  • In this video we get a Mazda 3 in with a TSS fault only when cold. We get to the root of the cause with our picoscope 4425A and some live data.

    Hot and cold testing is crucial for a good diagnosis. Many techs forget that. Good catch! 😉

      Thanks again Max, thinking twice about hot and cold is definitely important

    One more amazing video. Thanks for the effort you put, to feed our brains 🤣.
    The quality of the picture is very very good. One moment, I thought I was there and looking the car with my eyes.

    Great video as usual👍
    It's odd that this sensor was failing when cold but start's functioning at operating temp😉
    Thanks for sharing Bro, Stay Safe👍

      Instantly sounds like a solder crack issue on some part of the sensor. Up to temp it bridges the gap

    Wow it’s been a while since we’ve had 40°C here. Of course that’s 104°F to us Yanks. We do typically get there in our summer months. Sometimes weeks on end of those kind of temps. Yesterday we had a wicked cold windy day with wind chills near 0°F, or in your case -17°c. That’s ridiculous cold to the bone in case you need a testimonial lol.
    Love the diag. Do you use the scope function on your Verus? Personally I use the the scope function on my older SnapOn Modis regularly. Love seeing the amperage waveforms it’s like seeing cure in 3D. In fact as more cases one in I’m planning to make a simple video on that soon.
    Keep the Aussie content coming!!!

      I only thought you got the snow days Kevin!! Little do I know haha.
      My city is the sunny part of Australia so we don't get the chills too often. However my wife is Polish and when in Poland, I definitely get the chills! haha
      Honestly I'm not a fan at all of the verus scope. I'll use it if I have to but I'd rather use any of my other scopes first with Pico top of the bunch.
      Thanks again for watching!

    These mazdas run at 98-103 deg it usually fries the tcm and sensors , my fix to reduce the heat and save engine parts is to Intercept the ground wire on fans and control it with my own digital co trolley to turn fans on at 84 and off at 78

      Coolant temps? Wow that's high
      My diesel at idle and slow crawling speeds on a hot day can get to 100 Celsius. I might try something like you've said here

    Guys beware from the output speed sensor ( the full black sensor without the iron tip) ، if u remove it the oil will leak immediately , be ready for that , put something under the car .... .

    Hi during the test run, was the transmission slipping? How many sensors the transmission have, meaning I have seen transmission with 3 sensors on it and I kept getting a P0720 DTCs no matter how many sensors I replaced or clear the code. Will scope it next time. Thanks

    • @romanosautomotive
      @romanosautomotive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No Daniel, definitely not slipping. Have you still got the vehicle? Would love to see the live data off it?

    • @DJ-tn7vj
      @DJ-tn7vj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@romanosautomotive the client end up calling the transmission and all is well. Not sure if the internals was the issue that kept setting the code and had the gears slamming in. The trac and vss light will either flash or stay on. And that was frustrating so he just replace the entire thing. No more codes

    If my 2011 Mazda 3 is reading a P0720, then should I start with the input output sensors or is it calling for transmission fluids/filters/solenoid replacement, or could it be the tcm? Sorry I just don’t know where to start and TH-cam hasn’t been clear

    I had this same light on my dash with AT light. Car is running fine and I replaced the sensor since it was inexpensive to do so. AT light is on but there is zero slipping. Car runs perfect. Not sure how to try and clear the AT light?

      Plug a scanner scan codes then erase the AT light should clear if not repeat method with car on
