  • @lkz6696
    @lkz6696 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you i just removed my turbo, watched your video about 5 times! No possible way i could have done it without this video. You said coolant feed is on the bottom and that's connected to the block. So that means the turbo after-run pump sucks coolant out of the turbo? I always thought it pumps coolant into the turbo.

    • @BWSTT
      @BWSTT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats correct- it draws it away, but the result is still the same, coolant is circulating

  • @myattribe

    Thanks Bryn.... Lost count of the times I've watched this before having a go on my Mk1 roadster. Had recon turbo on before we bought it and it went again blowing out massive plume behind! Got a second hand one but what things should I check on it before putting it on and could there be something else in the engine that caused the recon to blow??!!

    • @BWSTT

    • @gplusgplus2286

      Oil priming is good but more important is to check that the coolant / oil lines aren't plugged, service manual says replace all of them with new ones.

    Hey up Bryn.... Sad to see the unit go but got to be able to put food on the table.... Quick question about this vid - which has been brill for me. As I'm installing with new washers, gaskets do I need to have a smear of gasket sealant as well between turbo and exhaust. Great job Bryan couldn't have attempted to do my S3 Bam with out this vid. Just to confirm is it 5 washers for coolant banjo bolts and 2 for the oil feed banjo bolt?
    I have oil leaking from turbo down onto front diff(bevel box ) so I'm going to renew all crush washers and seals/gasket on oil return and mani. No issues with boost or performance so just thinks it leaking from oil feed pipe on turbo. Please advise.

    • @BWSTT
      @BWSTT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The likely leak would be the oil return line, so start with that one and see how it goes

    • @navd2757
      @navd2757 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply.
      The oil was all over the left side of actuator as you look up from under the car and tip air inlet pipe side so that’s what’s making me think it oil feed pipe.
      If leaking from the return under the turbo would oil get up there?

    And this is why I'm getting the local garage to change my gasket - those three bolts scare the life out of me! I assume if a garage had sheared bolts they would have a simpler time removing them and I shouldn't worry?
