I already spent my tears earlier while watching the most beautiful Hawaiian singer of all time singing his version of "Over The Rainbow." So this may have been the first time I've watched an acca video without tears. This time I just have a giant smile. ❤

This man is a treasure. I have watched for years as he has hatched eggs, doctored sweet birds ...his heart is huge. It is a privilege to watch his work.
I’ve rescued animals my whole life. Starting with baby birds that had fallen out of nests. Then it turned into bringing home injured birds. Then cats and puppies. It can be heart breaking. But it’s far more rewarding. ❤ Seeing the smiles on his face when they interact is priceless.
you dont even know how happy this man's videos make me. Like every time something good happens(in this case, the egg's cracking noise and his reaction to the emu breaking herself out without help) makes me increasingly fill with joy and tears start rolling down my face with wholesomeness, its just too cute
I am alot older than you, but you remind me of my dad when I was young and he would be up all night taking care of hatchlings or eggs in homemade incubators without scientific knowledge but only instinct and try to save baby birds. ....and then have to reluctantly go to his job during the day but come home for lunch to check them and give his kids simple chores regarding their care. What a wonderful way to grow up. He was still saving rescued wild animals in his late years. Thanks for the memories

I have an emu who we found alone and abandoned in the Arizona desert over twenty years ago. She has a good home and will live out her days in peace. She stopped producing eggs many years ago. They were the most beautiful green eggs. So lovely to see what our Ribbon would've looked like right out of the egg! Beautiful work you are doing in your sanctuary.

@Wooters1When I was younger, there was a push to farm emus in the US. It never became widespread or very cost-effective, so the practice has died off. My aunt and uncle had one, but only one. We called it the Funny Farm because they had one or two of a lot of different species. I think they're neat looking birds, but I wouldn't want to eat one!

Oh wow, Alwyn, Emus ❤ I’m not sure many people will understand how difficult it is to incubate Emu eggs. Getting the humidity correct for each egg, turning them by hand, reducing humidity if needed and raising it in other cases, just Wow. It’s incredible that you were able to hatch all 3! I truly wish you could have a television show, you’re an incredible human being and so loved by your ACCA community. Very beautiful soul indeed.🙏🏻❤️
I've never had trouble with EMUs. They reproduce like rabbits. Ask Australia! It's the RHEAs that are fragile to incubate. EMUs can incubate in a puddle of pig feces and still hatch.

I'm the father of a 4 month old girl. The last few months have been so difficult because I was essentially a single dad. I've been sad and unhappy for a while and this video just made me cry tears of joy. Thank you. I'll hug my daughter extra tight tonight.

This is the best thing on the internet!! I immediately subscribed. We hatched a baby chicken on our stovetop when the mother abandoned her old eggs. We were about to discard the eggs when I heard one cheeping! We immediately made a makeshift incubator on the stove on low heat with wet towels all around and she hatched a day later! It was the most incredible feeling!

Dogs can and do "lie", great apes can even plan misdirections, and in humans its an integral part of our functioning social behaviour. People who cannot _(some forms of autism or compulsions can cause such patterns)_ are considered heavily debilitated in our society by their inability. As someone who has only really reared species with easily-candled eggs of a size that will mostly fit in incubators with automatic turning functions, I applaud your weeks of painstaking weight monitoring and manual turning, especially when there's no 100% way to know if the eggs/chicks are viable until they're almost at their hatching date! I'm sure the feeling when the third egg started to hatch was amazing.

@@BlackSeranna I don't think he thought it was dead yet, that's why he kept trying - but he was surely getting worried with lack of activity and taking longer to hatch. There was still the possibility it simply wouldn't have survived, but I'm happy she made it :)

My first time here, these birds are beautiful. I just lost my precious Ozzy (Cockatiel) after he was in our family for over 12 years or longer.. we stopped counting after so long, he passed this month and took a piece of my Spirit with him. Seeing these newly born babies gave me joyful tears. Thanks for sharing your love for birds as well.

In the middle of hurricane Milton here, watching updates. Your video popped up. That absolutely filled my heart, made me smile and tear up. Even being a rescuer all my life, it's one of the most amazing things I've seen. Family's been through... Lot of loss, smiles, warm fuzzy feelings aren't so common, this sure gave them to me. Loved watching your heart fill, every time they whistle back, or you pick them up etc. 👏 🪺💓

I have to say, as someone who is used to being (mostly affectionately) called "animal-crazy", that moment with look on your face when the chicks hatch is so wonderfully familiar to me. Some people might not get it, but those of us like you live and breathe for it. You brightened up my whole week with that one look, sir.
The babies are precious but there is another treasure here to be appreciated as well. To see a man be gentle and kind with babies or children, human or animal is a wonderful sight. Thank you for the kindness you showed and shared with us.

