I saw a video showing an EA poll asking what players want for a next pack, and Star Wars got the lowest vote. So of course EA released a Star Wars pack.

Unpopular opinion: The Sims 4 community do not stand their ground. This is why EA will continue releasing lack luster 'oooo new' content then moving on to the next game, SIms 5, Sims 6, whatever.
Generally, when a horrible pack is announced, people complain all over social media, including game changers and big youtubers. Upon release, most of the community cave in and purchase the pack anyway because of a 'cool looking item', world or to have all packs. If you blatantly dislike a pack even upon release, but support it with your money......... that's money in EA's pockets and thats all that counts. Real change will ONLY happen when simmers stop buying packs regardless. I understand that content creators buy all packs to, well, make content.... I just wish the community stood their ground more in general and stopped giving excuses to why a multi-biollionaire company blatantly ignores it's community. Doesn't matter if it's a new concept.There is literally no point in complaining about packs or EA, then buying every pack they release because 'you love the sims'. You can love the Sims without being manipulated.
EA care about money. Put a big name like Stranger Things (like DBD has done) or Star Wars and it will sell like hot cakes. They will depend '''''''loyal'''''''' simmers and the Star Wars fanbase. I'm so glad to have found your channel a couple of months ago, because now I am SO happy playing Sims 2, where content was made with way more love. The problem is that EA provides free access to all packs for all big Sim-TH-camrs via Game Changers. These TH-camrs will never criticise too harsh on the packs and pretend they're all fun to play. So the community gets influenced by them and is convinced to buy the pack. It was the same with Eco Lifestyle.. it's a boring pack, but all the big youtubers lets played it, pretending it's sooo much fun
I agree with your points theoretically, but I doubt that it'll work as well this time. The new Star Wars trilogy was divisive as hell even amongst hardcore Star Wars fans and the majority of Star Wars gamers aren't gonna take any more of EA's shenanigans after the Battlefront II fiasco of 2017. Their community overall is a lot more outspoken and vocal about the bullsh*t EA's putting out (remember, the loot-box scandal went to court because of this very game). I wonder if EA truly thinks Star Wars is this magical thing it used to be; certainly when it comes to toys, but in gaming? Nah, that ship has sailed a long time ago.

EA thinks: We don’t care. We want to create the lowest quality of product that will sell, because once they’ve bought it, we’ve got the money. It doesn’t need to be good. We just need to entice more people to buy. It doesn’t matter if it breaks and is unplayable, people bought it so we’re on to the next flaming piece of garbage to market
This is just a weird collaboration. Star wars... the action, the battles. In the sims... a life simulator. That's like putting juice with your cereal, it dosen't look good, and it probably doesn't taste good either.

@@thomasshepherd8909 Witches, vampires, aliens, robots, and mermaids are all general mythological creatures, and they're infinitely more easier to implement into a life simulation format - all you have to do is to add in the creature. Star Wars, in comparison, is an active story in a fictional universe that is dynamic and constantly changing.
The implementation also isn't the same. Supernatural creatures and elements in the past acted more like a fun twist to the life simulation format - some fun abilities, additional features, etc. The Star Wars pack is looking to be more of an adventure that attempts to railroad the player into a pre-determined story path and way of playing, which doesn't fit the game well.
In supernatural, you're still playing the life of a person, it just happens to the life of a vampire, werewolf, witch, fairy, etc, and you have complete control over *how* you play it. In Journey to Batuu, you're joining up with the Resistance to take down the Order, or joining the Order to help propagate their rule. It's not the same, in my opinion.
Star Wars is known for it's stories and it's action. Neither of them suit a life simulation game.

I swear i'm actually gonna start crying over this. I'm so frustrated. I've stuck by Sims 4 and defended it FOR YEARS. And this is the thanks we get? I have honestly lost all hope for the sims 4 at this point. I would prefer to play in a sims 3 town made exclusively using sweet treats than this. They've really lost touch with the player base. I'm just so angry and upset.

It should've been a whole separate game like The Sims Stories series, not a game pack. Or not have been made at all. Like I love Star Wars but why? There are other EA games that have to do with Star Wars so why put in the Sims? The whole "The Sims 4 Star Wars:" thing makes me think EA wants to make more of these. Which is a terrible thought. Sims 4 has been here for almost 6 year and it is still a very lackluster game to the rest of the franchise. Love your content by the way Cindy!

