@@GregFortier-z2e glad you’re enjoying! Blaster master is a great one - really enjoyed the race I played in that one this week. Appreciate the kind words!
On normal mode Metal Man is done with one metal blade, but in Difficult mode it's 2(doubled, as everything is doubled) but the initial comment was correct, just for the normal mode though…😁😁
I knew there was something that could take out a boss in s single hit, at least on normal mode. I always thought it was metal blade against Wood Man, but maybe I was thinking of the endgame boss rush. Or maybe a fully charged heat blast takes out Wood Man on normal, but could've sworn it was metal vs Wood. Maybe a Mandela Effect 😅
19:20 - Unsure if you ever figured this out but you want to use Air Man's weapon against these giant robots. 38:39 - Wind Man's weapon is good for grinding this area. 52:12 - Metal Man is weaker to Metal Blade so much so that it takes two hits to kill him 53:51 - If you hold RIGHT here and just keep holding RIGHT, you can make it through this stage without ever having to stop moving
@@BrianD0313 yes a few other shared these tips but this is great. Thanks for the time stamps too. This will be helpful to anyone else going through the game as well!
Wily Stage 1 is the song that I play constantly in my head. Let me tell you how good Mega Man's music truly is. I started gaming in 1986 with the Nes and Master System. I played many, many games during the 3rd generation but Mega Man was a serious I hadn't been exposed to all that much. I was all about Castlevania, Contra, Punchout, Mario, Zelda, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden, Blaster Master...you know, the usual suspects. I was exposed to Mega Man 2 at a birthday party one time and in that briefest of moments, I never forgot that music. It is what eventually led me to getting Mega Man for my Saturn and then going back just to play them all in the mid 1990's. From the Nes, Snes, Saturn, and finally continuing on the Playstation. I loved the Sega Genesis remakes as well. Honestly, I have beaten every single 2d Mega Man game that has released in the US. I actually just came here to listen to that sweet Capcom audible chocolate and watched the entire playthrough. Great job!
Wow I’m honored! And that’s how it happens right? A game just grabs you out of nowhere and you’re hooked! Happened to me with Contra. Thanks for sharing the story and thanks for watching!
Cool trip down memory lane with this game. 2 was definitely my favorite Mega Man game back in the day. Surprised you didn't highlight the pause/unpause trick to avoid damage on Wily Stage 4 boss. And if you use Metal Blade on Metal Man in the boss rush, you 1-shot him.
I think I know vaguely about the pause unpause trick. And another commenter mentioned the metalman 1 shot kill I knew nothing about. I gotta check that trick you’re talking about.
It’s great to hear that MegaMan 2 helped boost your channel. It’s been a favorite of mine since the week it was released. Great memories with this franchise. That ending is beautiful as MegaMan reflects for a year, walking through each season until I assume he returns home and hopes to never have to fight again. I am a little puzzled by the thumbnail for this video. You never mentioned “They ruined it” or at least never alluded to having that perspective.
Most of that was due to the overpowering of Metal Blade. Because it can be used so frequently to clear the game, it just sort of made me feel like it wasn’t hard enough to clear frankly. Still a good game, but may have been flirting with perfection otherwise.
I completely agree. I believe some mods are out there that have balanced the game properly. I’m fairly new to mods, but will point you in that direction once I get everything in order. Metal Blade with 2 and Rush Jet for 3 did make the games too easy.
Unfortunately, I never played any of the Mega Man Games. I do know they were highly popular. My impression of Mega Man Games are cool robots, interesting level designs, good visuals, neat power-ups, challenging levels, etc. Mega Man just looks like a fun and exciting experience. Maybe someday I will try these games. Thanks for your insights and comments on this game.
Still remember first seeing a glimpse of this game in some VHS video magazine and being so hyped for it that when I bought the game at Babbages and got it home, I beat it in one sitting. Probably didn't hurt my ability to do that Metalman's metal...blade...thing...worked on just about every enemy in the game, but it's still the one I most fondly remember.
The fact that metal blade is overpowered doesn’t move it from a great game to a bad one, just from a nearly perfect game to a still great one. Still get all the feels running through it.
Oh, I finished all six NES MegaMan games as a young teenager. I loved them, and I still love them. Just like you I got so blown away by the alien in the end xD
My classic route was BFQMWACH, mainly because Bubble was the first Mega Man stage I ever beat. Later I switched to MBFQWACH. I think the Quick Boomerang is a really underappreciated weapon -- I tended to use it more than Metal Blade.
It was sad to see that no stars were turned into birds. Great video. I really enjoyed it. I've beaten this game more times than I can count and I'm sure I will beat it many more times in the future.
I am sure someone has already said this but all of your complaints with metal blade were due to a programming glitch. Try it on an emulator and you will see the true intent.
