I live in Salt Lake and have been flying for 30 years as a passenger (often weekly) and know this approach by heart. Loved seeing it from the right seat and how ILS and ATC worked together. The approach requires a turn off 180 degrees for final due to the surrounding mountains. Love the channel and the professionalism at your craft. Thanks for your service.
Even after formal retirement from the USAF . . . many flying retirees relish a return - to those 'good ol' days' of flying. YOU, are quite fortunate in continuing your love . . . from the cockpit, and sharing it with us . . . who turn on the tube, for some aviation content. I'm able to grab you from my MetroCVS cell phone, digital. FLY HIGH ! 🇺🇸

Greg does all the filming and camera set up, I think it's his nephew or neighbor that does most of the editing on his videos. Bush pilot does his own. Both are excellent! It's like your there with them in the cockpit!!
This and a few other similar channels are the only true reality shows. I never tire of this channel because as one who isn’t a pilot it’s incredibly educational. As well as entertaining.
When I was a student my instructor coordinated with SLC to do touch-n-go's from about 11 PM to 1 AM. The controllers were more than happy to have someone to talk to at midnight, even a student pilot. It was good to get some bravo experience when there wasn't a lot of other traffic and stress to deal with.
The shoutout was fun to hear but like others have said, back to business. It was also nice to see someone so seasoned still make an occasional error (e.g. rwy 16 vs 17) and not beat themselves up about it. I would jump at a chance to do a ride along someday!
I'm sitting here in my office here in the south of England relaxed & retired & enjoying being in the right seat marvelling at all I see & hear. Envious humbled & respectful. Thanks

2:52 Ah, sitting on the ground at KAPA at well over a mile high brings back memories in a different lifetime when I flew occasionally out of Centennial. At the time I was working at the ADF on what was then known as the Buckley Air National Guard Base. Now it's Space Force.

Really loved this video! I used to be a Flight Instructor at SLC back in 1968-71, at Key Aviation. I'm sure it's not there any more. Didn't recognize the ramp. Started out working the line back in 1966. Really do enjoy your videos!

Since a kid my dad had always brought us to air shows and I fell in love with it when I climbed inside the cockpit of an A-10 @ 11yrs old. I joined the Marines after high school back in 99, cause the Air Force said I couldn’t be a pilot for them. Thanks to that!! 22 years later I’m starting my journey towards my PPC. That big mining operation that you pointed out during the flight is the Kennecott open pit copper mine. That Island you saw to the west on your final approach to runway 17L is Antelope Island (in the Great Salt Lake). Please keep making the videos, they are wonderful.
Great shots of Eldora 13:44, and Winter Park/Mary Jane 14:16 ski areas, both regular haunts for me in the winter. 22:47 Rio Tinto/Kennecott copper mine. It's even bigger when you're down in it.

Thanks for the video. Love them. You are way to nice to your nervous wife. I would have told her the wing was coming loose. We were flying up for dinner in 172 and my wife went to sleep as usual in the right seat. I pulled the mixture out and engine died with the prop windmilling. I then nudged my wife and told her we had engine failure and to look for a good place to land. As we spiraled down she was trying help out. Finally I pushed the mixture in and the engine came to life and away we went. Jan looked at me with evil intent knowing what I'd done and punched me in the shoulder so hard I had a bruise for a week. She had a good time telling the story over the years.

I don't blame you for slowing down video production/release after that whole FAA debacle, just glad to see you still post some content from time to time. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, your explaining what you are doing in the cockpit, how aircraft systems work etc, have really helped a few of my friends that were real nervous flyers get over that phobia. Knowing what is happening up front really helps them deal with the nerves. Stay safe Greg!