As a child, I really enjoyed this pack, so I think that the Katy Perry pack was great for 12 year olds. Star Wars though...

I don't understand how anyone wouldn't see that this is nothing more than a cash grab opportunity to take advantage of EA's license of Star Wars, and an ad for disney's new theme park (they literally said that in the stream lmao). I had already given up on the Sims 4 a long time ago, but this... this is a blatant slap in the face to the sims community. I'll go back to play the Sims 3 until Paralives or the Sims 5 come out. I'm done.

Someone on the forums commented that this pack feels like a giant middle finger to Simmers and all the survey feedback we gave them. I quite agree. What was even the point of all those surveys, if they're just going to ignore them and put the actual things we want on the back burner for crap like this?
Yes, things take a while to implement after the surveys. But really, I feel like that excuse is wearing just a bit thin right now...
The irony is the sims 2 “shill” packs( as in ikea and h&m) are some of my favourite packs?! Its just stupid because these packs used to add items we would actually use and make or gameplay more realistic. I honestly would have preferred a disney land pack , being as this looks like star-wars disney land anyway. 🙄
I also own every single pack for the Sims 4... Even nifty knitting and it kills me that I'm going to be missing one, but I'm not buying this crap. Everyone I've seen comment says please give us better game play, please give us more in depth game play, please give us better babies. I've not seen a single person say please give us star wars. Me and my husband watched Pixelade's video and every single "area" or "character" or "zone" or "story arc" has something to do with the Star Wars Disney theme park attraction. This is like a playable advertisement. EA is the only company that can make Star Wars right now and they hold the contract until 2023. They're taking advantage of that. It probably has nothing to do with the SimGurus and more to do with Disney/EA.

For myself I never saw anything in Sims 4 that would make me want to shell out even one dollar of my hard earned money to buy it. Emotions didn't interest me. I know when my sims are happy or mad or sad. The different walks didn't impress me. The lack of cars, toddlers and whole neighborhoods sure didn't impress me. And the fact that they really seem to have taken on a Barbie doll look (vacuous smile!!!) And nothing I've seen or heard of since has moved me any closer to wanting it. Now Star Wars? Yeah, I'd have to agree with you. Sounds more like what Bustin' Out was, only worse. Guess I'm going to continue playing my Sims 2.
It's quite sad what the franchise has become. I have held out hope far longer than it's reasonable.

I like both Star Wars and Sims but I don't really need them to share the same world. There are some awesome Star Wars games out there to play if I want to visit a galaxy far far away. I just don't see it meshing well with Sims.
I don’t know why everyone wants cars, in the previous games you got in the car drove to work and that was it, why would they make a pack that costs £20 so you can get in a car drive two feat forwards and then teleport to work? I wouldn’t want that.
I totally agree with you. This hurts my Sims-heart too. We want a more realistic-real-life to the game, not a science-story to play around with. Sims should be a life simulator, not victim of EAs desperate try to make money. By the way, Sims 4 characters looks like dolls, not humans. We want Sims 2 gameplay in Sims 3 world with Sims 1 music. Pray for Sims 5 to meet the expectations🙏🇩🇰

Andreas I would be thrilled to give them my money if this game had some depth. If these packs did what they said. If we had some freaking consequences like the older games. I am happy to pay for this and I feel they should be paid for producing something wonderfully payable. But the Sims 4 is like being in a bad relationship that you keep giving in the hopes that it’s going to get better and it never does. I won’t be buying this pack. I am breaking up with them.

I play the sims for making families and having a tons of generations. I knoe the sims can have some weird stuff, but I never said "I hope we'll get a star wars pack". If this was a free update with stars wars items I would be ok, but they want us to pay money for this

For those who wonder 'Why Star Wars?': EA's license to produce Star Wars themed/inspired games is running out so they try to squeeze out every ounce of Star Wars as long as they're allowed to. Hence why there were 4(!) Star Wars related games on Gamescom this year.
All of you are right. It's not about the community. It's about the money. And I honestly feel bad for Star Wars fans because they get excited about a Jungle Adventure/Strangerville crossover abomination with some new costumes. There will be barely any new gameplay. Even the animation of the laser sword fights is a copie of the sword fights from The Sims Medieval. I actually REALLY like playing missions. I loved The Sims 2 Stories, The Sims 2 Pet Stories and The Sims Medieval but this ain't it, chief. I'll gladly let this pack pass and keep waiting for farming.

