Henderson open on the sideline check down. But this is what McCord does. He is not good under pressure. He can't consistently function without a perfect clean pocket but you can't expect that on every play when facing good teams. Good teams are gonna get pressure sometimes and he has to be able to make plays regardless just like McCarthy did.
McCarthy had 140 yds passing and his 1 TD was an interception that they called a TD on field and had to stick with. McCord's inconsistency, lack of mobility and 2 crucial bad ints that led to a TD and ended the game killed the team but don't act like McCarthy was lighting the world on fire.
Day cannot rely on McCord .. so why does he? McCord cannot stand for long in the pocket and pick apart a D. So give him easier plays to manage .. like the 20 yard quick pass to Egbuka in the 3rd Q. 101 football. Can't wait for Air Noland .. IF Ryan Day gives him proper plays to operate with too. Day was not innovate .. at all. UM's Moore coached .. like Ryan used too .. as if he had nothing to lose. I miss the old Ryan Day. Jim Hairball currently lived rent free in Ryan's head. Lame.

Why Ryan Day doesn’t call a play the first series that out of the norm still baffles me. He doesn’t trust the QB is part of it. I’m not being mean but Mccord needs to transfer, he doesn’t have it for this level.
@9:50 this guy is so emotionally damaged. Stumbling through his response. Roman Wilson catch and TOUCHDOWN was exactly that. Correct call on the field. Like Ryan Day, dude can’t let it go. Cry about it. GO BLUE!
*This was the most predictable loss that I can remember in 30yrs. Ohio State hasn't gotten 3qtrs out of McCord the entire year. He had one good half against Michigan St......and that's it. This team is soft, lacks focus, and is horribly coached in big games.* McCord has been a disaster ALL YEAR, with Wisconsin being McCord's proudest game. Between McCord being horrible beyond words, and Day's ongoing complete lack of creativity with his play-calling, we saw this coming from week 5. *All UM had to do was stop the run....which they did for the most part. Once they did that, they could just sit back and let McCord (and Day) self-destruct.* And, that's EXACTLY what happened.
Agreed. Day picked McCord over JJ....he's his baby. And McCord cannot play under any kind of pressure whatsoever. Everyone knows this. And the Ohio RBs got hundreds of yards running up against JV teams. Michigan aint one of those.
I honestly do not get the McCord hate, the pick in the beginning wasn't even his fault...I can blame him for the last one because he has to see the blitz coming and get rid of the ball way quicker but outside of that I thought McCord did what was asked of him and could have won the game I honestly hope McCord transfers and has a Joe burrow-esque senior year just so hateful buckeye fans have to suffer through it for not appreciating him at all...this game falls on coaching no way I'd have thought Day gets out coached by Sherron Moore but alas...he did. Smh RD just did not do everything he could have done to put his team in a position to win after watching what the other sideline did there is no way he feels like he did

And, if that happens, we hope he succeeds where every he goes. No one wishes him ill-will. He just absolutely sucks as Ohio States QB. And, there’s a very small amount of truth to one of your comments. It’s not entirely McCords fault…it’s very much Day’s, as well. But, I got news for you… There is NO team in Division 1 college football who would take him, unless they were beyond desperate, and in an emergency situation. You clearly haven’t been paying attention.
@@doctordetroit4339 Yup. Been saying that ALL year. Although, JJ is nothing to write home about either. He’s had is bad moments. But, over-all, he doesn’t make the horrible decisions McCord does, and he’s mobile. And, UM didn’t play their best game today, either. They just didn’t make the text-book mistakes that, ever Buckeye fan KNEW would happen, the second McCord dropped back to pass. I don’t ever remember being terrified of a QB every time he went to throw a ball, thinking there’s at LEAST a 40% chance their will be a pick, and an 80% chance of an incompletion. It makes me sick to see the WR talent we have go to waste due to a QB that can’t step up. Stroud was a little like that in the beginning, but he improved. McCord has two modes….bad and catastrophic . We’re loaded with talent, but it’s completely moot when the worst player on the team is the QB. I truly think that when Ewers transferred back to TX, that threw Day into a tailspin. But, that doesn’t excuse Day picking McCord over Brown. Nor does it excuse Day’s equally horrible play calling, and clock management. OSU had one hell of a run with this rivalry. Everything comes to an end, as it should, in a healthy rivalry. As long as UM is doing things above board, most of us will say “well done”.
Take your loss like a man and stop questioning whether or not it was an interception in the end zone. Once he ran across the line with the ball the play is over. You know, we all know it.
Hell the first opening drive of the game he had a WR running open towards the corner of the end zone. A leading pass that direction would have been a TD. Instead he chose the WR doing an out route and covered well who was just under that receiver who would have scored a TD if tossed to him. I mean he was freaking looking in the same direction of both men and instead he took the guy who was covered well.