You will never knock this game out of my top 10!! I play through the game every now and then! The arguments are valad though. I just choose not to use the Metal Blade that way. Good video btw, learned some new tricks to the boss patterns too!! Keep it up!
@@jessemasters1446 it’s still a great game to play through and loads of fun…that just nerfed the game a little too much for me. Awesome soundtrack though.
And I have a couple extra tips to add. Like when dealing with the final area, if you just scrape along the wall during the fall and just run blindly to the right, you can almost mindlessly avoid all those deadly acid drops. And Metal Man's weakest to... everyone's favorite weapon. Literally two shots.
Awesome walk-through. I've beaten this game several times in the past, but love your robot master order. Fun fact: When I was messing around with Alien Wily, I damaged him with bubble lead and tried then using the m-buster and he absorbed it and it restored his heal meter. And subbed.
Shooting him with m buster heals him??? That’s wild. I had no idea. Thanks a lot for the sub! More to come but glad you enjoyed. Got a few more on the channel if you’re interested.
@@retronate I plan to check those out. You have walk-throughs for a lot of my favorites including the original Final Fantasy. I was planning to play it again, and your walk-through will be very helpful.
Threw you a sub and a like simply because you're new, and things like making comments help the algorithm. Also, you have a great cadence for this. Cheers.
Extra comment I forgot to add. Metal Man is weak to Metal Blades. 1 shots him on the easy mode 2 shots him on the hard mode. So while Quick Boomerang is his weakness he is programmed to be weak to his own weapon. Give it a try. That is far faster and safer than using the Quick Boomerang.
@@leiratam I hated taking him out with the m buster, especially since there are some of his attacks that are simply unavoidable. Having the leaf shield makes it a guarantee.
The disappearing blocks in heat man's stage seemed more frustrating than the bosses for me as a kid. Probably because I'm American. Waiting around was akin to torture. :D
I haven't heard someone say "Bugger" upon death in a Mega Man game since RoahmMythril did his perfect runs. The fact it happened on the dragon makes it sound suspiciously like an Easter Egg lol
The Sniper Joes mechs die in one hit to the air cannon, and if you can get close to Crash Man to hit him with all three air cannon shots at once it's a single hit kill. Metal Blade is also a single hit kill on metal man as well.
For me for every mega man game I knew all the bosses weaknesses but I was a X-buster type of guy kill everything in game with that. One shot wood man with charge shot from heat man’s weapon lol 😆. Going through all mega man games with X-buster is how I got my challenge. It still was easy for me of course any game would become boring and easy when you cheese it out.
The reason I personally think most people consider MM2 the best Mega Man game is because: 1.) Most MM classic fans are Gen X. MM2 and MM3 came at the height of the NES's popularity. 2.) The aesthetics are the best here. The other Mega Mans have okay aesthetics, but MM2 is off the charts. 3.) MM2's music is incredible 4.) It's paced very well. 8 bosses then straight to Wily. No middle section of 4 extra stages. 5.) It's easy. I'm able to beat all the Mega Man classics (plus MM9 and MM10), but there's something chill about playing MM2 every time. There's no areas where I have to sweat and I love this about MM2. the easyness makes it good.
All points well taken. The music is really incredible. It’s a very “snack food” type of playthrough. It’s definitely the superior looking game to the original, but for whatever reason I prefer to play back through 1 instead of 2. Maybe some of this is because I wore the game out as a kid. That might have an affect on my appetite to replay it now.
Everyone prioritizes various aspects of games differently. For me, it's just aesthetics. There's something very old-school Japanese anime to it. It's the most Mega Man of all the Mega Mans. If that makes sense. Kudos for you for liking 1 more than 2. You're rare.@@retronate
Also, I want to add a counterpoint to your video. While having Metal Man's weapon first makes the game super easy, I don't think most casuals can beat Metal Man with the regular buster, Hell, I didn't even know until I watched your video. I always started with Flashman first, which makes the game a bit "harder". @@retronate
If you shoot 4 Metal Blade shots you lose 1 bar of ammo. If you shoot 3 and open the weapon menu you lose nothing. So you can get unlimited ammo firing 3 shots then opening the weapon menu.
@@retronateGame is buggy. Old programming is easy to cheat. NES era games often have wacky little bugs. You trick the game as it never used enough ammo to take any.
Nate You broke my heart with your top 25 game comment. This was a top 5 for me. But I see now now why this game is easier than I remember when you use the metal blade. Considering I always started with quick man I never was smart enough to put together the powerful impact of the metal blade. Great point. Even though you just ruined my childhood memory, hahaha. NinjaGaiden 4 life
I could be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure it's a 1 shot kill if you use the metal blade against Metal Man in the Wily stage. Great video! Really brought me back.

