Emu hatching from an egg - Beautiful HD footage from start to finish

  • Sorry day 3 is a little late at night, but it's worth it. I am so excited to bring you this amazing video of an emu hatching. This chick is a lot smaller and lighter than the first chick that hatched. I can't even tell you how happy I am to have both my eggs hatch out beautiful healthy emu chicks. This is such an amazing video to me, to watch this little chick see the world for the first time. The entire process took 15 hours. This video was edited down to four and a half minutes to show each stage of the hatch. To think that I ordered this egg on ebay and it came to me as nothing and turned into this beautiful chick is simply mind blowing.
    Check back tomorrow to see both chicks meet each other for the first time.
    About the emu...
    The emu is the second largest bird on the planet, standing nearly 6 tall, and weighing up to 120 pounds. Emus cannot fly but they are fast runners - up to 30 mph. Surprisingly, they are also strong swimmers. Some scientists consider emus to be living dinosaurs because their bones and joints are similar to dinosaurs'. Their ability to store fat allows them to go without food for long periods of time. Emus can defend themselves with tremendously powerful forward kicks. They eat great quantities of caterpillars, grasshoppers, and masses of the burrs that tangle sheep wool, which makes them helpful to farmers.

    It was about 90 degrees in that room. The muscle twitching is from him stretching out and using them in new ways he never had before. It's so cool! You can handle them, but I wanted to let him hatch himself out as much as he possibly could.

      @DrewPicklesTheDark 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm agnostic and don't really give a fuck about evolution either since I won't be around long enough to observe, but I still feel I must ask, what does this have anything to do with that? Eggs are not exclusive to dinosaurs and birds, so I don't see how that would be convincing.

    • @arrowsaurus7561
      @arrowsaurus7561 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      DrewPicklesTheDark not just eggs. As an embryo, many birds have dinosaur hands, that fuse together later on in development. They have a wishbone, exclusive only to birds and dinosaurs. They have feathers, which many dinosaurs are confirmed to have.
      AND HAVE U SEEN THEM FEETSIES!!

    • @ExtremeMadnessX
      @ExtremeMadnessX 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@DrewPicklesTheDark What does it matter that you are an agnostic? Evolution is a scientific fact and not a matter of faith. The connection between birds and dinosaurs has been known for more than a century, with newer fossils and in the last few decades it has definitely been confirmed that birds are dinosaurs (including the fact that only bird and dinosaur eggs have a hard shell).

    • @DrewPicklesTheDark
      @DrewPicklesTheDark 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    these birds could probably become naturalized in southern california. in fact the peacock has been living wild in Los Angeles basin since the turn of the century. maybe not in the high desert though. I don't know if you know this but there was a new species of north american wild cat recently discovered right near where you live. I discovered some colonies of them same time they did but they think it's based in your area which actually it isn't. they named it the mojave spotted cat. very rare