At least MFPS had cute things for children's rooms, even if it should have been in C&D. This pack seems completely unversatile.
Unpopular opinion : mfps is by far not the worst pack for the sims 4 still doesn't an excuse for what they did tho
this is why i don't play the sims 4 because it is so tacky, lame, and cash-grabbing. In the sims 2 and the sims 3, all the packs, contents, and systems that they implemented into the game actually connect to and enhance your day to day gameplay, they grab the player's interest immediately. but the packs they release for the sims 4 is just so...they have little content, is way too real life-y, and has too much limitations. they advertise it like any other generic product. Don't get me wrong, the sims 4 does add so many new things that you can't do or don't have in the previous sims games, but at the same time, you don't know what to do in game! everything is way too detailed, boring, and tedious. they really should take a few notes from the sims 2 and 3, but it is very possible that they won't 😞

Some people are defending it saying it will bring in new fans. BUT, from what I can gather, it is more attached to the latest trilogy of Star Wars which is extremely divided among fans. Not to mention there are already Star Wars games that are frankly more interesting then a buggy life simulation.
I literally do not care if people enjoy this pack though, that's great that people will enjoy this. But I don't and I am not going to give EA my money anymore. They've had 6 years to improve the skintones and make up and they've had 6 years to work on the babies, add cars, etc. What is their excuse anymore?

That's right Tommy! There were no bad packs for Sims 2. Even their collabs were great (H&M, Ikea).
I'm not a huge fan of Family Fun Stuff just cause the design looks a little cheesy compared to the rest of the game's furniture, but it was also one of the first stuff packs and it still has usable stuff in more than one specific situation unlike some game packs...
That's it.. personally i'cant name a Sims 2 pack what was bad. Still the best Sims game in my eye. :oD

We see and feel your anger as a long time fan. It feels like they are literally crapping in our faces. They know they will get with their bad scams of a “game”. I hate how some people feel like we don’t even deserve to express our feelings of anger, sadness and disappointments. It’s not OK people believe they owe us and even less like all they do is golden. There were some mistakes in the past but since the release of TS4 it all went downhill. The actual state of the game is just bad.

I wouldnt be mad if they just made it into a sims medieval or sims castaway type spin off game where it would make sense for it to take place in star wars and involve not normal stuff because the sims in the past has had spin offs like that and this would be the perfect chance to revive that. But that would actually involve effort and so they just put it into a game pack that majority of players dont want. Why put in effort to make it its own spin off game with its own features or fix a game that is missing so many features when you can just keep pumping out pointless packs for the money.
This is so sad, I started playing The Sims 2 when I was about 6 years old with my older sister, when I think about the good old days, I literally want to cry, I miss getting attached to my sims, I miss this feeling of reality, you know this feeling that you can't explain when you're playing the sims 2 ? this feeling of Immersion expanding in your chest ? the excitement to see your sims grow and evolve ? this feeling of total stress whenever a burglar would come ? this fear you'd feel when a ghost would pop up ? I'd love that moment of anticipation when I'd come back from school during winter and nuzzle up in a blanket while playing the sims 2 and eating some snacks,, I'd feel secure and happy, IDK EVERYTHING BACK THEN WOULD MAKE ME FEEL EMOTIONS IN THE SIMS 2 ! even the soundtracks would literally take me to another world ? well while playing the sims 4 my mind is completely blank i feel nothing but void and numbness and end up getting bored after 10 minutes. oh how much I miss literally being addicted to the sims ! I can't even play the sims 2 anymore because I've lost all the CDs, and I hoped, I really hoped that the sims 4 could make it up at some point, but no. no way. the sims 4 is the most disappointing game I've ever played, it's the most disappointing thing I've ever witnessed in my life, what's so hard for EA to make a good sims game like they used to ? what's so hard for them to make a LIFE SIMULATION game ? if they really wanted to make a storyline based pack, they could've just done something like the sims 2 on PSP ! I truly enjoyed this one, since it included the stories of the townies.. oh my god the townies, the sims 4 is so dead, no real back stories, nothing, nada, it's lacking in every single way whenever I create a sim in the sims 4 i feel no connection to them, they just look pretty with the CC and that's it, I don't want to play them, I don't enjoy playing them, playing with rocks would be more stimulating to me

Heres the thing : the sims 3 world adventures was my favorite gamepack for sims 3. But it fit to a normal gameplay SO WELL. You literally coud travel with your family, on a honeymoon etc.
And if you would want to, you could also explore TONS of dungeons.

