- Join me in the hatching of these stunning emerald emu eggs.
At a petting zoo's female Emu had 3 eggs but their male Emu didn't start incubating on the nest (yes, with Emu's, the male does the incubating and the raising of the chicks). So they reached out to me and asked if I wanted to give these eggs a chance. By now they were quite old so I wasn't sure if they would hatch.

I already spent my tears earlier while watching the most beautiful Hawaiian singer of all time singing his version of "Over The Rainbow." So this may have been the first time I've watched an acca video without tears. This time I just have a giant smile. ❤

I have an emu who we found alone and abandoned in the Arizona desert over twenty years ago. She has a good home and will live out her days in peace. She stopped producing eggs many years ago. They were the most beautiful green eggs. So lovely to see what our Ribbon would've looked like right out of the egg! Beautiful work you are doing in your sanctuary.
Thank you for taking care of our Emu, they are very special to us Indigenous ppl of Australia! I had a pet one when I was a child living out bush!
They need a male to produce eggs but can keep producing up to 30 years

This just showed up randomly. The title got my curiosity because I had no idea what it ment. The beautiful green of those eggs is amazing. The look of pure joy on his face when the last one started to hatch, just wonderful.
This just appeared in my recommendations out of the blue. I was 100% sure this was some fake dramatization for hatching dinosaur/dragon eggs, like in game of thrones - until the first chick hatched! 😱 I had no idea emu eggs were this color, nor that the chicks would react to stimuli WHILE STILL INSIDE THE EGG! Truly amazing! And what a beautifully produced video. 10/10 ❤

I’ve rescued animals my whole life. Starting with baby birds that had fallen out of nests. Then it turned into bringing home injured birds. Then cats and puppies. It can be heart breaking. But it’s far more rewarding. ❤ Seeing the smiles on his face when they interact is priceless.

I am alot older than you, but you remind me of my dad when I was young and he would be up all night taking care of hatchlings or eggs in homemade incubators without scientific knowledge but only instinct and try to save baby birds.
....and then have to reluctantly go to his job during the day but come home for lunch to check them and give his kids simple chores regarding their care. What a wonderful way to grow up. He was still saving rescued wild animals in his late years. Thanks for the memories

This is the best thing on the internet!! I immediately subscribed. We hatched a baby chicken on our stovetop when the mother abandoned her old eggs. We were about to discard the eggs when I heard one cheeping! We immediately made a makeshift incubator on the stove on low heat with wet towels all around and she hatched a day later! It was the most incredible feeling!

I'm the father of a 4 month old girl. The last few months have been so difficult because I was essentially a single dad. I've been sad and unhappy for a while and this video just made me cry tears of joy. Thank you. I'll hug my daughter extra tight tonight.

You can tell a live egg from a dead one because a dead one is cold. I used to raise geese and this is how we told at the end. You can feel life inside, you see.
@@BlackSeranna I don't think he thought it was dead yet, that's why he kept trying - but he was surely getting worried with lack of activity and taking longer to hatch. There was still the possibility it simply wouldn't have survived, but I'm happy she made it :)
My first time here, these birds are beautiful. I just lost my precious Ozzy (Cockatiel) after he was in our family for over 12 years or longer.. we stopped counting after so long, he passed this month and took a piece of my Spirit with him. Seeing these newly born babies gave me joyful tears. Thanks for sharing your love for birds as well.

I know what the title said but the suspense was a little stressful. I loved hearing the bird 3 chirping while hatching. It was such a precious sound.
All that drama and worry was made up, the egg was fine from the start, still it was effective play acting.
@@glennbabic5954 No it wasn’t. From his tests it looked dead. Didn’t you watch them. It wasn’t moving. I thought it was an unfertilized egg and probably would have discarded it. You shouldn’t be so quicker to think a person is lying. Not everyone does.

Oh wow, Alwyn, Emus ❤ I’m not sure many people will understand how difficult it is to incubate Emu eggs. Getting the humidity correct for each egg, turning them by hand, reducing humidity if needed and raising it in other cases, just Wow. It’s incredible that you were able to hatch all 3!

I've never had trouble with EMUs. They reproduce like rabbits. Ask Australia! It's the RHEAs that are fragile to incubate. EMUs can incubate in a puddle of pig feces and still hatch.