Holy cow man that’s high praise! And not taken lightly - really glad to hear you enjoyed it. We’ve got a few more that we’ve published if you wanna check em out, but man I really appreciate the kind words. Just glad to honor games that I and others enjoy.
When dealing with the drill enemies use the leaf shield instead of the metal blades since the shield will take them out in a single hit. For the boss of Wily Stage 2 use the bubble instead of the metal blade on it to take out each one faster. On Metal Man's stage you can get the E tank without using the items to cross the pit by using the the pause trick to jump across the pit by pausing repeatedly to make the gap. many people don't know this but you can use the pause menu to extend Megaman's jump and that's how I learned to get the E tank way back in the day when the game came out. At the same time, when using the bubble, metal blade or the boomerangs you can make the weapon charge last even longer by bringing up the weapon menu between every shot.
@@HellTantrumbullI never got comfy using bubble. Despite more shots, metal blades versatility seems like a no brainer there. I don’t think I knew about the pause glitch. One other commenter mentioned the menu trick. I’m sort of anti glitch but that’s great info!
@@retronate After watching your video and a few others I saw of people playing MM2, I'm tempted to make a new deathless run video since it's been several years now since I last made one for it. 😶🌫😶🌫

You can kind of cheat your way through the crash bombs room. By pausing and unpausing rapidly, you can walk through the walls because of the way they re-render each time.
The acid drops are easy to- hug the right as you fall down the shaft and then book it through the tunnel as fast as possible. You’ll pass each acid drop before it can drop at you.
Sure. I don’t hate the game because of it and I think it broadened appeal to many players because of it. Just not my preference but who am I anyway? Lol
This takes me back, Mega Man X series is the only one I haven't finished. I think I either got frustrated with it or something came out while I was playing it that grabbed my attention away from it. Hopefully they're on your list sooner rather than later. This one did feel easier due to being able to use the blades for so many bosses.
I first got this game when I was in second grade, though I may have been in third grade by the time I finished it. Almost always I played Heat Man last. I needed help getting past past the Wily stages, and and the best help was to watch someone else play.
You talk about how metal blade isn't fun, but you keep using it. It's essentially an in game difficulty setting that you keep putting on easy whilst complaining about how easy it is. 😂
Fair point, but if I have to willfully cut off use of an item that the game offers to enjoy it more, that feels like it warrants slight critique (complaining feels strong but I get what you’re saying)
@retronate716 yeah, the fact that you have to consciously make the choice to limit yourself is a burden the game imposes on you. It does ruin the satisfaction in a way
@@retronate Doesn’t having an in-game difficulty setting qualify as intentionally handicapping yourself by selecting harder difficulties? Having weapons that are more or less effective kind of makes the difficulty setting even more granular. I do agree with you, though- I think that every tool in game should have a cost/benefit to it- there shouldn’t be any item/weapon that is clearly better for most situations.
I played this game as a kid and it only took me till i was in my late 30s to complete it. Well worth the wait and the first thing i did was call my older brother to tell him i finally did it.
You're allowed to be wrong once in awhile. :p This is THE GOAT. My favorite of the series. My favorite music. Metal Man music is my humming tune, even better played by a metal band. Flash Man is wicked cool too, pardon the pun. Why can't the game be so immensely loved amd popular just because it's fun? The beauty of these games is that you can start with almost any of the Masters first. I used to start with Air Man. Only recently did I try starting with Metal Man. Others have touched on the more common tips, some more. Fully charged Atomic Fire will handle Quick Man, as will the blast from Crash Bombs. So fire a Crash Bomb into a wall and go stand next to it. Quick Man, like many others, will kamikaze himself and jump into/at you and take a hit or two from the blast. Flash Man is extremely weak, as even the Mega Buster will do a lot of damage. He is also truly weak to Crash Bombs though to keep the order of robots going smoothly. That could be why there's elevated platforms. The "Room Boss" in Dr. Wily's castle is also weak to Bubble Lead, but it's admittedly more difficult to hit with them. There's a trick to extend the uses of Metal Blades and Quick Boomerangs to get pretty much infinity usage out of them. Metal Blades get 7 or 8 uses before an energy bar depletes. If you fire like 6 or 7, open the menu and close it. You won't use energy on the next one. For Quick Boomerangs, I believe it's 4 then an energy bar is used up. You can do this with Bubble Lead too, but I think you can fire 2 before energy is used. Lastly, Leaf Shield is great for farming the drills.
@@darkjjak3804 one thing I appreciate here is that I know you’re arguing in good faith. I can totally see how many would think this one is the goat…I still see it in the elite tier of games. I don’t think I ever knew the room boss could be killed with Bubble Lead…that’s a new one for me. I definitely prefer this collective soundtrack over any other megaman - it has a valid claim to best on the console. Some others had mentioned the infinite metal blade/quick boomerang ammo trick which is really cool.
@retronate definitely Nate. I appreciate you. I appreciate your different takes on these games. If people didn't have different opinions this would be wicked boring.
Crash bombs are way more effective against Quickman than your regular shot. Even if you miss, they stick to the wall and still hit Quickman if he jumps into the area.
That is a big 'if' though. iirc, if you manage to hit quickman with crash-bombs, it deals a lot. if you miss, it's a pretty long time to be unarmed against such a fast opponent. (with no guarantee he'll be in the blast later) but yeah. The tactic: try crash bombs, only switch to time-stopper, after you've successfully halved his health-bar. used to try that
Megaman II is my all-time favorite NES game! And the soundtrack is unbeatable, In my opinion. But my favorite track is Dr. Wily 1! As a matter of fact, I don't know if you've heard him or not, but look up Mega Beardo. He does metal covers of video games, and did the entire Megaman II soundtrack! It's AMAZING!!!!
@@dluopa23 the soundtrack on this one is permanently etched in my brain. I grew up with this one. Solid game top to bottom. My only issue with it, as I mention in the video, is how the Metal Blade is quite OP. Still very fun and a joy to play back through.
I could’ve sworn I tried crash bombs and they didn’t work well. It’s also such a tough weapon to use comparatively. If you miss you gotta wait til it blows up to fire another? Just gimme the OP blade and we make quick work of him.
My theory about the Metal Blade is this: I heard that Capcom had told their staff that they could make this game in their spare time around other games. And while it is a fantastic game, I suspect that the Metal Blade was made that way for testing purposes. I suspect that one of the final steps was to at least weaken the number of them that you got at a time... if not nullify a bulk of the enemies... AND bosses that were so weak to it. But I suspect that this game was rushed into production before a tiny step of tidying up the code could be utilized. Besides, if the Metal Blade troubles ya... _just don't use it._
