I prefer Chelsea boots to have a more sleek, slightly dressy look compared to a rugged Chelsea. I think the Cavalier gives the best version of a Chelsea. Not TOO dressy but definitely not rugged.

I've recently ordered my first two pairs of Thursday Boots! Got the Cavalier Sequoia Buffalo and Vanguard French Roast on the way! So excited to try them on and make a video!

As a Mexican, i've visited some places in Guadalajara and other states where small businesess manufacture dress shoes and boots and I can guarantee anyone that those are really high quality

Ha ha love it, saw the cavaliers a month ago and picked them up in pebble brown and black leather. Definitely toward dress boots easily paired with a suit. Love the minimal design. Fit is perfect for me at 10, same size as my three chukkas... Also from Thursday. Might get a suede pair to round out the set.

Its not a bad boot, but I wish I could have the best of both combined. The gusset pattern is better on the Duke in my opinion, but the leather accent around it makes it look even chunkier than it actually is. The actual profile of the Cavalier is better in my opinion, but I dislike the slanted angle of the shaft. I also dislike the white stitching on the Duke. Cavalier profile, the Duke shaft with the better posture, and Duke gusset pattern (without the leather accent) would be awesome, especially with a little extra height to the boot, so it looks better while sitting down.
So Duke is more casual and Cavalier more formal?? I like the Cavalier more than the Duke but would they look good if I wear them casual with jeans or should I go with the Duke.
You won’t miss it. I have the Cavalier and gave my brother the Duke. The pull tabs constantly caught the helms of my pants. I cut them off on all my boots.
I ordered a pair of the Dukes due to all of the positive press they have been receiving online, and they just arrived today. They are beautiful boots, and they appear to be very well made. Unfortunately, they are not for me. I got them in an 11 Wide, & they are actually slipping at the heel, but too narrow at the front of my foot. It's also a shame that out of all of the TH-cam videos I've seen, not a single one mentioned that the insole is not removable. I actually have prescription orthotics I will not be able to put into the boot. They are certainly fine looking boots, I just wish they made a wider size, & had a removable insole.
I just bought a pair of cavilers and got a half size down from my normal size and they aren’t tight but aren’t big. Should I return them for a whole size down from my normal sneaker or should I keep the ones I have now that are only a half size smaller?
I have the chukka from Thursday boots but unfortunately even with conditioning the leather looks really bad with scuffs and scratches after wearing it for few times. I am not sure if thats the case with everyone or is it just mine
@Fouad AL Hatian - Did you try using a leather polish? Naturally, the leather will crease and with wear you may get scuffs and scratches. I'm a weird boot size. Usually somewhere between 9 and 9.5 and I've found I love the laceup Thursday boots, but I've tried 3 pairs of Thursday chelseas and none of them fit. 9 and a 9.5 in the Duke and a 9 in the kavalier and none of them fit right. The closet fit for me was the 9 Duke, but it was too tight and pinching my big toes. I love boots, and I love Thursday but I just can't wear their chelseas unfortunately. :(+8
I've got them and for me the fit is excellent. The upper is soft but firm and flexes readily around the foot. I haven't worn them yet but expect all day wearing with no discomfort from day 1. As John mentioned, the fit is slightly more snug when compared to the same size in their chukka boots but it's actually a pleasing snug. The soles are actually a combination of leather and rubber recessed lugs. Rather unique... As I'd expect traction to be between full leather bottoms and rubber bottoms.

Really want a pair of the cavalier. I have a pair if the Scout boots, and two pairs of the executive shoes. My wife has two pairs of their boots also. Problem for me is that I already have a pair of dark grey suede chelsea boots from Johnston Murphy. Very comfortable boots though Update: still no Cavalier boots…LOL. I do have another scout in the lineup. I had ordered a duke preowned, although basically new, but the size was incorrect from what I was told. Unfortunately those couldn’t stay. Looking to grab either the grey cavalier or a dark brown duke soon.

Every time you talk about boots I think of that pair of boots I saw on a website you suggested, and damn if I remember the name of that site. They were a 6" boot , brown, and had that wing tip design on it, but only slight. That probably doesn't make sense, but I'd love to look at those again. Ugh. The Duke was one of the ugliest boots I've ever seen. I ordered a normal size 12 and it looked like a giant rain boot. No last shape, no elegance, just a gigantic blob of a shoe. Easy return for me

Exactly. I ordered the duke in 9.5 and it looks big, wide and bulky compared to my cavalier 9.5. I don’t know if they sent me a wide 9.5 duke instead of a standers 9.5 but I am returning these bulky things!

I like that they ditched the leather strip around the elastic panel. Looks much better now imo.
I agree. That leather strip does not age well as the boot is worn more. It ends up looking a bit ragged.

I have the cavaliers in black leather. I highly recommend going for the suede. The leather creases very easily and it's very visible.

I would say the Duke is more casual because of the contrast stitching and the rubber sole.
