Hi , I can I be a pain and ask I’ve a kz1100 that is in need of a new rocker cover gasket , is it enough too remove the cap and cross wedge plunger and screw to realease the tension on the chain without unbolting the body ?, great vid by the way thank you
Hi, if it is just the rocker cover gasket that you need to change there is no need to release the camchain tensioner at all. You should be able to loosen the small bolts that hold the rocker cover and lift it off without having to touch any significant engine parts. You'll need to remove the petrol tank, but that's about it, I should think. But...I have never worked on a KZ1100. If the layout is the same as you see in my videos it should be pretty simple. Yes the engine looks very similar , thank you for the reply , the manual says to remove the cap but I’m nervous about it , I think the chain guide is in the top of the cover , I did read somewhere the chain can become too tight and over adjust itself if not slackened off , but then I’ve had yourself and others including my usual mechanic say that that’s not true , I will take a look at some more of your vids and see what’s what’s , cheers steve 👍