@@jupreindeer ugh…I know that option exists, and it’s not that it bothers me. I guess it’s more that I don’t want to have to augment how I play to make up for a game’s “problem” (really it’s not a problem - I’m sort of splitting hairs). Does that make sense? Maybe I’m being too rigid but it feels like having to do that is a justifiable knock on a game
Neat how Flash Man mission was the iconic song for you, Wily 1-2 is usually most folx go-to! MM2 was full of amazing soundtracks that twisted the NES hardware in every unique way it could and Flash Man's quiet background rhythm guitar behind the main melody just amazes me. I loved MegaMan 2 when it came out but I did notice exactly what you call out, how the metal blade almost trivialized the game. Near impossible to deplete, full screen coverage, supereffective vs multiple bosses, and not particularly difficult to get early. It was strange too, since they (mostly) did such a good job thematically matching weapons to bosses. Fire burns Wood. Time Freeze hurts Quick. Leaves hurt... uh... Air... (to this day I'd say they made a coding error and just got that one backwards, except it's literally Air's only weakness). But then Sawblades hurts Pretty Much Anything? I could see it for popping Bubble or even chopping Wood, but also Flash and Himself? Still a great game and better than MM1, tho, which missed the difficulty sweet-spot even farther, but in the opposite direction.
This is so well stated. Captures the essence of what I was getting at. It’s a great game and has many aspects of it that are top tier, the soundtrack chief among them. Thanks for watching!
Metal blade is the OP weapon of the mega man series for sure, but back in 1989 when I was a little kid. Beating metal man and getting a metal blade made me feel like I was on top of the world. Taking out those little frogs on bubbleman's stage with ease gave me that feeling I could beat the game!
I certainly don’t want to overlook that either. And you captured the essence of what made these games great - that feeling. The excitement. The hope. These days were the best.
Pro tip: on the final Wiley level, as youre falling, move all the way to the right and when you land just stay at the right edge of the screen all the way to the gate and youll miss all the acid drops.
Yeah I totally missed that push and a few others commented the same. Thought it was poetic when I said “don’t be stupid and lose life unnecessarily here” only to do exactly that lol
Metal man weapon or not, the challenge in this game is the platforming. I also remember playing this as a kid and taking forever to figure out that you needed to use the bubble weapon to beat the one alien boss.
@@fulltimemonti yeah the game is still great and very well made. Such a noticeable upgrade from the original. Doesn’t it also heal him if you hit the alien with your m buster?
Megaman gives him mercy because Asimov's first law of robotics prevents Megaman from harming a human being or through inaction allowing a human being to come to harm.
for wily stage 4 you can actually do a different method where you blow all walls up (no boss turrets) the first time then die on purpose then refill crash bomber and when you come back all the walls will be gone so you can kill the boss turrets at your leisure.
It's always interesting to see how so many people go through the robot masters in different orders lol. My order is: Metal man, flash man, wood man, bubble man, air man, crash man, quick man, heat man
Item -1 enchanments in later games: Item-1 --> Balloon (MM4); Item-2 --> Rush Jet; Item-3 --> Rush Coil (ok yeah I know you can't summon multiple rush coils, but it is closest one to that)
@@samppakoivula9977 no I mean it! I hadn’t thought of those parallels before. I’ll only be sarcastic if I know you and know it won’t get taken the wrong way. 😊
Always enjoy the opinions about the sound track. I loved Wiley stage 1 in 1990 so i am day one. Smooth mcgroove does a cool metal man. A band called Bit Brigade does the whole game and it is phenomenal. I celebrate that complete album.
Yeah as I’m doing these I’m always gravitating towards capcom and Konami titles as the ones I want to feature. I’ve gotta make a conscious effort to play others lol.
What I've seen people do with quick man which is what I do is you plant a crash bomb in the corner stand there and quick man may take a few hits and he's at least half way just use flash
Stage 5 Wiley you can two shot the first phase with a full charged heatman weapon. Just jump and turn around to hit it with the fireball that hovers over you then jump again a fire your charged shot.
Great video games are like great songs and great movies and TV shows. Seinfeld for example! I still love the episodes! What makes a TV show great? You love to watch the episodes again and again! Same for songs! When you hear the beginning of a song on radio you feel "I love this one" if you love it (about songs you've heard before). So this is why I love NES games like Zelda 1, Mega Man 1/2/... and some more games. Mega Man 2 is still standing so strong! When I see the sales numbers for games like Mario Kart 8 (over 60 million?) it feels so sad that Mega Man 2 only sold around 1,5 million copies. Why so few? Deserved to have sold over 15 million! I wonder if those 1,5 million is only the standalone copy. Because this game is included in so many compilations. The game is probably much more spreaded to than 1,5 million gamers! I'm not even including piracy. If we include piracy this game is probably spreaded so crazy much. Mega Man's official sales numbers are probably the most underrated in the gaming industry. I hope that Capcom will release even more Mega Man games! Plus remaster Mega Man 1-10 where Mega Man itself got the look and feel of the classic Mega Man (games 1-6 and 9-10). That would be so cool! Mega Man Wily Wars is kind of a 16-bit remaster (on Genesis). We need a Full HD remaster for all 10 classic games!
Yeah I think GameCube got a Mega Man collection. But same thing for other consoles as well. The latest one is that Legacy Collection 1+2 for 3DS (only 1, not 2), Switch, PS4 and more? There's a lot of Mega Man collections that I cannot even remember them all! Yeah Seinfeld is GOAT! "But Raymond is a man???" (George when he find out that he will get massage from a man) 😂😂😂 "I cannot work with these!! There's no... fine touch!" (Kramer on Jerry's dish washing gloves) Sic semper tyrannis!!! (Joe Devola when they record the pilot of Jerry) "Oooohhhh.... YOU!!!!" (Jerry when hugging his date that he doesn't know the name of) "I never became a banker!" Is there any Seinfeld video games? I also got the 7th season of "Curb" on DVD with that Seinfeld reunion! Fun fact: the guy in the record store where Kramer and Newman wanna sell used records ("we got Al Jolson, Al Jolson!!!") is the guy in the Saw movies! Jigsaw! And we got the guy from Police Academy as a cop in the coffee shop in one episode. The most video games related person in Seinfeld must be that kid from the movie about Super Mario Bros 3 when Kramer goes to Hollywood! Kramer was so nervous when he met that guy! Fred Savage!! Have to post this before I write too much about Seinfeld memories and fun facts :)
The way I always fight crash Man is I always jump towards him and then fire towards the bottom of my jump. There's a little perfect distance where you hit him once and as he keeps jumping his invincibility wears off and he gets hit again by the same tornado attack.