I don’t want the Buckeyes in the playoffs. Ryan Day would just lose again. I hate Ryan Day he sucks in The game. Ryan Day needs to go. I feel if you lose three in a row it is time to be fired. Ryan Day can not handle the pressure. Just watch him on the side lines. His face just tell the whole story. 5:56 !
We just need a change at QB, and possibly at the HC. This just feels like Cooper 2.0, great coach but cannot get it done in the big game. And if he didn't feel that the QB was getting it done, why not make a change? I mean what was there to lose, or maybe at least bring Brown in at the same time.
This is all on Day! He is responsible for what happens. In big games he’s proving to be mediocre at best given the talent he has to work with! I mean, if you can’t get it done with what we have had the last three years what do you do?
It's been said all over the place this afternoon but we've played well in spite of McCord all season and this Michigan team is the best they've ever had and we can't beat a team like this with a middle of the conference quarterback. It's a shame to think of how good this OSU team could have been with better QB.
Day has no vision on how to win in big games and to stubborn to give others QB a chance. I said from the beginning McCord is not an OSU QB. TTUN wanted this game so bad they tried a running QB and a halfback pass to keep the chains moving. What did R. Day do absolutely nothing.
Hey am a neutral observer but that play looked like a touchdown for Michigan to me remember all the ball has to do is touch or go over the paint & he possessed it long enough before the Ohio state player took it away
I swear these buckeye commentators are hilarious! Now it’s the referees took the ball away from us. It should’ve been an interception.😢 Once the ball broke the plane, Roman Wilson was in possession the TD count you say we’re cheating, you said it was too cold, you said CJ had the flu, we didn’t make one excuse when we lost seven straight to urban. Liar. 2 looks so stupid on our field. Beat it clowns go blue.
Oh stop with the officials! Clear TD, and you know it. That fact is M scored on every possession in the 2nd half. Ran it down your throat and got the W. #stillsoft
GGs, Nuts. Sucks that this is the last year we are gonna get "The Game" with everything to play for. Next year this game would have been for playoff seeding with the top 12 playoff.
I think that this is the latest installment of Ryan Day’s immaturity. His concern about Lou Holtz’s comments and his play calling and lack of preparation for this day is the latest.I think that Ohio State really needs to decide if they wish to keep going in this direction.
I think Ryan Day is a good coach, but he may never get another win over Michigan. Sure feels like he plays not to lose in this game. When Ohio State had their win streak with Tressel and Myer they won the line of scrimmage and with toughness, that just isn't there under coach Day.
I disagree with every word that Austin said. One thing is Knowles played passive on defense and Kyle had 2 ints. That was the defense. Nothing else cost them the game.
Gene Smith retiring. New AD coming in. Sure there will be discussions about Ryan Day. Be interesting to see how warm Day's seat gets in '24. He has basically puckered up in the biggest games. He has two signature wins...scUM in '19 and Clemson in '20. Does Utah count in '21? Losses to Alabama, Georgia, and three straight to scUM is beginning to conjure up memories of John Cooper. Don't get me started on Kyle McCord.😂 Three years at OSU and I saw th e same guy basically every week. Didnt see a lot of progression and improvement throughout the season. Maybe that is because he barely saw the field the last two seasons. Or maybe not everyone can be a Dwayne Haskins, Justin Fields, or C.J. Stroud and the Buckeyes whiffed on the QB lottery this time. After today, I lost all confidence in McCord. He is who I thought he was in the end.
Buckeyes fans were so happy about beating Minnesota last week and beating Notre Dame earlier in the season, News Flash, Michigan ain’t Minnesota or Notre Dame !!!!!! Michigan is the two time defending Big Ten Champions !!!
I agree on special teams. A program like Ohio State should have an elite kicker and punter every season. We had them consistently over the last two decades. Not sure what changed. There’s no excuse.
It's still so weird being the loser in this rivalry. For the better part of two decades it was always Michigan lamenting the loss year after year and now it's us.
Tell me why McCord and Harrison are sitting on the warm bench at the end of the game instead of trying to inspire their defense, looked really sad to me

Team played tight, Michigan played loose. Ryan Day in a nutshell.
You are one of the reasons I stopped following the buckeyes on their pages
@@35547Why? He stated the truth. Even former Buckeyes are saying the same thing.
I just don’t think we handle adversity as well. They do. Maybe that’s more a reflection of the coaching.
@@35547then why are you still here dummy?
@madelynlaughbaum3554 I guess you like to be lied to.
Of course Austin spinning this on the defense that carried the team all season and not addressing the real issue. Kyle McCord is not a good QB and he hasn’t been all season. Wonder if he still thinks this is “just another game”. The interception in the 1st quarter was the difference. Hats off to Michigan, they are better at fundamentals and pulled out a gritty win. QB competition 100% needs to be open in 2024
The defense gave up 13 points on Michigans last 3 drives 170+ yds and almost 15 minutes of possession. The defense was dogshit in 2nd half. And also forced no turnovers
I blame the qb and defense coordinator we got out coached again
tOSU defense was bad in the 2nd half. Michigan got the ball with 8 mins left in the 4th and took 7 mins off the clock. Their defense couldnt get off the field.
