I have a pair of Thursday boots. “The president” boots. I filled them with socks to break them in a few days before spending a week in Paris (20k+ steps per day) and they were great. Comfortable and good quality. Just bought another pair today.
Thanks Nick your recent videos have been a godsend with Christmas around the corner. I was having trouble on deciding which Thursday Chelsea to get and my son was trying to decide which Huckberry waxed jacket to get. You helped make the decisions much easier. The random pistol squat keeps the videos interesting.
Thursday boots are really good for the price period. There are certainly better boots out there but what Thursday's offer for the price cannot be overlooked in anyway.
Agreed. They are great for the price. Also, if I want a new boot to wear immediately they work great as there is literally no break-in period with them.
@@nickabraham6981 I would say there's at least SOME break in period for their higher end boots like the Vanguard, if not in the sole then certainly in the leather.
I have three pairs. I had an old pair of QUALITY Black Banana Republic Chelsea boots from 2007 that they don't even make anymore. I came across Thursday's Chelsea and it was a wrap. Great value and very stylish.
I haven't even watched the video yet, but I love these boots. I never thought I'd want a chelsea boot, but after warming up to the idea, this was my first pair. I got the shadow grey, and they're so cool and comfortable. Would definitely recommend :)
Yeah when I first saw Chelsea boots I wasn't much of a fan but I've definitely came around on them and think they look pretty good now. My only worry is getting the right size; they need to be pretty snug fitting for me, I feel like without laces it could be loose and like my heel would rise up out of the boot when I walk. But I think Thursday's returns are pretty painless so should be able to exchange to find the right size if necessary.
@@clamum9648 Yes absolutely. One of the best things about Thursday's is their amazing customer service. I bought boots from another company and got stuck with the wrong size and it was a whole ordeal lol. I also accidentally ordered a size up in my Cavalier's, and although they feel kind of loose, there's no fear of them falling off my foot and they're actually really comfy. Just my experience :)
@@nicks490 My experience was very positive as well though it wasn't for an exchange, Mine was the boots started delaminating at the fronts after just wearing them a half dozen times, maybe less. Returned them, got money back, and they gave me a $200 credit on top of it. Couple years later used that credit to get a new free pair of boots that I now totally love (the Harness brown ones). I was impressed by their service so would think exchanges would be pretty good. 👍
Yes, Chelseas’ fit is a nightmare. You feel they’re loose (in general) but I’ve found that I like to wear shoes looser than tighter anyway. It’s the only downside of Chelseas I can think of
I got a pair for Christmas, in my usual size, but surprisingly I found they were too small. I exchanged them for a half size up, they get here tomorrow, hoping for a better fit. I think it might be because of the lower profile. I have narrow feet but very high arches.
I got mine, worn once, shadow gray off Merceri for $95. I’m very pleased with my first pair of Chelsea’s. Yes they are an entry level boot but I only wear mine twice a month maybe so they should last me a while. Btw I own Whites and Redwing usually, and looking forward to ordering a pair of Nicks I hope. For the money I don’t think Thursday can be beat. Just wish it came with leather midsole instead of the poron but I also understand that it’s for immediate comfort whereas I like to have a boot breaking in to my feet for that custom fit.
been watching some of your videos on thursday boots and i gotta say you sell the shit out of them! you’ve helped me decide thank you! videos are fantastic
Reminds me of the Bitflex from Astorflex made in Italy, but have a crepe sole. They are definitely a classy pair of boots and very comfy for me personally. These look pointy in a way that doesn't work for me and the outsole is obviosly diffirent... I think crepe can be dressy so long as it's maintained properly.
Love my cavaliers just wish I had gone up half a size I only have like 5ish days in so hope they stretch a bit. Got them for a wedding and they looked spot on with a slim fitting suit
I like Thursdays and even recommend then to friends getting into boots. The only thing I don't like anymore is the insole and midsole. My Thursday President's insole wore through the sock liner and the foam underneath it in two years when I already rotate the boots. They midsole and foam on the insole doesn't breathe that well. Other than that, they're good boots. I like their lasts and would happily pay a bit more if they used full leather insoles and leather/leather board midsoles.
For people in Europe, I will give a shout-out to the Meermin wholecut Chelsea. I got a pair in Waxy Commander Suede with a commando sole, with a veg tan leather insole, and they are slightly cheaper than buying Thursdays...and super comfortable (although a more challenging break in than any Thursdays I own). That said, I don't own any boots more comfortable than my Captains.
I have the Shadow Grey Caviler and really like em, I just wish the opening was a little slimmer. I also have the Duke in the honey suede and the black pair. I like how those hug my ankle better. My jeans don't seem to fit as well over the wider opening of the Caviler. Good video though.
Love my cavaliers. I know the answer is who cares, but I sized mine with thin dress socks and wonder if I should have sized them with a thicker boot sock lol.
Maybe this is just an issue that I had. I had a pair of Cavaliers from 2020 and the ankle was far too loose. I couldn’t stop my heel from getting blisters despite my foot fitting the shoe width-wise
Good video, Nick! I agree with you on just about everything there. I bought a pair of Cavaliers a few years ago when they released. Grey suede option. My size was actually incorrect as well from the rest of my usual size in Thursday. It was about half a size too big. I wonder if that last was the same throughout up until the change you’re mentioning? I never did end up wearing my pair on more than a few occasions, and they became a part of my brother’s closet after about a year. I honestly didn’t like the shape & fit. My ankles are fairly narrow. Jodhpurs are more my thing w/ a taller shaft now! Nice work :-)
Hi Nick - terrific video review. A few years ago when I discovered Thursday Boots i wanted a pair of Chelsea boots and ordered the Dukes. I had to exchange them 3 times for size. Then a salesperson suggested i try the Cavaliers (don't know why it took them 3 exchanges to figure that out) and i ended up purchasing two pair. The Shadow Grey suede and the dark brown suede. I think they are terrific. I wear a 7 1/2 in sneakers and a 7 fit perfectly in the Cavaliers...I'm heading to London and Paris in December and was thinking about taking a pair of the cavaliers with me but because of the amount of rain at that time of year i decided maybe it wasn't a good idea so i decided to get a pair of the Cadet. I have never owned a lace up boot before. I got the Rich Mahogany leather and the front of the boot hits my ankle and is rather painful. The company said it will loosen up but i don't know how long i would need to break them in before i am without discomfort. They suggested some creams or even go to a cobbler to have them stretched but after spending 200 i'd rather not h ave to take them to a cobbler and if i do i might not be able to return them. So i'm wandering my apartment for a couple hours seeing if that will do the trick. Anyway, I have a feeling that i will exchange them for a leather Cavalier in the Rich Mahogany. I will be wearing these a lot i think while i'm in Europe (I also have a dress event one night and didn't want to take too many pairs of footwear. My question is do you think I will experience the same issue with the top of the Cavaliers in leather causing the same discomfort as the Cadets? Sorry for the novela. I just want to make sure i'm making the correct choice for my trip abroad.
