Hero Barrier actually has something that other attack stopping attacks don't have: you can activate it at the start/before the battle phase, and it will keep going regardless of your field state. This peculiarity saved me a few times in Duel Links, due to Ancient Gear running full power and preventing any other battle trap to properly work, but I agree that in any other case it's very poor
2:53 the manga effect for Terra Firma Gravity was much better, in there it switches all face up level 4 or lower monsters your opponent controls into attack position and forced them to attack Terra Firma
Actually, that does make it slightly more viable given that you only have to have bubbleman and metamorphosis to play it, kind of like the two neo-space monsters you can summon with NEX
Feather shot is actually useful if you have a High attack hero monster and hero mask in your hand you can send avian to the graveyard and your fusion monsters name will be avian and then you could attack multiple times.
You can use Prisma effect for copying Avian's name and use feather shot on it and in Mp2 you can fuse Prisma with Avian's name with Burstinatrix or idk, but this stills a too specific card effect
Elemental hero knospe is pretty good. If you have two of them on the field your opponent can’t target either of them for attacks and they both can attack directly each turn
Use Bubble Shuffle as such: Your opponent has an Attack Position monster on the field, and you have Bubbleman, Bladedge and Bubble Shuffle in your hand, and it's your turn. Normal Summon Bubbleman (with 800 ATK, it bypasses most Trap cards that destroy Normal Summoned monsters). Activate Bubble Shuffle right after to switch your opponent's monster and Bubbleman to Defense Position. Tribute Bubbleman to Special Summon Bladedge. (As a Special Summon, it bypasses most Trap cards that destroy Summoned Monsters) For Feather shot, use a combo of Skyscraper and Megamorph on Avian to give it 2000-3000 ATK during your Battle phase. Now you have a high-ATK beatstick that can attack as many of your opponent's monsters as you have monsters on your field, AND it'll have 2000 ATK during your opponent's turn.

Bastian: You know you could use Block Attack. Jaden: Shut up!
If they invented new versions of the first 5 Heroes from Avian to Bubbleman with similar effects to their spells and traps.. I would have an extra effect in mind and the new names
Roids suck, Batteryman aged... okay, Ally of justice has a few decent cards while the rest are a disappointment, Ice Barrier could do a gimmicky lockdown so that's cool... still sucks.
The card at number 1 actually has the potential to become useful... if in the future a card with the effect to change the names of monsters you control gets released, then you could potentially have Exodia pieces on the board or something, change their names to elemental heros, and use that card to return them to your hand to win... But I really doubt this card will ever be used for that 😟
It doesn’t mention HERO in its name or it’s effect, it specifically has to be all caps, I believe the one card that’s a confirmed part of the Archetype that breaks this rule is H - Heated Heart, but since HERO FLASH!! mentions it, it’s a part of the Archetype, Hero Medal is not
Feather shot can Be randomly comboéd with Hero mask in order to make a good hero fussion monster name "elemental hero avian and Kind of make an all out attack But it requires basically a set up that dosn´t have any search out cards... and since Hero mask is normal spell it can backfire with ease sorry for commenting.... pointing that out

The only use for the #1 card is how Jaiden used it in the anime, free your mind controlled heroes and return them to your hand. Might be an ok tech if it is vs a very stupid match up that keeps stealing all your cards to summon them but ehh it is the kind of cards that need main character plot armor to ever use.