My Dad died just 6 months ago & today being the beginning of March, a month that would have been my Mom & Dad's 62 wedding anniversary & my Dad's 84th birthday. I am heartbroken for my Mom who feels so alone since she married my Dad at the tender age of 16. Setting off to be the wife of a Canadian Navy man. She had her kids at 18 & 21 then moved 1860 km from ALL her family in Nova Scotia to Ontario. A brave woman indeed!! I've been an animal rescuer since the age of 5, 79 years ago. It's heartbreaking at times, but so well worth it. Wild birds have been the hardest for me. The last rescue failed and I had him cremated, not just for him but for all the others I couldn't save.

The way the two little ones perked up when you whistled for the egg.. just wow.. It reminds me of when I gave birth to our oldest son. My husband had been drawing smiley faces and water melons on my belly throughout pregnancy. He chatted and sang to the baby (and me).. then when I went into labor the birth went *really* fast. The doctor ended up coming in right *after* the delivery. Dave started talking to the doctor and our newborn son opened his eyes and turned his head right towards my husband.. it was absolutely amazing..

This has to be the most wholesome thing I seen on TH-cam in a long long time. Yeah some of us take longer to break out of our shell than others. I had worked on myself for years to overcome my anxiety and introvertedness, and was just starting to feel confident around others and self accepting, but then the pandemic hit and the combo of being stuck in negative social family dynamics, forced social distancing, fear related to health.... have set me back decades. All the reading of self help books, all the social events I forced myself to suck it up and attend, all the daring adventures taken as attempts to build my belief in myself, all undone when we were literally commanded to retreat into ourselves. I ended up back in my shell big time. Others have jumped back into life but I'm like egg #3. It's going to take me a minute. And now without the crutches of alcohol and smoking that I used rely on in my 20's. Too much cancer in the family to play around with my cells and DNA anymore. Oh well, here goes...🥚🐣

I was wondering what bird they were going to grow into? I knew from the size of the egg that it was a big bird but I had never seen an Emu egg. I thought they would favor Ostrich eggs. Boy was I wrong. Emu eggs look like stones to me. But those Emu babies are incredibly cute. Most baby birds are pretty ugly, all legs and no feathers...I had Zebra Finches that had babies and they weren't the cutest things as far as baby animals go. And watching these baby Emu trying to control those long necks and legs and big feet, was like watching a toddler take it's first steps unaided...wobbly and crooked. Tooooo cute.

I’ve rescued animals my whole life. Starting with baby birds that had fallen out of nests. Then it turned into bringing home injured birds. Then cats and puppies. It can be heart breaking. But it’s far more rewarding. ❤ Seeing the smiles on his face when they interact is priceless.

I am alot older than you, but you remind me of my dad when I was young and he would be up all night taking care of hatchlings or eggs in homemade incubators without scientific knowledge but only instinct and try to save baby birds.
....and then have to reluctantly go to his job during the day but come home for lunch to check them and give his kids simple chores regarding their care. What a wonderful way to grow up. He was still saving rescued wild animals in his late years. Thanks for the memories

I have an emu who we found alone and abandoned in the Arizona desert over twenty years ago. She has a good home and will live out her days in peace. She stopped producing eggs many years ago. They were the most beautiful green eggs. So lovely to see what our Ribbon would've looked like right out of the egg! Beautiful work you are doing in your sanctuary.

@Wooters1When I was younger, there was a push to farm emus in the US. It never became widespread or very cost-effective, so the practice has died off. My aunt and uncle had one, but only one. We called it the Funny Farm because they had one or two of a lot of different species. I think they're neat looking birds, but I wouldn't want to eat one!

Oh wow, Alwyn, Emus ❤ I’m not sure many people will understand how difficult it is to incubate Emu eggs. Getting the humidity correct for each egg, turning them by hand, reducing humidity if needed and raising it in other cases, just Wow. It’s incredible that you were able to hatch all 3!

I've never had trouble with EMUs. They reproduce like rabbits. Ask Australia! It's the RHEAs that are fragile to incubate. EMUs can incubate in a puddle of pig feces and still hatch.

This is the best thing on the internet!! I immediately subscribed. We hatched a baby chicken on our stovetop when the mother abandoned her old eggs. We were about to discard the eggs when I heard one cheeping! We immediately made a makeshift incubator on the stove on low heat with wet towels all around and she hatched a day later! It was the most incredible feeling!

I know what the title said but the suspense was a little stressful. I loved hearing the bird 3 chirping while hatching. It was such a precious sound.
All that drama and worry was made up, the egg was fine from the start, still it was effective play acting.

As someone who has only really reared species with easily-candled eggs of a size that will mostly fit in incubators with automatic turning functions, I applaud your weeks of painstaking weight monitoring and manual turning, especially when there's no 100% way to know if the eggs/chicks are viable until they're almost at their hatching date!