One thing I would suggest for Quick Man is Crash Man's weapon. Flash man is a great way to cut him down to half health, but I typically switch to Crash Man. If you miss, there's a delay while waiting for it to explode, but it seems to cause a bit more damage than the buster.
I never played Difficult mode, but on the rematches section, for Metal Man, I always used Metal Blade. If you want more proof on how OP it is, in Normal mode, Metal Blade will one shot Metal Man. I have to imagine that in Difficult mode it will also still be the weapon of choice against the Metal Man rematch.
Final tip on the final stage is do NOT take your time. Literally if you hug the right hand side of the screen, you will run under each acid drop before it can fall on you.
Enjoyed the video, but as a little extra tip on normal mode, when you start the fight with wiley after the boss rush, you can use one charged Atomic Heat to wipe out the first section of the battle and finish the second section with the metal blades. On the other mode I think it's 2 shots, it's been a while.
@@timjoseph887 can’t grab them in this one. Just shooting. But you can equip the weapons you acquire from beating bosses to change your ammunition type.
1 metal blade kills metal man. You can dodge the attack from the boss of Wily stage 4 by pausing as that gives you like 2 i frames vs his attack In Wily stage 4 you should have shown how to farm for items with leaf shild in the first and third moving plati rooms 1st yo just stand over the ladder and when energy or a life drops to the right pick it up otherwise just stand there for full leaf shild and health. Similarly you can stand on the top or bottom left in room 3 but room 1 is way easier to farm. You trying to farm in the drill tunnel in wily 3 was painfuly bad you dont need to wait you can push through and just get more health after plus dont waste metal blade when buster spam will work and almost all the drops if you buster spam are closer