I’ve been sick with the stomach flu, and my mood has been ver gloomy after being cooped up for so long. This video was a little ray of sunshine into a darkened room, as I’m sure that sweet little bird finally coming out of its shell was for you. Omg I cried happily tears...she said I'm not going to give up...what a beautiful life is to watch life be born an take their first breath no matter if they are human or animal it's amazing gift from God to cherish all living beings...well done to you sir for being their safe haven an their care taker...I love birds in my town I'm know as the animal soother an the bird whisper...I feed the birds an in return they sing me their joyful tune of life. During the cold long winter I fed the parents of the small crow eggs an in the spring weather we're now having the mama bird an her young strong baby birds came to eat food they love biscuits the bread helped them survive the cold winter an in return for my love an deep care the mama brought her healthy young birds to my backyard to eat...I told her that her young birds looked healthy an strong...she nodded her head as if to say yes they do...I told her I was happy she wanted to show me an then she bowed her head at me as if to say thank you...then she cared 3 times an flew off...she got down from her tree and walked an ate the bread with her young...God always shows me the most amazing things in this world of creativity an beautiful creation that surrounds us...God bless you an thanks for such a genuine loving filled video...I'm sending you light, loving, positive, protective, prosperity, healing energy ⛮ 💚🕊🌹💜

I LOVED this! a few decades ago, I used to raise Ostriches and perhaps the most beautiful part was watching the chicks hatch and their survival rate, sadly back then was not great. So to see these beautiful Emu chicks being so lovingly cared for through their entrance into the outside world is just remarkable. PLEASE keep up this beautiful and much needed work in the world today!

I was wondering what bird they were going to grow into? I knew from the size of the egg that it was a big bird but I had never seen an Emu egg. I thought they would favor Ostrich eggs. Boy was I wrong. Emu eggs look like stones to me. But those Emu babies are incredibly cute. Most baby birds are pretty ugly, all legs and no feathers...I had Zebra Finches that had babies and they weren't the cutest things as far as baby animals go. And watching these baby Emu trying to control those long necks and legs and big feet, was like watching a toddler take it's first steps unaided...wobbly and crooked. Tooooo cute.

It reminds me of when I gave birth to our oldest son. My husband had been drawing smiley faces and water melons on my belly throughout pregnancy. He chatted and sang to the baby (and me).. then when I went into labor the birth went *really* fast. The doctor ended up coming in right *after* the delivery. Dave started talking to the doctor and our newborn son opened his eyes and turned his head right towards my husband.. it was absolutely amazing..

The miracle of life. It never gets old. We used to use an infant stethoscope with soft rubber v cones to listen to large unhatched eggs. Well done and great timing.
As someone who has only really reared species with easily-candled eggs of a size that will mostly fit in incubators with automatic turning functions, I applaud your weeks of painstaking weight monitoring and manual turning, especially when there's no 100% way to know if the eggs/chicks are viable until they're almost at their hatching date!

@@mela6885 Every night when I check the door is locked and blinds are closed I peek outside and say goodnight to all my little friends. Ducks, occasional alligator, lots of different birds, and where did the little lizards go? Lots of us are total mushes over these videos and our little friends at home.
It’s really nice to see you do all this just out of love and compassion. I raised a Canadian goose right from the shell, it was late hatching and left behind. It was one of the best experiences of my life. He live with us for five years, came in and out of the house with the dogs, I have many wonderful memories. Finally a little female came alone and enticed him to leave.

The 3rd baby may be a quiet ones compared to her siblings. But sure she is a strong baby. She may sense it the dad wanted to give her a helping hand to come out from the shell and she quickly made a hole by herself!

@@charlestonscnative9083 Yep. They do. For some reason a lot of the flightless bird species are like that. Most flightless dads raise the chicks alone, too. I wouldn't doubt that they help them hatch, too.

We need this type of tenderness for humans too. Yes, animals love unconditionally. Maybe that's the lesson for mankind - altho it has its drawbacks, cuz humans have been so cruel to other humans they think are less than, we've set our own destruction in motion. But it's lovely to watch this man tend to animal eggs with such devotion....

Yours was the video I didn't know I needed to see tonight. My Dad died just 6 months ago & today being the beginning of March, a month that would have been my Mom & Dad's 62 wedding anniversary & my Dad's 84th birthday. I am heartbroken for my Mom who feels so alone since she married my Dad at the tender age of 16. Setting off to be the wife of a Canadian Navy man. She had her kids at 18 & 21 then moved 1860 km from ALL her family in Nova Scotia to Ontario. A brave woman indeed!!
