- It's here: Another new NERF ammo type in just a few short years, and this time it's going BIG. MEGA XL is a larger, heftier dart the original NERF MEGA and features a brand new line of blasters to fire them. The MEGAL XL BOOMDOZER is the largest blaster in the line, featuring pump-action and 6 rounds with slamfire. The question of the day, of course, is whether or not they're actually any good or not.

It's like what the Nerf Fortnite GL was supposed to be, but the darts are still smaller then demolisher rockets. Plus we've never had a springer demolisher rocket launcher, we've only had HAMPs. Which fire differently.

@@Ludvig377 high airflow manual plunger, it's the system the Demolisher, Tri Strike Stock, Thunderblast, Fortnite GL and RL use to fire an "Elite Missile" but we call them demolisher rockets or missiles
@@Ludvig377 to actually explain what it is, those Demolisher rocket launchers where you just push forward, then slam down a pump grip to fire it. The manual plunger ones.

..... Why am I seeing a new drum for this that fires mass loads of half darts. With that things plunger those would have some range id imagine.
A belt could work, but that might need a little more work to get the alignment and indexer right.
Probably because there's already a mod for it to shotgun elite darts (and half darts).

I love how massive and fun this looks, having a large dart launcher that isn’t a hamp and has multiple shots seems really useful. To start with I thought that the darts would be at least the size of demolisher rockets but I’m not really disappointed as it IS STILL SO COOL! Thanks so much for making this review Walcom, I was waiting for you to make one before I watched any other CL reviews! 💜🧡💙

I'm a casual foam flinger. I have lost countless elite, rival and half dart rounds. Not mega! Never loose another round again! Also love the molded XL logo on both sides. Thanks Nerf! Also put a modulus stock and tactacool scope!

@@RiverWilliamson mine was one of those "cool uncle gifts" thay got taken away. My psychopath mother thought toy guns would get me into a gang. She also thought using the word gang (like in Scooby Doo) would do the same. Hence why I'm 34, and a good 1/3 of my possessions are foam fingers lmao.
With the dawn of Mega XL, the next logical step is obviously for Hasbro to finally fulfill my dream of a magazine-fed demolisher rocket blaster.

When i was younger like in 2016 or so I thought it would be a good idea to make a Nerf series shooting just the rockets and they would call it ultra. There is no such series and Ultra is a cash grab. What a time to be dead.

While I was the prime age for Nerf back in the 90s, I SO wish this line was available back then - My 10 year old self would feel like such a bad MOFO walking around with that giant cannon. The price makes it a little too expensive for a gimmick blaster in my book, but every kid is going to feel powerful with that beast.
I want a boom dozer so bad been searching google constantly. this video has cemented my resolve. It looks better than I thought. And that 3 round arced burst shows its true potential in stock form. rapid fire 6 huge grenades in a pretty tight box at that range. that seems like a winner.

I absolutely adore this blaster. I NEED one. The darts are basically the Nerf equivalent of the 950 JDJ, AND you can turn it into a shotgun if you want to.

These are so stupidly impractical but I love them already. just the thunk and whistle from it is perfect.
Maybe nerf events will have to make this the new super zombie killer and demolisher/titan rockets do AOE damage or something.

This is exactly what I was expecting a future, grenade launching master-key.
This thing is going to be a blast to break out against my young nephews and just wallop them with huge darts. The whistle will just add to the laughs! Plus the low velocity and large dart means no painful eye shots that ruin play time. We can't forget that Hasbro is a toy company first, and this looks like a very fun toy!

I think it would be really cool to use these darts in a custom G36 grenade launcher. Like a more reasonably sized Fortnite GL but with a trigger.
"I'm the demo-man, and this is my weapon." I know it's a modified phrase from Heavy of TF2, but damn this is firing blue neat BFGrenades and I love it I want this, the Big Rig as a underbarrel grenade launcher or the Doublecrusher as a nitroexpress type of rifle.