38:39 - Wind Man's weapon is good for grinding this area.

I always loved Mega Man's return to the Shire at the end.
A really satisfying ending. Great note there. NES game endings were such an anticipated feature. This one delivered.
Great vid Nate! I’m excited to see more retro play throughs.

Yeah kinda crazy. Megaman 2 really brings people together I suppose. Feel free to check out the rest of the walkthroughs and hope you enjoyed!
Metal blade is why I enjoyed this game
I certainly see the appeal and clearly I rely heavily on it. Coming from MM1 I guess I just hoped they’d maintain that level of difficulty.
I think Wiley bought that house off of Nicolas Cage

This game was the Goat
I think it could’ve been. The choice to OP metal blade gave it wide ranging appeal, but not GOAT status for me, although still very enjoyable.
Unfortunately, I never played any of the Mega Man Games. I do know they were highly popular.
They’re still such great games that hold up over time. Thanks for watching!
@@retronate of course. I enjoyed it, let's see what else you've got
My classic route was BFQMWACH, mainly because Bubble was the first Mega Man stage I ever beat. Later I switched to MBFQWACH. I think the Quick Boomerang is a really underappreciated weapon -- I tended to use it more than Metal Blade.
Yeah quick has the same depletion rate and a nice attack radius. And really strong in wily levels.
It was sad to see that no stars were turned into birds. Great video. I really enjoyed it. I've beaten this game more times than I can count and I'm sure I will beat it many more times in the future.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am sure someone has already said this but all of your complaints with metal blade were due to a programming glitch. Try it on an emulator and you will see the true intent.

Oh yeah the acid drops I think I remembered after. A few more folks have mentioned metal blade on metal man. Thanks!

The metal blade wins the day
I’m almost every situation lol
Extra comment I forgot to add. Metal Man is weak to Metal Blades. 1 shots him on the easy mode 2 shots him on the hard mode. So while Quick Boomerang is his weakness he is programmed to be weak to his own weapon. Give it a try. That is far faster and safer than using the Quick Boomerang.
Yeah a few folks have mentioned that. Another tip I didn’t know!

It is nice to see someone else starting with Metal Man. I read a guide years ago, from Nintendo Power, that said you should start with Air Man.

@@retronate Wow. My long memory still works. lol!

Yep. That’s why I grab item 2 before then. No thanks lol.
I used to know the pattern.
I haven't heard someone say "Bugger" upon death in a Mega Man game since RoahmMythril did his perfect runs. The fact it happened on the dragon makes it sound suspiciously like an Easter Egg lol
@@kamikaze9699 I’m not even sure who you’re referring to so I can confirm that’s just a happy accident.
The Sniper Joes mechs die in one hit to the air cannon, and if you can get close to Crash Man to hit him with all three air cannon shots at once it's a single hit kill. Metal Blade is also a single hit kill on metal man as well.
Yeah some other folks mentioned that as well. Good stuff!
Funny I used to start with Flash Man.
Music like that to start is tempting. Best track in the game
Yeah I think if I stuck to them that’s where I’d land too. I love those sorts of challenges. That’s impressive!
The reason I personally think most people consider MM2 the best Mega Man game is because:
1.) Most MM classic fans are Gen X. MM2 and MM3 came at the height of the NES's popularity.
2.) The aesthetics are the best here. The other Mega Mans have okay aesthetics, but MM2 is off the charts.
3.) MM2's music is incredible
4.) It's paced very well.
This is some next level nerd brained stuff here and I love it.