I've just permanently ignored the Sims franchise since the disaster cash shop in 3. I play the Sims 2 and that's it. This is disheartening but not surprising. EA ruins franchises. They absolutely decimated my other favorite franchise, Mass Effect. I hear you!

EA has owned the Sims franchise since Sims 1, but there has definitely been a decline in the company and the franchise as well over the past 20 years. I love Sims 2 to death, but just look at all the gamebreaking bugs that they left to modders to fix, or at the decline in quality of some of the later packs (Bon Voyage anyone?). It's only with Sims 4 that they've taken a big enough nosedive for most people to be unable to overlook.
@@hotdogcart I agree, but the depth of gameplay took a nosedive in later parts of the series. TS2 is not perfect at all but the gameplay and depth of the sims and what they want/fear/like is vastly different from sims 4 shells

Sims 2 is still the best sims game out there as it makes me happy. You have so much creativity to do what you want. And even without mods it’s still fun, but mods make the gameplay even better

Indeed it is, even with some funny things. such as Creativity being one skill instead of split as with TS3/TS4. and in TS2, Where a Sim who has NEVER Painted. but constantly plays Instruments....well...they can paint the Mona Lisa itself. and i always cracked up looking at it. a Musician that sneaks off to the easel and makes The Mona Lisa when your not watching XD Lol

I just want to see a better aspiration/lifetime want and wants/whims system. I remember the literal hours I spent playing the sims 2 and 3, because there was always something guiding my gameplay: fulfilling my sims' wants! But the sims 4 gets a little boring after a while. And also, if my sims could have more personality, that would be cool: favorites, astrological signs, hobby enthusiasm, more traits... I am not angry at this pack specifically, but I'm disappointed.
If you want Star Wars in your sims 4 game just have Halloween or go to a geekcon where 96% of the sims in costume will be in Star Wars costumes.
The Sims 4 is just a string of minigames at this point: no depth at all. I wish a business major would explain EA's business plan to me, because it is beyond me why they continuously, and KNOWINGLY steer clear from the community's wishes for things that would improve the longevity of playing Sims 4. I've been playing the Sims 2 for 14 years, the Sims 3 for 11 years. I think I haven't even played the Sims 4 for 100 hours and I hardly enjoyed a second of it.
I think of them maybe pandering more to a younger audience, but that shouldn't be the problem, because I myself was like 7 years old when I got hooked on the Sims 2. I don't understand why they wouldn't take a step back to look at what makes the Sims 2 and the Sims 3 have such a lasting player base, and adjust the Sims 4 accordingly. Surely that would be much more profitable?
EA's business plan is simple: they want quick money without having to work hard for it or spend too much on it. They are a capitalistic shithole after all.
I just don’t understand why they did this. Like why didn’t they just make a stand-alone sims 4 Star Wars game like sims medieval? Use the engine assets etc but have the setup in Batu. I don’t need this in my regular gameplay. It’s very disappointing.
This is exactly why EA has been making sure to have the most popular simmers in their pocket for years, and also why I only watch honest, Sims 2/3 simmers like you. The large channels are basically the only reason a lot of people (mostly young ones) are still buying their crappy excuse of a Sims game - because they fake the hype so much that their young, impressionable audiences are deceived into believing the game is great and EA listens to their players.
With that last point, I do believe these "simfluencers" create or are told to create fake problems that EA was ready to solve anyway, in order to make it seem like they listen to feedback; such as when The sim supply complained about a plant and they immediately added the fixed plant to the game, or when they suddenly all make videos asking for more skintones or swatches or whatever small thing, and EA magically updates the game to add them.
Personally I don't believe EA should make any new Sims games after the disaster that's been The Sims 4 and I'm fine with that. Also, in my experience I still have a lot of fun playing Sims 1, 2 and 3 unmodded or very lightly modded - as well as The Urbz for DS and The Sims Medieval fully unmodded. They were genuinely fun games at the core of it, and that's exactly what Sims 4 never had and why no amount of modding can fix it.
I'm just done with sims 4. To me, when I played the game, I notice how boring and dry it is since I started playing sims 3 and sims 2. There's some much in sims 4 that is missing that you need a lot of mods to have fun to play this game. But with sims 3 and 2 you don't need that many or none at all. They need to work on the game and add gameplay value to it instead giving us something that majority of us don't want, but I do hope that the people who wants this does have fun though. I'm not a starwars fan, I barely know anything about starwars, but with ea adding this to the sim world is really freaking weird. I don't know how to feel or think about this.🤷