I understand Jaden having a ton of different cards to surprise in different situations, and of course sell booster packs, but WOW even at the time, so many GX season one cards were painfully underpowered. Though, the GX manga (were Poison Rose comes from) was even worse about this. The cards from the GX manga were so underpowered that they would make commons from Metal Raiders look OP, to the point where most of them were buffed significantly or given completely different effects for their official TCG/OCG release.
I think it be cool to see a top 10 Unique Archetypes. Decks that have cool ways to play the game even if they sucked or no one decided not to try and play them
After reading Burst return, it actually has a specific situation where the effect is good. In the mirror match, if your opponent has a lot of elemental hero monsters, it'll return all other elemental heroes besides burstinatrix. So if your opponent has a field full of elemental heroes, they get sent to the hand.
Worse, I think it's supposed to save your own monsters from being destroyed by a subsequent Burst Impact...which they never adapted from the anime anyways, so what's even the point.
Burst return says it returns all elemental heroes, including your opponents. So it has a bit more use I guess? Like maybe in a mirror match E-Hero duel. I think it was used in the anime when Jaden’s monsters were stolen from him to bring them back to his hand.
So... Back in the good old synchro days, I actually ran a neos/hero fusion deck that ran 3 knospe. The whole idea was to whip out a neos fusion and a knospe or 2 to keep the damage packing on while keeping any powerful monsters at bay, main tactic was flare neos.
Burst Return had a partner card in the anime called Burst Impact, where if you control a Burstinatrix, all monsters except Burstinatrix are destroyed on the field. So you were supposed to use Burst Return to return all your monsters to keep them safe, and then use Burst Impact to wipe the field; sadly, Burst Impact was never made into an actual card.
Polymer Mask: Once per turn during your main phase, if you control a face up "Hero" monster, you can add this card to your hand, from your deck, by sending one polymerization, dark fusion or mask change spell card to the grave yard. This card can be used to fusion summon one "Elemental Hero" fusion monster using materials you control or in your hand as fusion materials. Once per turn while this card is in your GY, (Quick effect), you can banish this card then send one hero monster you control to the GY to summon one "Masked Hero" fusion monster that has the same attribute as that card in the GY. This summon is treat as a fusion summon. This is the kind of support the Elemental Hero archetype needs cause it's my favorite AT, and it needs something that isnt to broken but just border line. The E. Hero just need a push to make it more competitive and excell at going first, even when second is a more advantages start for the E. Hero AT.
Mauricio Hernandez the hard to pull off condition is what makes this card bad. The H E R O cards are so bad anyways. (From what I remember the only one played a decent amount is the H one.) And like you said it’s only used for neos. Basically it’s a waste of 4 cards in your deck space, and nobody likes that.
@@x6173 nah, the H is just a fucking attack boost. It's acc the worst. The E, searches a HERO, R pops backrow per HERO you control and O revives your normal hero monster(usually Neos). To play HERO flash, you're possibly wasting spots in the deck to play these cards, they're decent but you'd rather play something else
Number one only really has application in the mirror match, since it’s the entire field, not just your own. Still not good by any stretch of the imagination, but it in theory has a single use that might happen if E Heroes become the main Meta. Likely? No. Possible? Maybe.
It's also a good counter if your opponent is taking control of lots of your cards, or to combo with creature swap so you can steal something good from your opponent and then take back whatever shitty hero you gave them but ahh... I don't see those happening any time soon either.
Forgot one minor plus on "Hero Medal". Because "Hero Medal" goes into the deck it can, theoretically, be used to keep wasting your opponent's pop effects. Where as Jar of Greed and Yata-Garasu can only be used once. Of course the card still sucks, but I felt it was important to state for accuracy.
It was in the anime. Hero Medal would be better if it let you draw 2 cards. At least then it could be a situationally superior version of Jar of Greed, Legacy of Yatagarasu, and even Reckless Greed.
The point of Hero Medal was that your opponent would pop it once, you shuffled it in and drew another card, and the next time you drew it, they could pop it again for another draw, if they were just constantly popping backrow.
Kuronosa that would never happen unless the opponent was stupid enough to keep destroying it. Apple of Enlightenment is a better bait draw card, at least it’s always a +1 for its own archetype.
The only use for Hero Barrier is because you can activate it outside of the Battle Phase, because it doesn’t say “when an opponents monster declares an attack” or anything like that, so it works against monsters that negate battle traps
I actually used Burst Return sometimes in the WC 2008 game. Bounces your single copy of Stratos. I could see a similar thing happening with Shadow Mist . Not saying it's a good card, but it does have some uses. Also, insert mirror match comment
Burst return is used in combo with the card Burst impact.(when you have elemental hero burstinatrix on the field you can activate this card and destroy every monster on the field except burstinatrix and then the owner of the destroyed monster takes 300 LP) Sorry if my english is bad...