You can tell a live egg from a dead one because a dead one is cold. I used to raise geese and this is how we told at the end. You can feel life inside, you see.
@@BlackSeranna I don't think he thought it was dead yet, that's why he kept trying - but he was surely getting worried with lack of activity and taking longer to hatch. There was still the possibility it simply wouldn't have survived, but I'm happy she made it :)

My first time here, these birds are beautiful. I just lost my precious Ozzy (Cockatiel) after he was in our family for over 12 years or longer.. we stopped counting after so long, he passed this month and took a piece of my Spirit with him. Seeing these newly born babies gave me joyful tears. Thanks for sharing your love for birds as well.

In the middle of hurricane Milton here, watching updates. Your video popped up. That absolutely filled my heart, made me smile and tear up. Even being a rescuer all my life, it's one of the most amazing things I've seen. Family's been through... Lot of loss, smiles, warm fuzzy feelings aren't so common, this sure gave them to me. Loved watching your heart fill, every time they whistle back, or you pick them up etc. 👏 🪺💓

'holding her when she broke through' - I wondered if this was to imprint the chick so it would a) see the human as its mother and follow him everywhere, and/or b) get used to human contact for future life in the petting zoo.
I have to say, as someone who is used to being (mostly affectionately) called "animal-crazy", that moment with look on your face when the chicks hatch is so wonderfully familiar to me. Some people might not get it, but those of us like you live and breathe for it. You brightened up my whole week with that one look, sir.

My Dad died just 6 months ago & today being the beginning of March, a month that would have been my Mom & Dad's 62 wedding anniversary & my Dad's 84th birthday. I am heartbroken for my Mom who feels so alone since she married my Dad at the tender age of 16. Setting off to be the wife of a Canadian Navy man. She had her kids at 18 & 21 then moved 1860 km from ALL her family in Nova Scotia to Ontario. A brave woman indeed!!

I've been an animal rescuer since the age of 5, 79 years ago. It's heartbreaking at times, but so well worth it. Wild birds have been the hardest for me. The last rescue failed and I had him cremated, not just for him but for all the others I couldn't save.

It reminds me of when I gave birth to our oldest son. My husband had been drawing smiley faces and water melons on my belly throughout pregnancy. He chatted and sang to the baby (and me).. then when I went into labor the birth went *really* fast. The doctor ended up coming in right *after* the delivery. Dave started talking to the doctor and our newborn son opened his eyes and turned his head right towards my husband.. it was absolutely amazing..

@@charlestonscnative9083 Yep. They do. For some reason a lot of the flightless bird species are like that. Most flightless dads raise the chicks alone, too. I wouldn't doubt that they help them hatch, too.
This just goes to show that the connection between a human and an animal is very strong and that we as humans must understand that we must take care of not only our own self but also our animals in need of our help in order to thrive in this environment that they themselves did not ask to be in! They need love just as we do! You are a true angel of love to those chicks! Thank You for your kindness and love for them! 👏❤️✌️
This has to be the most wholesome thing I seen on TH-cam in a long long time. Yeah some of us take longer to break out of our shell than others. I had worked on myself for years to overcome my anxiety and introvertedness, and was just starting to feel confident around others and self accepting, but then the pandemic hit and the combo of being stuck in negative social family dynamics, forced social distancing, fear related to health.... have set me back decades. All the reading of self help books, all the social events I forced myself to suck it up and attend, all the daring adventures taken as attempts to build my belief in myself, all undone when we were literally commanded to retreat into ourselves. I ended up back in my shell big time. Others have jumped back into life but I'm like egg #3. It's going to take me a minute. And now without the crutches of alcohol and smoking that I used rely on in my 20's. Too much cancer in the family to play around with my cells and DNA anymore. Oh well, here goes...🥚🐣
My heart goes out to you. Value your life. Find some good to do in the world, please come out of your shell ❤❤❤

As an older introvert I appreciated the opportunity to retreat into myself that the pandemic gave. I got to ponder the events of my life and how and why I had developed the responses I had, and feel cleansed, even purified after long last. Wisdom long awaited.

I was wondering what bird they were going to grow into? I knew from the size of the egg that it was a big bird but I had never seen an Emu egg. I thought they would favor Ostrich eggs. Boy was I wrong. Emu eggs look like stones to me. But those Emu babies are incredibly cute. Most baby birds are pretty ugly, all legs and no feathers...I had Zebra Finches that had babies and they weren't the cutest things as far as baby animals go. And watching these baby Emu trying to control those long necks and legs and big feet, was like watching a toddler take it's first steps unaided...wobbly and crooked. Tooooo cute.
@@tammyfoster197 people in my family had an emu farm for a little while before i was born. there are some remaining carved emu eggs from it. pretty eggs, nice color

Oh my goodness, when #2 hatched ... those EYES!!! And when #3 did finally hatch, wow! Just wow! Honestly, I've had a crappy morning, but my crappy morning became irrelevant as soon as that little life stepped into this big world. At 6:03-6:05 if you watch closely there was a visible moving of the egg... It was just a little move, but it had a reaction for your whistle. Love your videos and your "little kids", please never stop. :)