I hate this new way to make DLC in sims 4, like game packs are small game packs, sutff pack are medium sized game packs and expansion packs are large game packs... I loved when expansion packs ADDED to the whole game, changed the game forever and stuff packs just adds more clothing and objects, so much simplier and better...

I' also stopped buying packs what has to do with Sims 4. Disappointing, awful, moneygrab packs. And to be honest i don't care at all when someone who loves Sims 4 to pieces want to come for me. As soon I found the Sims 2, I deleted Sims 4 from my computer and from my life. TS2 was just better made. I'm just sad that I spent so much time and money trying to make TS4 feel complete.
This latest cash grab doesn't surprise me in the least. EA thinks they can just push out anything and simmers will buy it, and usually, they're right. Maybe when one of their packs doesn't sell well, they'll realize they need to listen to the community.

Yeah, I tried playing Sims 4, but always after a few days I get genuinely tired of it. None of the packs add depth and story, just.. additional content nobody asked for.
I tried playing Sims 3, but it's laggy, it's badly developed and it's frustrating to run. The only fun I had with it is with unlimited household members mod where I had my legacy of vampires and werewolves living underground, over 20 Sims. I try new LP's but they just..don't compare.
The Sims 2 has its issues but God damn are they almost nonexistent when compared to the newer installments. I had it on my PC for YEARS now and it's still punching in strong.
I wonder what other Simmers are gonna say about it.

I was just ranting at my boyfriend about this. I've been playing the Sims for 20 years and I am so upset by this. Its a clear cash grab they don't give a single fuck about the community and their needs. None of this content will be usable in any other aspect of the game. I knew it was like this for a while but this is awful. I have no clue how they are going to spin this into something good. This isn't even the Sims. Its going to ruin the game with all the Starwars outfits on townies and to be honest as much as I love this game I think I'm don't supporting EA for now. I'm going to keep playing the other Sims games but I'm not throwing 1000s on all the expansions just to make it semi-playable. They are just going to spin it saying "give it a chance" and to be completely honest, I'm glad you said this because it confirmed for me I'm done giving the Sims 4 and EA the chance they keep begging for, especially for this garbo.
I can only imagine Cindy ' s face the first time Nancy Landgraab and Mortimer Goth bust out the lightsabers in a battle to the death at some kid's birthday party lol. I agree with you one hundred percent, and I haven't bought anything since University or ROM, whichever came later. Never mind the revamp they did to how bills are calculated and all that stuff. I don't even own Eco Living or whatever it is and I still have to worry about water usage and seeing those annoying ass little green microphones over sims' heads for neighborhood action plans. I am one hundred percent done with S4.
I'm a Sims 2 kind of guy too. I don't care for The Sims 4 at all. But when the trailer played I covered my face. And somehow felt legitimate embarrasement.

As a huge Star Wars fan, I don’t see how it fits with the Sims. There are already some great Star Wars games out there. I did also find it interesting that you said this doesn’t feel like a life simulation because it’s not real life. You seem to like or at least not mind things like vampires, witches, and plantsims. I hope this didn’t come across negatively. Just curious on what differentiates the realism between those things.
I don't typically play with occults in my personal game (except aliens). When I do play with them, it's usually for a one-off video. But I have to suspend SOME belief in the Sims games because it can't be 100% realistic. I'm okay with an alien doing human things, if that makes sense.
I like realistic gameplay AND supernatural sims. In theory, at least. To me, The Sims is supposed to be cartoony and not too realistic. It's supposed to be mouldable. (If you ask me, I actually miss The Sims Makin' Magic! 😂) And I'm going to say something that goes a little bit against the grain -- but do take into account I haven't bought a single Sims game since The Sims 3 Ambitions -- and it's that, aside from the obvious cash grab this pack is, a pack with a theme we don't like is not the problem. It's how small and contained they all are. By which I mean you KNOW this pack isn't going to include anything that could possibly be used in everyday gameplay, regardless of style. The feeling I get with The Sims 4 is if you don't play the neighbourhood that came with the pack you miss out on a lot of the features, which can't be said for TS2 at least. I love the idea of Nifty Knitting, it was just so... "That's it?"