You can kind of cheat your way through the crash bombs room. By pausing and unpausing rapidly, you can walk through the walls because of the way they re-render each time.
Some other people told me this truck too. I’d never heard it before posting this. Gotta give it a try
The acid drops are easy to- hug the right as you fall down the shaft and then book it through the tunnel as fast as possible. You’ll pass each acid drop before it can drop at you.
A few others said the same. Thanks!
OP metal blade is why this is my favorite MM game of all time. So sweet. Not a downgrade in my opinion but to each their own.

This takes me back, Mega Man X series is the only one I haven't finished. I think I either got frustrated with it or something came out while I was playing it that grabbed my attention away from it.
@@BenWard29 yeah interesting thought. I hear what you’re saying. I gotta think on this now
You can miss out experimenting with other weapons. Use Air Man's weapon on the purple mech things!
I played this game as a kid and it only took me till i was in my late 30s to complete it. Well worth the wait and the first thing i did was call my older brother to tell him i finally did it.
Man these are the stories the NES gave us. The pride when we finish that game we hadn’t ever completed. That’s awesome.
I’m so bad with crash bombs. I gotta work on cleaning up that fight. I just brute force and E tank until he’s toast lol
That is a big 'if' though.
iirc,
if you manage to hit quickman with crash-bombs, it deals a lot.
if you miss, it's a pretty long time to be unarmed against such a fast opponent.
(with no guarantee he'll be in the blast later)
but yeah.

Only time I ever used the enemy robots weapons was on the bosses. I stuck with regular gun through the whole game. lol
I don’t think I have the chops for that kind of attempt. That’s impressive!
Flash Man is weak to Crash Bomber! Not Metal Blades!

@@retronate haha. Agreed.
Also, the second Wily Stage boss at 41:00, Bubble Lead takes each piece out in one hit. Better than using lots of Metal Blades.
Better? Tomato tomahto? One thing I love about the megaman games is that every player has their own fingerprint…a unique way to complete.

Megaman gives him mercy because Asimov's first law of robotics prevents Megaman from harming a human being or through inaction allowing a human being to come to harm.
Ooh GREAT answer. Lol
for wily stage 4 you can actually do a different method where you blow all walls up (no boss turrets) the first time then die on purpose then refill crash bomber and when you come back all the walls will be gone so you can kill the boss turrets at your leisure.
Refilling just takes a bit and didn’t want to spend time on the walkthrough with that. But a valid method
It's always interesting to see how so many people go through the robot masters in different orders lol. My order is: Metal man, flash man, wood man, bubble man, air man, crash man, quick man, heat man
Yeah everyone has their own signature