I mean Poison Rose’s affect makes it seem that if you play it early in a duel where everyone is just trying to set up their field with cannon fodder to set up a strategy. You could combine Poison Rose and Elemental Hero Sparkman with his equip card to change battle positions of monsters so forcing an opponents high defense, low attack monster into attack position to be destroyed by Poison Rose causing it to go from 1900 to 2100, and it’ll keep rising from this each time it inflicts battle damage to your opponent making it able to be strong enough at turn 5 to potentially be at around 2800

Hero Barrier doesn't target a monster to negate an attack and can be activated at any point in the turn, rather than at the time of attack, this actually makes it better than cards like Magic Cylinder or Draining Shield in certain situations but still a lot worse than other cards that negate attacks without targeting like Threatening Roar.
Feather Shot can be used in conjunction with Hero Mask to give big Elemental Heroes you control the name of Avian and then attack equal to the number of monsters like he can (and as you say, you can activate it and then get rid of the smaller E Heroes through fusion/link/xyz/synchro/tribute/etc.
Other than that, pretty spot on for how bad the cards are, fun video.
Yo dawg, Burst Return is a linchpin in the HERO mirror match to clear your opponent's field! Just like Ojamusicle! Kek
Finally actually XD

This man just pronounced Burstinatrix worse than anyone that has ever pronounced my name.
The way he pronounced Knospe is way worse
but the way he pronounced it actually makes sense
I'd say he pronounced it better than anyone, because it highlights just how terrible that name is. That is a name that doesn't deserve to be pronounced any better.
@@AlluMan96 Konami with their localisation. Burstinatrix's japanese name is literally "burst lady(barsto redi)" and they decide to change it into burstinatrix for no reason whatsoever
@@blindtreeman8052 Thats the point of localization. It’s not meant to just be a translation of the Japanese name. If it was, we would have pokemon names like “pond turtle”, or “fire salamander”.
You should do a whole list on Bad Archetypes. I'm sure there's lots of gold in that mine.
Rank10ygo already does this, check out his archetype archive and useless archetype series. Has good dry humor too
The name is actual legacy of the worthless, my bad. Archetype archive is any archetype that was used, legacy of the worthless is for terrible archetypes that never had any use
@ULGROTHA Give me an example. Like not being rude but I cant think of an archetype with both a lot of bad cards, but also completely forgotten
@ULGROTHA Touche
Patrick Le Zotte I use to binge watch the shit outta of his Legacy of the worthless videos. They're so entertaining and informative
I'm genuinely amazed that Hero Flash didn't make the list. But man, Anime Jaden just had a lot of stinkers in his deck.
Burst return might have actually been somewhat useful had they made it a quick spell
Neo Bubbleman is a fusion monster in the anime
Y-yeah,for some reason...
Actually, that does make it slightly more viable given that you only have to have bubbleman and metamorphosis to play it, kind of like the two neo-space monsters you can summon with NEX
@@fireblast8972 that's true, but even if they kept it as a fusion monster, who would've honestly used it back then?