I hate that this gamepack has technically made it so that Star Wars is now canon within sims lore. Like, if my sims can travel to Batuu that means they literally exist in the Star Wars Universe. It takes away from the fun I get out of the Sims franchise. I love Star Wars but, I don't want Star Wars in my game. I understand why some people are really excited and that's great, no hate there! It's just that for the majority of sims players we don't feel heard because we've been asking for improved babies, skin tones, relationships etc...and a lot of people just feel like we aren't being listened to.

One of the best things about the star wars universe is how complex it is, and you could never get the same feeling from a Sims 4 game pack. Even if they added some amazing features, a lot of important stuff would still be missing.
I also hate the fact that this is probably going to be Strangerville 2.0, and even if I liked the vibe of Strangerville, I have to admit that gameplay-wise it sucks. The entire "gameplay" consist of clicking on stuff and waiting for your sim to complete the action, and there's no replayability whatsoever

Okay so two things:
I recall this one Sims 4 show EA made where they had popular TH-camrs come together and then kept complaining and tearing them down for the storytelling and stuff they did in such a limited time when their trailers hardly convey a story.
Secondly, Sims 3 had World Adventures and while it was different from most Sims stuff I always enjoyed it. Why? I could make my own tombs with cheats, after years I still hadn't fully finished all the worlds, always discovering new secrets, always the risk of dying or getting hurt.
All major gaming companies are these major corporations who could care any less about their employees and fans. Just the fastest way to make a quick bug, which doesn't work well with games. You can see it when art doesn't have passion in it, when a product doesn't have passion in it. Will I buy a couch when I see it can easily fall apart? No! So why do the same with Sims 4.
Many of the people defending this expansion also seem to be newer players, not all but many, often young, players. And I don't blame them, they will likely see someday but I get how it can be difficult.
If Disney wanted to advertise on The Sims, why not make a complete Disneyland as a destination world? Perhaps let us make our own theme park or at least run a small stall in Disneyland. But nah. Just Batuu, with no context whatsoever to connect with Sims' world.

I'm not a fan of Star Wars, but I've seen fans talk about how if they want to have an experience on that universe that they'll just pick up a Star Wars game. I liked Lunar Lakes and I do like these sci-fi themes, but their colaborations get on my nerves. On the other side, at least this is something a large public can identify with, unlike Moschino. Nevertheless, it feels like we're not being listened. Thanks for not kissing ass :))
Every single feature in that pack relies on mechanics already released in base game and other packs. We have duels in RoM. We have sword fight animations in get famous. We have odd job missions in get a mermaid (I forget the real name). We have event cards in Jungle adventure. We have piecing stuff together in stranger town. We have card playing in outdoor retreats. Heck, we even have star wars costumes in base game!
If this was something the community wanted, a modder would have done it already. But they absolutely would have added a born with the force trait.
How can you have a star wars pack without the force?
How can you have a pack called "journey to another planet" and NOT have sims go there in space ships?

As an avid Star Wars original trilogy fan, i just don't understand why EA keeps making these missions packs, especially involving character that have no place in the Sims. I want more advanced characters that make me feel for them. I don't want dumb stupid bratty Kylo Ren, I want Don Lathorio with a more advanced backstory and personality and not a piece of toothpaste.
I completely agree with you, I haven't bought a pack for the Sims 4 in a couple years now and have been primarily playing Sims 1 and 2. The Sims 4 has been drawn out for way too long now and I would love to see them move onto the Sims 5 or remasters of old games for newer hardware.
I would love to see The Sims have the same spark that it once had back in the 00s with the Sims 1 and 2. And if the Sims does want to go for a more fantasy/adventure approach in future expansion packs, I would love to see something more fleshed out and engaging to a variety of types of sims, such as the Sims Makin Magic or the Sims 3 World Adventures, or even the Sims 3 Into the Future.