You’re kind, but I’m nearly as proficient as some.
I just started watching this, but I used to watch this category all the time on Twitch... are you familiar with zips?
No not familiar with
@@retronateIt's a cool technique that allows you to "zip" past screens... check out some examples on TH-cam. A lot of speed runners use it.
What I've seen people do with quick man which is what I do is you plant a crash bomb in the corner stand there and quick man may take a few hits and he's at least half way just use flash
Someone else mentioned crash bombs on him. I never had great success with them but it makes sense since he always runs to the corner
Your choice of boss order was well done.
Why thanks! Tried to make the goal a balance of making super robots easier and having the items when needed. Thanks for watching!
Stage 5 Wiley you can two shot the first phase with a full charged heatman weapon. Just jump and turn around to hit it with the fireball that hovers over you then jump again a fire your charged shot.
Yeah big time whiffed on this. Didn’t realize til another commented mentioned it. Thanks!
on the boss rush at the end.. You can take metal man out with metal blade 2 shots for hard mode 1 shot for easy mode.
Yeah some other folks let me know about that. Loving what I’m learning from these comments. Thanks!
A HUGE upgrade over the original. Possibly the best Mega Man on NES? Not sure, but the next one was pretty ok too......
@@robertanderson2898 I’m partial to 3. 2 is still great and the one I played most growing up.
Didn’t GameCube do a collection of 1-7 plus a few other titles? I remember really enjoying that.
Also, you had me at Seinfeld. It’s the GOAT
"But Raymond is a man???" (George when he find out that he will get massage from a man) 😂😂😂
"I cannot work with these!! There's no... fine touch!" (Kramer on Jerry's dish washing gloves)
Sic semper tyrannis!!! (Joe Devola when they record the pilot of Jerry)
"Oooohhhh.... YOU!!!!" (Jerry when hugging his date that he doesn't know the name of)
"I never became a banker!"
Is there any Seinfeld video games?
Another video game related thing in Seinfeld is the arcade game Frogger 🥰
The way I always fight crash Man is I always jump towards him and then fire towards the bottom of my jump. There's a little perfect distance where you hit him once and as he keeps jumping his invincibility wears off and he gets hit again by the same tornado attack.
Someone else mentioned you can one shot him if you time it perfectly which is sweet.
Flash man my favorite track too, so much stuff going on
One of the best.
Very nice play through. I’m calling BS on that first dragon death, no way he hit you fairly. Regardless very enjoyable and great game
@@sebastiannock942 BULLCRAP!!! I felt the same way but complaining about it wouldn’t have been enjoyable for the viewer….or maybe it would…but I appreciate you recognizing this injustice
You must be a huge fan of Major League 2..... I've heard references in about 5 games so far. It's my favorite one! Don't need F-Bombs. LOL imagine if there was a weapon in Mega Man called that......😮
@@robertanderson2898 I quote those movies in my daily life constantly. You’re likely to hear it littered throughout lol
I beat this game a couple of month's ago for the first time i did't have the tip of going through it defeating meta man first. I alway's went to Woodman first then to Airman i did things the hard way now that i know i want to play through this game again. Yes it is a epic game but i have to say Megaman 3 has always been my favorite and its really a easy megaman game to me it was the first one i ever played as a kid and beat!
Make sure you’re subbed then….more coming 😉
I wanted this in 2022 before i gave up and got Mega Man 11 just you know
@@Kenneth-vi7cf it’s still a great game to play. I’ve never attempted MM11 but heard it’s pretty solid
@@retronate I played mm11 the full game for the first time back in 2022 it was solid then I from then I played this and beaten it every time as a skilled video game kid now I'm 17 and I beat mm11 two times yesterday I rock and you do too
@@Kenneth-vi7cf rock on!!! There are some really challenging ones for the NES in particular if you like playing the tougher ones. GGs!
this game is too much fun
It definitely is a very enjoyable play.
Arguably Metal Blade should be Wood Man's big weakness followed by Atomic Fire.
There’s a case to be made
One thing I would suggest for Quick Man is Crash Man's weapon. Flash man is a great way to cut him down to half health, but I typically switch to Crash Man. If you miss, there's a delay while waiting for it to explode, but it seems to cause a bit more damage than the buster.
Good call. Another commenter let me know that as well and it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for watching!
@@FFVison yep it is. 2 hits is what I’ve heard.
@@FFVison yeah another commenter shared that. I wasn’t sure so I played it safe…which of course cost me lol
Use the airman weapon on quickman for some big damage FYI
I always struggle with the timing of that attach. But I suppose it has a good chance of hitting him when he jumps.
Enjoyed the video, but as a little extra tip on normal mode, when you start the fight with wiley after the boss rush, you can use one charged Atomic Heat to wipe out the first section of the battle and finish the second section with the metal blades. On the other mode I think it's 2 shots, it's been a while.
Ha a friend of mine text me that tip after I posted this. Thanks!
What is the energy tank for?
Full refill of health.
@@retronatenext question. I read you can grab enemies. The only thing I have been able to do is shoot enemies.
@@timjoseph887 can’t grab them in this one. Just shooting. But you can equip the weapons you acquire from beating bosses to change your ammunition type.
We not only wanna walk-through we wanna know how to make super mega man. Do you know where the upgraded suit is in these games? That’s the key
@@JJ-yk7md I plead ignorance on that one. Fill me in
1 metal blade kills metal man.
You can dodge the attack from the boss of Wily stage 4 by pausing as that gives you like 2 i frames vs his attack
In Wily stage 4 you should have shown how to farm for items with leaf shild in the first and third moving plati rooms 1st yo just stand over the ladder and when energy or a life drops to the right pick it up otherwise just stand there for full leaf shild and health.
Some other folks also commented about metal blade on Metalman. Good notes for my next time through it. Thanks!
Mega Man was the perfect combination of Mario and Metroid. I put the series on my Mount Rushmore right there next to both of them and Link. Sorry, Simon Belmont, you are patiently awaiting new construction with Bionic Commando guy. Keep an eye on Master Higgins.
That’s a powerful Rushmore. Thanks for watching!
Air weapon kills those walkers one shot and drops the pilot
Yeah I whiffed on this. A few others commented the same. And I like using a variety of weapons to clear levels. I’ll use that next time I replay.