I found your channel a week ago and I’ve BingeWatch sense. You do an excellent job and I really enjoy the way your videos show. Appreciate the way you explain all the steps and the process. I’m impressed with the air traffic control and the way things are done up in the air. I’ve only flown once in my life and it was a 1986. Looking out the window, I saw a jet dart by in the opposite direction looking like it was 500 feet away! Scared the daylights out of me. Glad to learn, through your video, a 1000 foot separation is the standard and now I look forward to flying again sometime in the future. Your approach to Salt Lake City was amazing as was your fly over of the Grand Canyon. Also, thanks for your service and I’m sure flying the F-16 must’ve been amazing! You are in my neighborhood. Also the giant mine you saw is Kennecott Copper mine. It was the largest cooper mine in the world but I think that has changed over the recent years.
Great video! I live just west of South Valley Regional ( U42) and could pick out my home as you flew north to KSLC along the west side of the valley. The tanker you noticed is part of the 151st Air Refueling Wing , Utah Air National Guard. Maybe during your Guard Career you found your F- 16 on the end our boom. I came here to get a face full of mountains, and I was not disappointed. Greg, the clarity of this video is outstanding - your cameras must be bleeding edge. Yes, we can see the other aircraft and its shadow. I think I saw the passengers waving.

Hey Greg, fantastic flight to Salt Lake. I would’ve loved to been on that one. Hopefully you and the wife had a fantastic time. Did you notice how low the Salt Lake is getting? They are in a pretty good drought right now. Safe flying my friend.
I don't blame you for slowing down video production/release after that whole FAA debacle, just glad to see you still post some content from time to time. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, your explaining what you are doing in the cockpit, how aircraft systems work etc, have really helped a few of my friends that were real nervous flyers get over that phobia. Knowing what is happening up front really helps them deal with the nerves. Stay safe Greg!

I found your channel a week ago and I’ve BingeWatch sense. You do an excellent job and I really enjoy the way your videos show. Appreciate the way you explain all the steps and the process. I’m impressed with the air traffic control and the way things are done up in the air. I’ve only flown once in my life and it was a 1986. Looking out the window, I saw a jet dart by in the opposite direction looking like it was 500 feet away! Scared the daylights out of me. Glad to learn, through your video, a 1000 foot separation is the standard and now I look forward to flying again sometime in the future. Your approach to Salt Lake City was amazing as was your fly over of the Grand Canyon. Also, thanks for your service and I’m sure flying the F-16 must’ve been amazing! Looking forward to the next video. Fly safe!

Thanks for the ride, the last time I landed at Salt Lake was for fuel ferrying a Cessna 150 from Boise to Dallas for fuel and coffee.
Hey, enjoyed the ride, the ski resort you mentioned as you crossed zimmr was Winter Park. My daughter lives there and fun to see from the air. KSLC is a great airport, 31 years as an AMT for Delta and spent a lot of time there. Please keep filming, always enjoy!

I live right underneath the south approach for SLC airport. I love seeing all the planes coming in and departing.
You are in my neighborhood. Also the giant mine you saw is Kennecott Copper mine. It was the largest cooper mine in the world but I think that has changed over the recent years.

I live just west of South Valley Regional ( U42) and could pick out my home as you flew north to KSLC along the west side of the valley.
The tanker you noticed is part of the 151st Air Refueling Wing , Utah Air National Guard.
Maybe during your Guard Career you found your F- 16 on the end our boom. I’m a.retired Crew Chief from UTANG on E model 135s.

I came here to get a face full of mountains, and I was not disappointed. Greg, the clarity of this video is outstanding - your cameras must be bleeding edge. Yes, we can see the other aircraft and its shadow. I think I saw the passengers waving.

I enjoy your your videos, all very informative.....I flew out of Centennial for several years as a Corporate Pilot for an Insurance Company back in the 70's when it was the Arapahoe County Airport. I'm retired now and doubt if I could keep up with the Traffic Chatter, everybody talks to fast for my old ears !!!

Always interesting ride along in the right seat. Still amazed at how far avionics have come from the "old" days (1970's) when I was flying.
That was one of a hectic departure. Thank you for using your mental power on departure to “Aviate, Navigate, Communicate.” The arrival was definitely with fewer traffic. Thank you for clarifying w/ATC “on right base for Rwy17 App.”Great flight! I enjoy it!

Minute 21 that is “Y Mountain” BYU off your right wingtip, studied and learned to fly there in 1981. Beautiful so glad you posted this flight! To the left Provo Canyon goes up to Sundance. Timpanogos further left is about 12,000 feet.
