    Yet more top quality content, you really do put better known youtubers to shame. Can you fit a 3 inch downpipe, pipewerx for example and still keep the original cat, if so is it still a worthwhile mod? ATB mate, love the content.

      I also meant to ask, do you have any concerns about your con rods? Any plans on changing them? From what I've read and spoke to various people 300bhp and similar torque numbers are the limit on standard rods really and have been known to fail lower than that. Its playing on my mind slightly and I doubt my TT will surpass 280bhp with what I intend to do to it.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks buddy appreciate the kind words. So from my experience you can run 280ish bhp with 300ft lbs of torque. I have personally run and known others that have run similar for years without issue. If you do go for rifle drilled forged rods you can push it a little harder knowing that your covered. If your going to be doing that would also be worth getting super tech valves or similar and can really maximise the potential. The other common failure is clutches. Your putting all this extra power onto a stock clutch and dual mass that could have done 60-100k haha. It becomes an expensive getting more power haha. Personally a “stage 1” software map and the cooler, intake tip and downpipe make the biggest difference.

    Fitted a PipeWerx DP and sport cat to my 225 TT last month ... after fitting an eBay special 2 weeks earlier. The eBay special did actually fit but it made the car sound like a tractor (cheap flexi I think). The PipeWerx DP is excellent. Perfect fit, well made and sounds great. Could not be happier and highly recommend them.

    I want to add one thing about intercoolers. I see a lot of people getting an FMIC and kicking out the SMICs.
    That might be a workable option in the UK (which probably means for most people watching thing) but I live in the near-East where we do get what you call "a proper summer". For 9 months of the year.
    I went with an FMIC after doing the 3" downpipe and initially I was happy with it. I went with it mostly because it was actually cheaper than any DSMIC option I could find (in 2019/2020). However, the first "proper drive" I took saw the coolant temperature doing things it really shouldn't be doing after some time. I jiggled a little with trying to duct flow more effectively but nothing I did could solve the problem.. the FMIC sitting in front of the radiator just meant that in hot climates all you can do with an FMIC is a few 1/4 mile runs and you need to just let everything cool down. I could change the radiator and that might help, but ultimately there isn't that much space to play with.
    I went for some upgraded DSMICs (~60% larger core, bar&plate, full-metal) and I never again had a problem.
    So I guess if you just want the occasional burst of power, an FMIC will do, for anything more serious: DSMIC is a must-have IMO. I don't see any reason to mess around with larger radiators, especially if you cram a bigger turbo in the back and then have to basically cut up the entire front of the car, which adds a TON of drag to the car which makes it somewhat jittery at high speeds (the TT has a nervous back-end at speed without some extensive mods...)

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely agree with you, for the uk they are perfectly fine, but I can imagine like you say in hotter climates it can be more of an issue.
      In England we would be lucky if we have 3 consecutive days of nice weather 😂

    awesome vids as USUAL!!! love all of this; you really keep the spirit alive with the TT world..best guy doing reg. TT vids for sure..I do have a particular question on something not exhaust-related..have you ever lost the side blinker wire to the inside of the fender?? I ask because I was trying to replace the blinker bulb with a fancy led job, and the wire fell down inside (amazon sold and adverted the wrong part lol). Is there an easy way to fish that blinker wire back up, without removing panels? again, just amazing coverage on the TT side Dom.

Everyone I know who runs fast cars that still use n75 boost control use stock genuine n75’s. Usually use the latest revision on sensor, genuine ones usually last between 75-100k miles.

    Hiya mate,looking for your opinion. I really want to go to a stage 2 with my 2004 MK1 Audi TT 225 coupe. I can afford the air filter(Ramair with built in velocity stack) and I'm thinking of a Forge upgraded intercooler. It's when it comes to exhaust systems I get stuck. Ideally I would go for the full Milltek 3" large bore downpipe and sport cat ( I want it to pass MOT's without having to change out a decat one for it to pass ). This has to be used in conjunction with their 3" race exhaust system. The problem is I'm working to a tight budget and with everything else I want to do to the car I just can't stretch to roundabout £1800 for the whole system. I'm a bit disappointed and don't want to settle for a stage one as I will already have 2 out of the 3 prerequisites for a stage 2. It feels to me you'd be wasting your money: £220 for a stage 1 and £270 for a stage 2. I have just watched your video on 3" downpipes and I really want one. Pipewerx does the downpipe and sport cat but can you recommend a decent but not Milltek money equivalent for the rest of the exhaust from the cat back ? Like you say, I don't want to buy some cheap c**p off eBay. I've looked at the Scorpion resonated system ( I'm not 21 anymore and just couldn't handle the constant cabin noise),and even though it says it's for a 225 BAM when you enter your saved car it says it doesn't fit !? This is on eBay mind. So if you could give me some options with your experience and knowledge I'd be most grateful. I'm looking to spend about a grand all in,maybe could stretch it to £1200. Like I said in an ideal world Milltek would be my first choice but for downpipe,sport cat and 3" resonated race exhaust it's not much change out of £1800. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also what is your opinion on Forge diverters and blow off valves, personally I like the whoosh of a blowoff valve and now Forge do both,a diverter valve and a splitter with blowoff. I know from comments on various TT forums 99% of people used to say avoid blowoff valves as the bam engine wasn't designed for that and came with a plasticy crap OEM one and it can lead to all sorts of problems but some of this information is nigh on 15 years old and there must've been some advancements since then. So I will be upgrading one way or another. I personally would like the splitter with built in blowoff and I'd like to think a company like Forge wouldn't sell it if it didn't work but I would like your opinion on this matter please if it's not too much bother. Any other suggestions would be great, different intercoolers(cheaper alternatives).I will be joining your channel but had to make a double mortgage payment today and do a huge grocery shop so I'm skint until Tuesday. Do you get a Parrott Bros badge when you join or can you buy one ? BTW love your videos,so insightful, I think I have about 20 on my playlist,and your one lucky man having so many lovely cars
    Many thanks,
    Iain Lock

      Hey Iain, wow so where to start
      Exhaust wise, get a pipewerx downpipe and sports cat, fit it to a stock cat back system for the time being and keep a saved search on eBay for a miltek or scorpion resonated cat back system. Usually come up for 250-350£ second hand
      Do not fit a blow off valve as these engines use a maf to measure air into the system. A blow off valve will mess it up and make it run badly. An open cone filter like the pro ram along with a forge 007p or similar recirc will give you that whoosh on gear changes that you want.
      Intercooler wise you can do the home made version I did for about £250-300. Or again keep an eye out for a used one, if not forge or airtec will do the job for sure
      If your on Facebook jump in the tt pages and speak to some of the breakers or put up a wanted post, most of them have used stage 2 parts on the shelf ready to go
      Thanks dom

      Steven Sheppard aftermarket. Usually if you are modifying and looking to increase power the stock pumps are tired and can fail. If your not looking for much more power a stock one should be fine and can always be replaced.
      The options people usually go for are Bosch 044 pump or the Dw65.
      If you google them and 1.8t there is plenty of info on them 😊.

Turn can use the downpipe I’ve shown in video and will make better power on mapping. You can swap engine but may need to change out engine, loom, ecu etc as 225’s run more sensors than a 180.