Harrison didn’t fight for that ball or attempt to break it up
Kyle McCord never improved throughout the season
Saying that Wilson’s TD wasn’t a TD is just straight bias
It is NOT a talent equated game, Birm. Every recruiting board .. and you .. tell us this. They played like they had nothing to lose .. we played like we just hoped our regular every day play-calling would be enough. Their assistant coach stepped up .. our head coach did not. Wish you guys would ask Ryan .. "Ryan, you seemed to be much more aggressive and innovative when you first became the OSU coach.
Ryan Day does not know how to call run plays. He should have given up play calling. He is trying to micromanage and its killing the buckeyes.
McCord lost this game, and that is the story. I hate that for him, but this was on him.
Im pretty sure it wasnt McCord who scored on 5 out of its last 6 drives... just sayin
Two plays didn’t dictate this game please smarten up
Def line lost this one....
@@fletchlivesdaily348 I'm sure i will have different thoughts after a rewatch. I just know that the INT put or team behind, and the two missed throws took a td off the board.
I disagree, most of the blame is on Day. He knows who Mccord is and didn't put him in the best position to be successful.
Explain to me how Roman Wilson breaking the plane of the end zone with the ball ends up an Ohio State interception. Stop it
That throw to #2 when he got blown up. Was late and gave the safety time to get over. If you throw that on time its a huge play. Huge. Kyle was not good enough.
People are making WAY too many excuses for Ryan Day, man. Jim Knowles, too. They just can't get it done in these games, despite incredible talent.
FACTS! This is the same type of coaching that got JOHN COOPER fired! Gene Smith is buddy buddy with DAY and (off topic) Chris Holtman on the basketball team so he doesn’t have the guts to fire anybody. Plus Gene Smith is in his final season as AD anyways and he doesn’t want to ruffle any feathers. Unfortunately it looks like y’all are stuck with him unless DAY resigns and goes to the NFL. Knowles as the HIGHEST PAID defensive coach in the USA isn’t going anywhere either unless they want to give him that JIMBO FISHER type payout!
Time to get out of town Ryan Day
like I said: Ryan Day is much more loyal to his "limited" QB than he is to Buckeye nation 😡
Yea if urban Meyer was coaching this team they would have lost randomly to Wisconsin in October, won this game, and gone on to get blown out by a southern team by 31 points in January.
Good call. Buckeye nation does not want to accept both the talent and coaching may be overrated
Birm, love ya my man, but seriously?? OSU defense couldn’t get off the field in 2nd half AGAIN - Soft‼️
Just here to see if Austin blames this on everything except McCord again 😵💫🤨
Austin is a PURE LAME KYLE IS THE REASON PERIOD
Great take. GO BLUE
As for #3. I'll never understand how he could get away from the run and only use Trayanum three times.????
@@franciswesleyalexander3519yes. Treyvon not big enough to finish runs against UM. Trayanam had a great drive and then we took him out.
Just not enough offensive creativity IMO. No jet sweeps, screens, play action. O line run blocking inconsistent ALL year. D played pretty well despite the last drive ... I still put it more on the offense.
Well said
Kyle McCord lost us the game. It’s that simple.
No... the kicking game lost the game. We have a 3pt game vs a 6pt game on that last drive
McCord put us in the hole right off the bat
McCord lost us the game
And we woulda lost by 3 instead of 6, ignorant comment
the defense gave up 30pts lots of missed tackles and being out of postion, mccord does not play defense OR CALL PLAYS
McCord won’t have his HS classmate Marvin to win him the job in 2024. Both McCord picks were on Marvin targets.
some thought Lathan Ransom being out was good cuz Sonny could play more at safety...Sonny's lack of experience at safety hurt us a couple times today. Tommy missed a couple tackles, also.
Ryan Day is a good man and a good coach, but this kind of performance is unacceptable.
Parker Fleming shouldn’t even make it on the bus back home!

Hard facts. Irony. Can't stand it.
midcord was the prob.. need a level up at qb
Special teams is the problem. No urgency from either side of the ball in the problem, especially Knowles on that last drove.
Oline crumbled that last int
@@vladchenkov9215 McCord crumbled on that last int as well. The o-line held up pretty well throughout the game against a really good d-line. McCarthy didn't have a perfect clean pocket on every throw but he showed poise, avoided the rush and made plays down the field on several occasions. McCord pocket presence is awful. You simply can't make that throw in that situation, period. I don't care if they got some pressure on him on that play. He has to be able to make plays under pressure or he isn't good enough.