The actual Bubbleman is way better
I imagine this list was exponentially more difficult than listing the best HERO cards.
Terra Firma tributes Absolute Zero, wipes field gains attack. apply favourite hero, activate skyscraper. Thats game.
Love the way you say "Burstinatrix"
Feather shot is actually useful if you have a High attack hero monster and hero mask in your hand you can send avian to the graveyard and your fusion monsters name will be avian and then you could attack multiple times.
Add Skyscraper to edge over an ATK barrier too. The support for HEROs still is STRANGE.
0:40 Mare Mare can also be used "up to three time".
So does the Rank 8 Coach Trainer Xyz.
(As a Special Summon, it bypasses most Trap cards that destroy Summoned Monsters)
For Feather shot, use a combo of Skyscraper and Megamorph on Avian to give it 2000-3000 ATK during your Battle phase. Now you have a high-ATK beatstick that can attack as many of your opponent's monsters as you have monsters on your field, AND it'll have 2000 ATK during your opponent's turn.
I’m very surprised that you didn’t mention waking the dragon when talking about alternatives to hero medal.
In a perfect world, poisen rose would just exist on it own, without the knospe and rose bub bs.
Having the exept same text, just without its summon condition of course.
In that case it would actually be a good target for "Favorite Hero"
Imagine an E HERO Bubbleman retrain with the effects of Bubble Shuffle and Bubble Blaster
That instead of the no-hand draw effect would make it a great card!
The Yugioh GX Abridged made a joke about Hero Barrier and Spark Blaster.
Jaden: Not so fast, Bastian. I play Hero's Barrier!
Bastian: (Sarcastically) Oh, what a surprise, a card that can only be played for a certain monster. Was Negate Attack too mainstream for you?
Jaden: Oh, come on! Not all my cards are like that! I summon Elemental Hero Sparkman and-
Bastian: Let me guess. Play Spark Blaster that only works on Sparkman, correct?
Jaden: (holds up Spark Blaster) Yeah, pretty much.
Bastian: You know you could use Block Attack.
Jaden: Shut up!
Do one on Blackwings.
I swear you could make an entire FADE deck out of F tier Blackwings as a gag.
If they invented new versions of the first 5 Heroes from Avian to Bubbleman with similar effects to their spells and traps.. I would have an extra effect in mind and the new names
You could make a top 50 of worst Hero cards
What other archetype has so many cards and still sucks? Not many
Roids, batteryman, ally of justice, but i get your point lol
Also Ice Barrier, oh god ice barrier
Roids suck, Batteryman aged... okay, Ally of justice has a few decent cards while the rest are a disappointment, Ice Barrier could do a gimmicky lockdown so that's cool... still sucks.
Performapals... They have some good ones... Buuuut the majority is bad.
@@TheBBbandit these archetype don't have 1/3 of hero cards
I wonder what Jaden thought when he Saw this video
The card at number 1 actually has the potential to become useful... if in the future a card with the effect to change the names of monsters you control gets released, then you could potentially have Exodia pieces on the board or something, change their names to elemental heros, and use that card to return them to your hand to win...
But I really doubt this card will ever be used for that 😟
Drugs are a wonderful thing enabling you to come up with that

