  • In this video I use gorilla tape for the first time to reinforce a lexan rc body with the hopes that it will prevent the body from cracking. Sorry for some of the shotty camera work. I filmed this in the middle of the night and I probably should have had better lighting and a better camera angle but I thought I would still share the video with you guys.

    Ive been doing the extreme duty gorilla duct tape on all my rc car bodies as soon as I get them. It works great, hardly any cracking if any from heavy bashing and the tape dont come loose. I highly recommend this if you want your bodies to last

    Did this to my maxx body and loved how heavy and durable it felt. Gonna do it to my revo body as soon as possible

    I do this to my bodies. I use a flexible card to apply it, trim edges, and then carefully use a heat gun to heat the tape for better adhesion. Cant stress carefully enough you dont want to warp the body

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’ve never tried using a heat gun but the adhesive of the tape has been holding pretty well for me

    Rustoleum sells spray in box liner in a spray can. Thats what i find works best for a basher body. Only taping you have to do is masking the ouside edge of body to spray the inside. Unless you painting your own body then you use it as final coat before you remove protective film. 2-3 coats work best

      thanks for the tip! I have thought about trying flex seal or plastidip on an rc body but i'm not sure if it would bond or not

    U are a genius I hate when my body gets scratched up from a wheel rubbing under the body so I put electric tape where the wheels rub on the body they only rub when I go over bumps and the suspension compresses hard

      I learned this trick from others in the hobby so it’s nothing new that I created lol

    Hey thanks for sharing this video💯😜 So its doubled in weight? When you say its alot heavier? I need to do this to my senton and my rustler body. The rustler not to big of body but man the senton is as big as the slash body maybe tiny bit bigger. Again thanks for sharing with us I might do one gorilla tape the do shoe goe and drywall tape see what one works best.😁

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re welcome! It might be double the weight 🤔. It doesn’t blow away in the wind like a stock body tends to do. Yeah you should definitely try both methods. That’s what I’m gonna do

    another question here, how did this hold up??? Is it worth it???

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah it’s definitely worth it….makes it last at least twice as long or more

    Should I get a traxas slash 4x4 vxl or a xmaxx

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on how much you wanna pay? Xmaxx if you have the money just because it’s more capable but the slash is probably a more durable machine overall. Slash would be a bit faster though... on pavement anyway

    I've used Gorilla Tape to practically build things and it's lasted for years out in the weather, I wouldn't cover the whole thing though we could make it a little top of it list of places where it needs reinforcement

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is best to cover the entire rc with gorilla tape. At the very least the entire perimeter of the body and around the body post holes need to be done

  • @slomango7927
    @slomango7927 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    From my experience just to keep the weight down I only do the main problem areas instead of covering the whole body and it has worked great for years.

    A heat gun and the blunt end of razor knife does wonders to help adhere the gorilla tape to the body