@@MrRollup10 I mean he took 2 steps and got blasted cause the oline failed. He should have ate the sack I think.
Lame.
It seems like coaches not born and raised in ohio coach this game scared. Specifically cooper and day.
McCord is not Ohio State material period, bad recruiting and time to develop the next guy. He should hit the portal on the bus trip back, I'm sure they have a transfer app, Toledo will need a QB
Play again next week?! Hell nooooo. Sherrone Moore would beat that ass again. RD was a fired NFL position coach. He inherited a program BUILT by Urb and has gone Cooper.
I'm beyond pissed about this game obviously Kyle mccord is not good enough because ryan day didn't want to try with him a quarterback plain and simple. I'm disgusted. PERIOD! seems like if you lie and cheat in this world you win. Just terrible.
3rd straight year we played tight as hell and scared. Ryan needs to give up play calls. Obviously not working
even if he gives up play calling it would be him deciding to go on 4th and 2.
Why Ryan Day doesn’t call a play the first series that out of the norm still baffles me. He doesn’t trust the QB is part of it. I’m not being mean but Mccord needs to transfer, he doesn’t have it for this level.
Transfer to LSU, win a heisman, and win the national championship?
Very well put. I agree with everything. I never have had confidence in McCord all season.
Smh RD just did not do everything he could have done to put his team in a position to win after watching what the other sideline did there is no way he feels like he did
@@darrisstransou Dude….you’re not even on the map, to be taking about this in an intelligent manner. You’ve said one thing that the other rational 99% of Buckeye fans ( who’ve watched the McCord train wreck happen in slow-motion from the first game), can ALL agree on…. We ALL hope McCord transfers.
3 plays turned the game. 1st INT. The INT that wasn't given. And the missed FG
what's the rule? not sure if play is dead once ball crosses goal line. bottom line - still have overcome that and find a way
Michigan fan here
I like you guys, you're fair and provide good commentary
We don’t deserve playoffs. We lost. We sucked. It’s that’s simple. 3 in a row? That’s a pattern, unfortunately for Day.
Punting on 4th and 1 from the 46 on their 2nd possession set the tone for the day. Going for it there would have shown this year is different.
This one is hard. I thought we had em on that last drive, McCord never learned to just throw it away and live to fight another day
Had Xavier Johnson wide open on the bottom
John Cooper, I mean Ryan Day DOES NOT HAVE THE KILLER INSTINCT. I have said this for the third year in a row. When will the powers that be see this??
We just need a change at QB, and possibly at the HC. This just feels like Cooper 2.0, great coach but cannot get it done in the big game. And if he didn't feel that the QB was getting it done, why not make a change? I mean what was there to lose, or maybe at least bring Brown in at the same time.
We need to file a complaint immediately with the athletic department and get these people out of here
I totally agree, Day is a predictable coach, he lacked balls, was not aggressive, was not tough, please try someone else at QB
Great season of coverage, guys. Thanks for your hard work.
Hey am a neutral observer but that play looked like a touchdown for Michigan to me remember all the ball has to do is touch or go over the paint & he possessed it long enough before the Ohio state player took it away
Anyone not from Ohio agrees with you.

#stillsoft
“Michigan wasn’t the better team” oh c’mon brotha let it go 😂 Michigan is better, tougher, and more disciplined than soft Ohio
And Holtz was spot on!
Ur right the aggressive team won...Day coached nervous again...he let those kids down..You play to win
Dude, shut up they lost they got out, rushed time of possession, and the most important part the scoreboard
Buckeyes fans were so happy about beating Minnesota last week and beating Notre Dame earlier in the season, News Flash, Michigan ain’t Minnesota or Notre Dame !!!!!! Michigan is the two time defending Big Ten Champions !!!
And they will get BODY SLAMMED in the playoffs, 😮so what's your point 😂😅😂
We need a qb with the running threat !!! Keeps teams on their toes !!! Mccord played good just came up short !!!
Mccord played like hot garbage
I agree on special teams.
A program like Ohio State should have an elite kicker and punter every season.
We had them consistently over the last two decades. Not sure what changed.
There’s no excuse.
It's still so weird being the loser in this rivalry. For the better part of two decades it was always Michigan lamenting the loss year after year and now it's us.
Yeah, man. And let me tell you….it sucked. Now do it 15/16 years and let me know how you feel.
Dude we lived through the 2-10-1 copper years. No need for us to live through two decades thrashing as Michigan did
As a Michigan fan that was a good analysis. In a nutshell, Coach Moore just outcoached Ryan Day.
Which should be a firable offense.
Think the concerning thing about Ryan Day is that he is consistently recruiting better talent than Michigan but achieving less.
Tell me why McCord and Harrison are sitting on the warm bench at the end of the game instead of trying to inspire their defense, looked really sad to me
Ward your guy cost them the game
