Acer is garbage, the pc motherboard breaks every 3 months and the repair service will screw the pc even more which will break again right after the warranty and they will ask a repair price that cost more than the pc itself to repair. NEVER PURCHASE ACER = SCAM
Andrew, thanks for another nice review and getting your hands on this for a preview so quickly. I have owned a number of Acer laptops and this one looks quite impressive so far. My favorite form factor was the Acer Swift 7 52T series which was super thin, super light with a very nice display but was underpowered with and Intel 8th gen i7 8500Y processor. If this new Acer Swift Edge has an aggressive processor performance with higher wattage and limited throttling, it could be a real winner. I have also been impressed with the most recent HP Aero 13; however, they limited the processor too much for thermal purposes and neutered its performance. You asked for feedback on audio and video -- the audio sounded decent but a bit muffled and the webcam video quality was quite good; better than many of the laptops that still have 720p. Another concern is the Gen 4 SSD performance you flashed on the screen twice. If I read it correctly, it was on the lower end of Gen 4 SSDs that I have seen. Would want to see something in the 6,000-7,000 range for reads and writes. One other comment. Why no touch screen? Is it really that expensive to include or is it a more complex implementation with the OLED screen. As far as the price, I think $1499 is a bit steep for this configuration. I would like to see $1199 or $1299. Looking forward to your full review of the Acer Swift Edge soon.
From what I see so far, I'm loving how thin and light the Acer Swift Edge (2022) laptop is. The quality of the 1080p webcam is nice and crisp. The internal mic quality is also nice and clear. What really brings this product over the edge is that for $1499.99 you get a 4K OLED display that simply looks gorgeous! Other noteworthy points are the upgradeable SSD and wifi card. We will certainly know more once Andrew puts this baby through its paces so stay tuned everybody!! Brilliant video once again Andrew!!! 👏 😁
Can you please run latency mon on it and tell the result ? I am just wondering if this is worth waiting for as a Real Time Audio device. Thank You in advance.

Nooo!! Almost the perfect laptop except for the 60hz screen, at least 90hz is a must have in 2022 for a "pro" model like this... Excellent unboxing as usual Mr. Andrew!!
Looks pretty interesting....a big question for me would be battery life. 54wh is a tiny battery for a 16" laptop with an OLED screen. Acer claims 7 hours of battery life. Yikes. When a vendor claims 7hr that means 2-3hrs in normal use. And I'm not a fan of glossy displays and OLED's are kryptonite for battery life. Acer was so close to designing a really compelling laptop with the Swift Edge with it's super light weight and good port selection (including USB-4 ports) and the use of the AMD 6800u chipset. BUT they came up short for my needs by: * Not offering a SD card slot (micro would have been fine for me). The LG Gram 16 has a microSD card slot. * Only offering a 4K OLED display panel that chews up battery life like there's no tomorrow (resulting in poor to middling 7hr battery life) * And giving this 16" laptop a 54 watt battery...WTH..no....WTF! It should have been 70wh battery at minimum...especially with a OLED screen. If the LG Gram can fit in a 80wh battery in their 16 Gram laptop then certainly Acer could have done it. Argh! Acer could have "Aced it"...they could have given themselves the "Edge" in 16" laptops with the Swift Edge but they blew it IMHO. The things I noted as shortcoming are not huge asks. Yes a 70/80wh battery would have been more expensive then the anemic 54wh battery they went with but a 2K matte display would have been considerably cheaper than a 4K OLED screen and as an combo these two offerings would have given the Edge a MUCH better battery life......And I would have gladly have paid the same price for that combo to get the better battery life. And how much does a simple SD card reader cost, really? All these shortcomings all seem perfectly doable with this platform and they likely could have been offered at the same price point while allowing Acer to maintain the same Profit Margin and COGS. It's frustrating to see these PC manufacturers get so close and then blow it with some of their choices. It just feels like they don't get it (e.g. 54wh battery giving you 7 hours of battery life????). Yes people really do want laptops with good battery life (10+ hours), good performance, that are light weight and have a decent port selection and a reasonably large bright screen (that can be used in brighter lighting conditions). Acer and LG have both proven that it can be done but both have made some mistakes in their choices. So I'm left still searching for my ideal laptop. If the Acer Swift Edge and the LG 16 Gram had a baby I'd have a laptop that I'd be excited to purchase. Oh well...there is always next year. Cheers!
2k display with larger battery... they can take my money! a 4k oled display is really overkill and does nothing except drain the battery... if their target audience is content creators (hence the 4k oled display) then they are mistaken because content creators usually would need dGPUs.. acer needs to know their target audience.. people who want a thin and light laptop usually don't want to have to keep charging it.