Walcom can you try firing these darts off a Big bad bow? Want to know how well they work and how far they go. Need more ammo for one of my favorite blasters BUT I only have 2 arrows and they are both in need of replacing

Funny you mention the whole shotgun cylinder thing. I've been working on that over the last couple weeks. got it working real nice now. got versions for 5 half darts per shot, 5 full lengths per shot, or 3 megas per shot. If you'd like I'll send a couple to you (or you can print them yourself from the thingiverse page if you'd like). Also working on getting it to be able to swap cylinders on the fly currently.

I think instead of trying to squish it down between demo rockets and mega it makes more sense to just bump demo rockets up to do something even more substantial. Especially since hitting anything with them is often a feat in itself.

@@benjaminlanders7314 That's a very interesting take on my idea, I was thinking maybe it could be either a 6 elite barrel or 3 mega barrel
I actually developed a shotgun cylinder for it already. 3 versions in fact. one that shoots 5 half darts per shot, one that shoots 5 full lengths per shot, and one that fires 3 mega darts per shot.

Is the hole in the XL dart the same size as the demolisher rocket and can you stick the blue sausage around a rocket peg?
It is slightly larger so it does not seal very well on a demolisher post. A little tape or heatshrink fixes that if that suits your purpose.
This just looks IMMENSELY fun. (Psssst, it's not the largest dart ever, as there used to be that stupidly long thick yellow one that came on that 90s bow style one).
They have gone down in price. Picked one up for $30 CAD on Amazon. Can't wait till it comes. Not the most practical and competitive but with my Nerf club most people will want to play casually so this is perfect. Its so ridiculous, I love it.

I like the concept of a decently accurate grenade launcher, perhaps ruled with some kind of aoe stun effect around a the hit target for zombie games?

The Boom Dozer is only $40 usd, not 60
I can use Google too. The problem is the Big Rig is $29.95, and it makes no sense for the far more complicated boomdozer to only be $41.99, so something is messed up somewhere. Could be wrong, my receipt says they are $30 with a $20 discount but the total price for 4 of them wound up being $132, which is under $40 per. None of the math adds up, so I gave up.
@@WalcomS7 no ill will dude I just wanted to set the record straight. The original leaks have shown since like February that the big rig is $20 usd and the Boom Dozer is $40 usd. Since mega xl has only been spotted in Canada I would assume your recipient is in Canadian dollars
@@travisshea9809 I'm not in Canada though. That's why I'm so confused, I even mention it in the video I can't seem to figure out what the cost of this thing actually is. There wasn't a spot in the store for it, it was just on a shelf. It's a clusterfuck. I asked Lucha and he said it's supposed to be around 60, which while high seems like Hasbro prices to me.

I just got in to the nerf hobby this year and considering the 2nd largest ammo is coming out soon I think this could add an interesting twist to my future nerf wars.
I wonder how comparable to a k26 the spring it has is. but damn, the fact its able to shoot these MEGASXL darts pretty decently is quite an accomplishment. I wonder if we'll see a rebarrel mod, like the ones for the cycloneshock and the rotofury where you simply insert new barrels into the old ones.
Could easily see this as a secondary for an ultra-heavy blaster loadout (not ultra darts, ultra-heavy!), using it to bust shields with relative ease.
As far as shield busting, If the rocket perma disables shield, and the mega dart just pierces it, The MEGASXL dart should disable it for 2 respawns (if thats possible).

Rechamber it in elite and you will get about 100 feet the amount of air coming through the plunger is enough to push that dart imagine what it can do to a normal elite dart
I just realized that you can fit an elite dart, inside a mega dart, inside a mega XL dart
Half Dart: Pistol Rounds
Regular Dart: Rifle Rounds
Mega Dart: Shotgun Rounds
Mega XL Dart: Explosive Rounds
I feel like mega is more like .50 bmg and mega xl is like 20mm.

Thats a Nerf Grenade Launcher. It has the shape and the ammo is spot on grenades.
Can help but feel like this would be an excellent shotgun platform once the blaster gets chamber conversions to elite darts.
