I know you guys are getting some flack for identifying areas that don't seem to be squared away when it seems clear that they should be. But, what I know for certain is that your critiques are motivated from wanting to see the buckeyes win and not just wanting to nit pick. Stay with it.
Little Austin requests to talk to LJ. OSU doesn’t owe little Austin anything. He has zero ties to The Ohio State University. Just here to monetize off our program.
Was Will Howard’s under-thrown downfield pass to Jeremiah Smith an outlier? I’m not convinced the coverage was that great. The defender wasn’t even looking back at the ball and hit a pick.
@@powerhouse539doesn’t matter. The ball should’ve been on the outside of the defender towards the sideline so only JJ could get it. Similar to a back shoulder fade. Howard threw a duck that fell way short and JJ didnt have a chance. Also, JJ will learn… as a wideout, you ALWAYS expect the ball on every pass play. You never know how the QB’s progressions will unfold.
A lot of criticism from media and some fans has been about lack of player depth, with a suggestions of, "just throw them out there" and they'll learn through experience. Well when you do that, you're not going to get perfect play because learning and failure go hand in hand. You're going to have to live with growing pains, and in the case of Marshall, those led to allowing 14 points (including a controversial TD) and a 2nd half shut out. Not necessarily the disaster some are making it out to be. This lack of patience is crazy! I mean, how many times did Knowles basically tell us Hicks wasn't ready to be a full time LB, yet people knew better, saying; why wait, just throw the kid out there, let him take his lumps, he'll learn. Well 3-4 games into CJ getting more field time, impatience kicks in and now its time to give up on Hicks as a LB, as if Simon and Eichenberg were perfect out the gate. We cant complain about lack of experience then expect the inexperienced to play without hiccups.
The fact of the matter is, Marshall took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards and consumed half of the first quarter against the supposed best defense in the Country. JT was non existent and the scheme left the middle of the line open for the QB to run. Larry Johnson has not had a dominant line since Chase Young. There is a disconnect between him and Knowles’s since Jim was hired. Day needs to get those on the same page or move on from them.
Being upset with the d-Line I would understand if it was the entire game. It was the first half and then they shut them down. A lot of it was game plan from Marshall which wasn’t bad and guys getting first reps as starters and figuring it out. This was a depth testing game and they figured it out and adjusted. Why do we always take the fact that the other teams has a say also out of the equation? Marshall had 32 passing yards and 39 rushing yards the second half. This is just nitpicking a game that doesn’t need nitpicked. The depth was good with room to grow.
@@jasonmellman6300 well if you understand the game it was definitely adjustments. The reason the QB was successful was the QB run which added a number to defend. The 2nd QB ran a ton when he came in and was more athletic and less effective. The LINE we are talking about dominated the O-line that was giving decent protection the first half. They were more gap sound the second half and just overall played better. Again we can give credit to Marshall for the game plan. Quick passes over the middle and a running QB were effective in two drives all game. Outside of that it wasn’t. Coverage adjusted and the over the middle players weren’t open anymore. It’s okay to have an adjustment period. Marshall had been really dogwater all year passing and the gameplan for most teams has been clock management. Unless you feel Marshall had a top 10 QB that was the answer to all their problems it wasn’t going to last. When you add the QB as a runner yes you gain a numbers advantage but your QB is taking all those hits. Marshall kinda sold the poor guy out for a chance.
Can we start a Go Fund me to get the press box updated? Poor Atheletic Department cant even afford to update it and we look like an embarassment on national television...
Our field is straight ass. That was maybe my top concern after the game. I’ve seen Tre slip like 20 times in his career. It caused stone Earle to get hurt and Brandon innis to miss a punt return touchdown too. It’s getting ridiculous. But don’t worry we have a new lounge for the richest fans