There's a massive difference between a 4k and 2k screen lol, the 4k oled display is probably the main reason people will buy this despite lesser battery life
Nice PC. Camera looks good. Mics are good and clear but sounded slightly a little flat. Good port selection although I agree an SD card slot would have been nice. Upgradeability is good and 16 gig of ram will probably be sufficient for most users. Great "First Look" review.
Hey Andrew, thank you very much for the preview. It has more info than most reviews these days do. Keep up the good work! Looks like the laptop to buy indeed. I wish they'd make a convertible pen-enabled one with great speakers and even if it weighs like 50% more it will still be one of the lightest. As for what else to review - this year's Huawei Matebook X pro 14.2" is a gem - they finally fixed the camera position (it's no longer in the keyboard), the screen is bigger, the touchpad is excellent (force touch like) and speakers are almost at Macbook Pro 14 level. You seem to be one of the few people reviewing Huawei products so I hope you spread the work about that one too. I wish they made a 16" version of it though.
It was said that this Acer Swift Edge 16 was supposed to be 4K 90Hz OLED. Can you look more into that? A lot of press release articles when this was announced I think in India mentioned it.
@@andrewmarcdavid is your model SFA16-41-R7SU or SFA16-41-R6YS? I see SFA16-41-R6YS has the 60Hz not put on Acer's website so if yours is SFA16-41-R7SU then SFA16-41-R6YS is the hope for 90Hz lol
Thanks Andrew. Great content as always This is a great machine to complete against LG Gram. More competition is always better. I think there is a 2nd SSD slot underneath the cable that connects the main motherboard and the side board on the left. Can you confirm this please? If so, the upgrade path is just amazing with Acer Swift Edge.
Great review. Camera is good, voice is good. Perhaps if you sit and talk, the laptop mic would pick up voice better. Other than that laptop display is amazing. I will be getting this today delivered from Costco. I am replacing my old Dell XPS-13 laptop which is broken.. I have 2 other office laptops which I do not wish to use for my personal needs. This is mainly to save photos from my GoPro and edit and work remotely connecting to my servers running at home.
this is really good considering it's a 1.17 kg laptop my idea pad 5 pro (last year model) is 1.9 kg (but it has better keyboard, better battery size 75 wh, two fans, dedicated gpu)
1:57 ok its near end 2022 you'd think laptop manufacturers would start making smaller power bricks or am I just ignorant to some kind of technical issue? cause I would just buy a brick from anker
What an amazing display. should be fantastic for media consumption. 4+? Anyone remember when 1920/1080 P was a unicorn? I have a Spin 713 with 2k and love the 3:2 display. All hail the new 16:10 displays for larger displays. I have been following your YT channel for awhile and I have always liked that you make your content about the subject, not you. You don't have an angle. Stay the same, Andrew! Cheers
Thank you for this video. I got this for a really good price, but some minor reasons led me to refund it. It was getting very warm to touch with just one fan (it felt like I was burning my fingers at times). Secondly the fan noise was getting alot more high pitched than what Id like (unsure if it was the fan or some coil whine). Thirdly having a 4k display is very nice but cuts down battery time by alot. I found myself using full hd+ (1920x1200) most of the time which wasn’t exactly good to look at because of how it compresses pixels. All in all, would be a really good laptop if the batterytime, heat and noise were worked on.
On a minor note, I never figured out how to turn off the beep sound when plugging in and out the charger. I looked at bios for a setting with no avail. Would ve nice to know if there is a way to turn it off :)
On the main Acer page (the link in the description) it says usb-c ports are usb-c 4 but in the detailed tech specs it says usb-c 3.2. Are you definite it is 3.2? (which would be a real shame)
I thought the camera was actually very good, of course you have the best lighting in the studio. Acer has done right with the screen, amazing size of the screen too. I think I can get used to a shallow keyboard. RAM is a bit of a let down and they might have PCIe gen 4 SSD in it but it is a mediocre SSD. Outstanding would have been 6800-7400 read and 6000+ write. But... who really cares with Windows. The microphone sounded a little "tinny" for your booming voice 🙂 All these machines are finger print magnets, there is a good way to avoid that: either a cover or a skin if it bothers people. I always say: there is always saturday morning to just clean up the desk and give the laptop some attention (simply wipe it down with microfibre cloths). See, Acer did it right by not adding a numeric keypad to this - hahahah I know I am pity...
Don't forget that Ryzen is more power efficient that Intel when it comes to battery and I am seeing so far over 8+ hours on my websurfing test, so we can expect anywhere between 5 to 7 hours on real world mixed usage. Of course it comes down to what you are doing.

I'm so glad it's a glossy display. A matte display would have beat the purpose of a great Oled monitor.
Finally Acer making OLED laptops in thin and light form! Might get this over MBA M1.