Hero Mask
I think at the time Burst Return was meant as a mirror match card, as it also got rid of the opponent's E-HEROs...
I don't think Hero Medal is part of the HERO archetype though.
I think it was part of their second set
It is since it has "Hero" in its name except the card effect says otherwise (but who wants to play that 🤣🤣🤣)
@@jofx4051 It has "Hero" in the name, but it doesn't have "HERO" in the name.
It doesn’t mention HERO in its name or it’s effect, it specifically has to be all caps, I believe the one card that’s a confirmed part of the Archetype that breaks this rule is H - Heated Heart, but since HERO FLASH!! mentions it, it’s a part of the Archetype, Hero Medal is not
Feather shot can Be randomly comboéd with Hero mask in order to make a good hero fussion monster name "elemental hero avian and Kind of make an all out attack

Ha! Suck it, Judai/Jaden. Not a single Destiny HERO, Vision HERO or Masked HERO card made this list.

Are there any bad Evil HERO cards?
@@x6173 Good point, I completely forgot about Evil HEROes. Yes, some of the first Evil HEROes weren't that impressive esp since the fusion monsters could only be summoned through a specific spell card "Dark Fusion" which wasn't searchable without predaplants................. Until the latest support just came back and Evil HEROes look not half-bad now.
Sebarsh Thumbadoo Dark Calling was an alt for Dark Fusion right? That certainly made them better
So glad you did this list, I used Hero Negate card in duel links bc I don’t have the other good trap cards but now I’ll take it out of my deck
1:31 "a card with 800 *defense*" Just pointing it out, don't mean any harm.
Terra Firma Gravity was _nerfed_ significantly from the manga. There was no option to just not attack there, they HAD to crash into Terra Firma.
I think it be cool to see a top 10 Unique Archetypes. Decks that have cool ways to play the game even if they sucked or no one decided not to try and play them
This would be a way to talk about RaidRaptors and some others that don't often get discussed.
After reading Burst return, it actually has a specific situation where the effect is good. In the mirror match, if your opponent has a lot of elemental hero monsters, it'll return all other elemental heroes besides burstinatrix. So if your opponent has a field full of elemental heroes, they get sent to the hand.
Or if your field has searcher and special summoning cards on it like solid and liquid soldiers, and stratos
Burst Return seems to be meant to be used in a mirror match... Jeez...
Waste of great artwork.
Oh my lord.
I'm having a heart attack from how you are pronouncing these name.
Elemental HERO Nopes
Elemental HERO Avien
Elemental HERO Burstenatrix
Suppose if your opponent had a few 1900 or less monsters you could use avian with skyscrapers and feather shot so…
Burst Return in the side for mirror matches, 13 years ago
I remember it only showing up in Jaden's duel verses Blair, where she kept stealing his heroes and he couldn't make a play
So... Back in the good old synchro days, I actually ran a neos/hero fusion deck that ran 3 knospe. The whole idea was to whip out a neos fusion and a knospe or 2 to keep the damage packing on while keeping any powerful monsters at bay, main tactic was flare neos.
If you have two knospe your opponent can't attack right?
Very true but they literally have no additional protection, I ran only a few traps but none covered them if effects were negated.
Ngl I play burst return as burst impact for causal duels lol
The spicefic hero cards you can use them with strong monsters with a card called hero mask
When you asked if we knew archetypes, did you remember that Blackwings existed?
Polymer Mask:
Once per turn during your main phase, if you control a face up "Hero" monster, you can add this card to your hand, from your deck, by sending one polymerization, dark fusion or mask change spell card to the grave yard.
Hero AT.
I was expecting HERO Flash to be on this list.
James Hoang definitely it’s by far the worst HERO card ever
This. No way Burst Return is worse than HERO Flash
Yugi: I makes situational rules up as I go
Judai: I make situational cards up as I go
Yusei: Can you at least try to play goodish decks?
Mare Mare and Giant Coach also have trice per turn effects.
Was looking for this exact comment. Thank you
Clay charge is non targeting destruction.... that's its ONLY upside.... its gimmicky but it does TECHNICALLY work.
Technically, Hero Medal isn't even a "HERO" card
I actually love that you specifically say the names of certain cards wrong, like Knospe and Burstinatrix.
Wow using the uncensored japanse version burstinatrix, too lewd for me
You should also mention Poison Rose in thumbnail too
Pretty sure using that uncensored artwork is gonna get this video demonetized eventually.
The only use for Hero Barrier is because you can activate it outside of the Battle Phase, because it doesn’t say “when an opponents monster declares an attack” or anything like that, so it works against monsters that negate battle traps
Still hoping for a remake of the Elemental Heroes archetype that will never come
I actually used Burst Return sometimes in the WC 2008 game. Bounces your single copy of Stratos. I could see a similar thing happening with Shadow Mist . Not saying it's a good card, but it does have some uses.
Also, insert mirror match comment
RIP my favorite archetype
Burst return is used in combo with the card Burst impact.(when you have elemental hero burstinatrix on the field you can activate this card and destroy every monster on the field except burstinatrix and then the owner of the destroyed monster takes 300 LP)
Sorry if my english is bad...
I bet a lot of elemental heroes will be on this list.

I mean Poison Rose’s affect makes it seem that if you play it early in a duel where everyone is just trying to set up their field with cannon fodder to set up a strategy. You could combine Poison Rose and Elemental Hero Sparkman with his equip card to change battle positions of monsters so forcing an opponents high defense, low attack monster into attack position to be destroyed by Poison Rose causing it to go from 1900 to 2100, and it’ll keep rising from this each time it inflicts battle damage to your opponent making it able to be strong enough at turn 5 to potentially be at around 2800
a lot of these cards are from the earliest days of HERO decks
