Same here, Momma made our Christmases so special. Her 2 sons-in-law said they'd never experienced Christmas before spending it with our family. Momma had a way to make anyone feel welcomed & special. My sister & I miss her every day but more so around Holidays because she made them all wonderful for her girls. She had so many ways to let her girls know she loved us.
I remember my dad making this, and he was the last one at his job to be doing everything by hand. The candy company he worked at was transitioning to machines and automation at the time he had to go into early retirement (he had already been diagnosed with ALS about 6 months before that andhe was struggling to do the job due to his illness) they retired his copper kettle andhad a plaque on the wall for him for awhile, dont know if it's still there since the company was sold
True artisan craftswoman-craftsmenship. Love the slow motion. My grandfather was a butter maker and that was a science and an art he learned in Denmark before 1920. He ran a creamery in northern Minnesota and made butter for Land O’ Lakes.
Ribbon candy was always my Dads favorite at Christmas time. He always brought some home with nuts and fruit God rest his soul. Now it’s a favorite of my whole family! Great watching to see how it’s made. With TLC. ♥️ Thank you and Merry Christmas to y’all. 🎄🎁👏
GREAT shots Craig. The slow mow was really good to see how each hand does something different. It happens so fast that it looks easy, but when someone else does it.. you can tell the experience gap between Terry and them.
@@FionasNonna I am more Swiss-German in background (father's side from Zurich), so more familiar with German pfeffernusse. But Italian anise cookies sound divine! I already love making biscotti. 😁
@@FionasNonna That much I knew...but remembering what it does for candy is a bit different for me because I really don't make candy. I am more of a muffin and cake gal. 😅
What beautiful work. The sights and sounds were so satisfying! 🍬 I’d probably think about getting a shrink wrap machine, we had one when I worked at Blockbuster 😂 in college and you could wrap a whole lot more boxes in a short time. It seals the edges of the wrap so you don’t need to tape or cut.
That's why there are ppl like me around. I love anise/licorice. I dislike candy corn. So I will willingly trade any candy corn for anything licorice. 😅😁 (Dang, that almost sounds like some canon/lore for a "dystopian future" video game. 😅)
@@MdnightWnd Fr! I was that kid in class who'd tell the others that didn't like the black jelly beans or gum drops in their candy bags to give those to me and I would give them what I didn't like. For me, mixing the black gum drops with the orange ones tasted sooo good! 😅 That said, of all the holiday candy out there, the old-school "divinity" is so not my favorite. At. All. It's more of a texture thing than flavor.
Cream of Tartar stops the sugar crystalizing. I'm in the UK and we don't have ribbon candy here, which is a shame as I would love to try it. Especially the Wintergreen one. That is a flavour we don't get here, and I love it. When my parents went out to the States to visit family, my mum brought back lots of packets of lifesavers.
Found this channel thanks to the algorithm, so adding a comment to feed the algorithm. I've been watching... think it's called Rock Roll? channel on making round candies often with pattern insdie. So it was interesting to see the different method to create ribbon candy. ...and liked the slow-mo of the fingers 'walking' the candy into ribbons.
😋I just ordered some cashew bark and cashew clusters. I just know they are going to be absolutely delicious !! Thank you Hercules team for all your hard work. 🙃
Genuine question: why is the flavoring added at such a high temp? I’d think it would burn off, but obviously that’s not the case. Still, why NOT add it later like the food dye?
I just found out why your company name seemed so familiar- E. Syracuse! I studied at SU and student taught in E. Syracuse-Minoa. My first teaching job was also in E. Syracuse (though it was only a year).
I was watching the video and it was stated if you want to come to our store to try pur candy you have to come to Suracuse , NY well hell thats clear across the U.S and im from The State of Washington U.S.A.

how is it practical to make such fragile candies? I mean, don't get me wrong: they are BEAUTIFUL to look at. GORGEOUS. but if they are so fragile, why even bother? is there something so uniquely different and so much more amazing about the ribbon candy eating experience that only comes with the ribbon candy eating experience that one cannot also derive from drop candy eating? isn't it going to be a big ol mess anyway?? I'm asking in all sincerity. talk to me about this.
Like a flavor that would be a good addition to hot chocolate along with vanilla or chocolate. I was thinking of those that eat ribbon candy while they drink unsweetened hot tea
What is The Season Without Ribbon Candy? It Seems it Makes it MORE Fun! I went to Order some but sadly. it says it SOLD OUT. This Completes my ruff day.. : ( Maybe next time....
I love watching the candy making process. It's very relaxing. But on some of them, the guy who is taking the videos talks too much and asks some silly questions. It's annoying if you ask me (and I know you didn't ask me).

My Mom loved the thin ribbon candy. I sure miss her, especially at Christmas. She always made Christmas special.
I’m sorry for your loss. God bless

Absolutely love the sound of the ribbon being pleated!🤤
Now I understand why it can be expensive..... Lot of work a lot of detail... A lot of precision... I love old fashioned candy..❤
Wonderful job everyone. Ribbon candy reminds me of Christmas and my grandmother!
Yo Terry has skills that difference in speed was wild.

Cream of tartar prevents the sugar from crystalizing. Makes the candy smooth.
It also stabilizes egg whites for the best meringue!

A lot of love went into the packaging and the candy.
Thanks for the slow-mo shot of the twisting! Super cool
I just bought a box of chocolate! Is it possible to show it being packaged?
It is so pretty! I wish that glass ones could be made for window charms!
Oh, this candy **looks** like Christmas! My teeth can't deal with hard candy on its own, so I'd be dissolving it into cocoa. 😅

The green and white ribbon candy is too pretty to eat.

Cream of tartar helps prevent bigger sugar crystals from forming keeping the candy smoother
Looks like a fun place to work😊
I love licorice
I love the Black and the strawberry
Do you all make the licorice whips?

Wow she’s good!
what a sick Sunn shirt
Cream of Tartar would make it crispy.
Does the sticker have to go on the front of the box ?😢 the packaging is so beautiful then, the sticker.

How much per box? It's neat seeing all the labor hours that feed into each product - thanks for uploading.
Hi there! First time watcher 😀 why is the corn syrup in balls?
Looks like the blob!
you go mom, so beautiful.
I wanna know how they clean their dishes and tools
What does cream of tartar do?? My mother always had it in the cabinet.
Helps to prevent crystallization
How much does production increase around the holiday season? (mainly Thanksgiving/christmas)
cream of tartar keeps them from breaking!!
What are the different flavors in the box?
The cream of tarter will make it foam.
I'd be way to tempted to write "DO NOT EAT" on the packaging ribbon. Partly as a joke, but also partly serious...
They can ship ribbon candy. It's just you don't package the candy the right way for shipping
Cream of tartar keeps the candy cane from breaking or cracking
Also how do you know when to knock the candy off the hook? Thanks

The cream of tartar makes it so the candy doesn't stick as much on the hook I thought?

want to try but i live in Hong Kong 😢

you must charge $100/box! 😮😮
25:45 instead of hiding the smaller piece how abt you just put in one that’s not half the size of the rest to the point of needing to hide it
Keeps it from sticking
Only bad thing about this videos is that u cant taste the candy😭😭😭
I’d love to work there and I’d even do it for free

Cream of tartar is for dipping fried fish in.
