Great video, was thinking about doing this but found a nice FG turbo 6 speed. 25k for a car with 150,000 ks in great condition is a bargain. These cars are great value.
I remember my son buying a cheap AU falcon, taking the bonnet off, turning the exhaust manifold upside down, raiding bunnings for PVC pipe, and bolting a turbo on and turning my back paddock into a ploughed field. I don't think his parts list was quite as extensive :)
I’ve personally never heard of the 5speeds surviving even factory power. Converting to the 6speed isn’t too bad, I’ve got videos on it already and plan to put out a better vid that covers it all sometime soon
Even if I include swapping from my 5speed to 6speed, and then swapping to the turbo 6, my NA+T still doesn’t come close to costing as much as a factory turbo. It’s totally doable, just gotta be willing and able to do a lot of the work yourself.
Yeah that’s great and all but now you have n/a rods and pistons, n/a head, n/a transmission, n/a driveline and axles, n/a diff with long ratios, n/a brakes, n/a fuel tank.
Some good points there NA rods and pistons aren’t an issue NA transmission is 99% the same as turbo, just fewer clutches & smaller torque converter, you can change to turbo torque converter if you need to. NA diff ratio is the same as turbo Turbo brake upgrade is a $150 dollar bracket and larger rotors (probably should have included that on this list) Fuel tank is the same in NA & Turbo The tailshaft, diff & axles are definitely a weak point, but should be fine under the amount of torque you’d be getting out of a budget build like this.
Great point. If it’s manual there’s some differences between T56 and TR6060 boxes in Falcons. For example FG NA bell housing is smaller and won’t take the turbo clutch. Although I’m sure you could change bell housing easily enough. ZF just has a smaller torque converter and you can put a turbo one in instead. Turbo’s didn’t necessary come with LSD, plenty didn’t. But personally I’d agree that it’s well worth doing.
Not a dollar less than $8000 and more then likely going to cost closer to $9000. You will do fluids, brakes, bushings and other must dos along the way. Stop dreaming
I would totally add front brakes to the budget build, they aren't too expensive and will come in clutch for them 'oh shit' moments.
Agreed, they’re only $150 for the bracket and then some bigger rotors.
Should have been on the list
And some would call that a supporting mod.
Thank you for the production quality of the video
Great overview!

You would still be in front, Xr6 with low ks are around 15 grand. Spend 7 and you have a beast. Definitely worth doing.
This guy has the tism
4th option for the NA power steering lines (for B series at least)
Run a stock FG intercooler. 50mm thick will fit, 55mm will not.
Fg mods content quality as of recent ⬆️⬆️⬆️
Do a reliable na+t build under 12k next!
So long as you keep it below the threshold where it breaks stuff even this build will be reliable
"Na+t" makes no sense, it's a no longer naturally aspirated.
This may be a silly question how well is it to turbo a fg 5spd?
I’ve personally never heard of the 5speeds surviving even factory power. Converting to the 6speed isn’t too bad, I’ve got videos on it already and plan to put out a better vid that covers it all sometime soon
@ In my case it would be cost effective to buy a turbo falcon just because my 5spd has been running fine despite all the problems others have.
if you are considering a 6spd, spend the extra to go to 8spd :)
Even if I include swapping from my 5speed to 6speed, and then swapping to the turbo 6, my NA+T still doesn’t come close to costing as much as a factory turbo.

Reckon this set up will push the 250kw mark?
You could probably get that far with them. But having said that I haven’t got any personal experience with them, so don’t have solid data.

Na stands for naturally aspirated.....
There are ba xr6 turbo motors in nz for as little as $1000 with tranz
FG NA motors are actually better than BA turbo motors
@@fgmods wot about bf2 engines?
@@fgmods true but they don't have all the bolt on turbo gear and for a grand you can't go wrong
If they’re coming with all the bolt ons you’re absolutely right, that’s an incredible deal
I replaced my brake pads now they are making weird noises when pressure is put on it and when letting off brake
did you put them in backwards
@ they is no backwards?
probably the little metal clip bits
Why doesn't anyone route the oil return into the valve cover?
It’s pretty straight forward to drill the sump where the factory return is
You’d destroy your turbo doing that as it’s not a high pressure line
But will a BA NA handle it?
My BA has been boosted for 63,000 Kms
It’s doing okay
@ how much boost are you pushing through it? And what supporting mods?
@ 7 psi and a safe tune. No mods yet except maintenance
Clutch and lsd as well
Great point.

damion sweating rn
He should be! Criminal tryna turbo on his P’s
e eseries owners options to buy is AIT and AVO turbo cars or NA+t 😂
1k for valve springs install? Don't smoke crack

Ive never looked at or at least taken notice of an NA intake. Fuck its ugly lol
It’s certainly a specimen
Every time I hear someone say na+t I wonder what kind of education they received.....
It’s a way to delineate between Barra’s with NA bottom ends and turbo bottom ends…
This bloke again. NA+Ts are a complete waste of time and they are all slow and they blow up if tuned
