Chromatically with multiphonic-fingerings down to Kontra F. - เพลง
"beat that" ha, challenge accepted. I play tuba
Luis Torres
Tuba can play miles lower than the contrabassoon
We played a frozen medley and in “For The First Time in Forever” we had a (written in) tuba split that went down to A0 if C4 is middle C. Current lowest note is somewhere around an F or G. Got him beat by an octave (or a 7th if I’m having a bad day)
But also I wanna know how he got down to an F
Challenge accepted. I play octocontrabassoon.
guz zzzx I can go lower on bari sax
Incredible! Any way to share your fingerings?
Interesting, your the first person to make those multi phonics sound like low notes, nice! Usually you have to strain to hear it and they sound like....
Yes very true, I've heard some people trying to do the same but what you hear the most are the overtones. I made my own version of fingerings that I think work better, they are also surprisingly idiomatic; extremely easy combinations... Imagine a full bassoon-choir playing an F-major/minor chord, with all the chords notes covered all the way from this Kontra F up to the high C''' (or even F'''). Would sound AWESOME!
Are these alternate fingerings available to view anywhere?
from this (rly low f) to the bassoon playing higher than piccolo thats 7 octaves on a bassoon. wow
wow! I really wanna see these fingerings 😁
All them woodwinds talking till a trombone/tuba player comes into the room and does pedal tones 🥱🥱🥱
Incredible! as a composer, I had no idea that these notes below b flat could be achieved!
how are they?
Very cool! I'm just a rank amateur and had no idea such alternate fingerlings existed. Are they problematic though, either mechanically or intonation-wise? I ask because I've heard that it's common for orchestras to use contra bassoon's for Wagner because of low A... Which, if there's a workable alternative......?
The fingerings I've made and use here got extremely easy combinations, very idiomatic, the intonation is not too bad either actually. Regarding the low A's you often find in Mahler and Wagner the alternatives are either to:
1) Get a low A-bell
2) Make your own extension
3) Bend the B-flat down to A
4) Use the kind of fingerings I'm using here
5) Let the Contrabassoon / Contraforte play it
6) Play it Octava
Is there a way to do this with sax? Sounds awesome!
How did you manage this? Without the Bb key even???
How can You do The note A ?
What bassoon is that?
The fingerings and explanation of how to play this is available in "The Expanded Bassoon Register", here: www.kristianomaronnes.com/methodes

I play Euphonium and I can reach lower notes
is that lower than piano?
No, still a 6th above the lowest note on piano. Sounds like KOR might need to step it up!
If experienced enough the tenor trombone can easily go down to double pedal F
