I recently purchased a 2022 LG Gram 16 from Costco ($1050) based in part on your review. I have no desire to return and buy the Swift Edge. First of all, its $400 more. The LG battery is substantially bigger, as is the battery life. I'm getting over 11 hours. Love the display, and don't need a 4K OLED. Keyboard has no flex. I have a micro SD card slot. It checks all my boxes.
I've been using this laptop for four days now and I'm very happy with it. Having watched this video I want to point out how positively surprised I am with the keyboard: It feels nice and sturdy to me and typing works like a charm. I guess was lucky and something was improved in the chassi.
Higher refresh rate screens should be at the norm even just for office use or productivity laptop. It could benefit when scrolling really quick and looking for something.
@@hubert3637 actually that’s what they’re doing, so the consumer now’s prefer black and white tv with higher refresh rate more than color tv with less refresh rate, so yes that’s what I’m saying.
Matt is the only reviewer with such handy tips as using the laptop as a trampoline if the kids are a bit bored. Thank you for another top rate review, Matt. The brightness for the Acer seemed a little low for a modern OLED display.
Mine just arrived from Costco today. Have to say that I did not find the keyboard to be hideous. While not great, the keyboard is serviceable and my unit at least did not exhibit the dreaded trampoline effect. I was more concerned about keeping the fan from being on excessively. At first the fan was running almost constantly b/c I was putting the system under load while installing the software I need to use. But after a couple of efficiency and display adjustments, the ‘always on’ fan problem went away. Overall, I think it’s worth it. Very sleek and light; excellent display and nimble performance. The biometric fingerprint sensor did not setup properly at first, but is now working fine. Those stickers ARE a bit much though, and I’ve already decided a couple of them have gotta go! I also think that Acer needs to pay a graphics designer to come up with a logo that’s more iconic (think KIA), but that may be wishing thinking. : )
I've had mine about a week now and found the keyboard similar to you. I hated the stickers so got rid of them already :P. I was a bit disappointed with the drive speed (3511MB/s max read), so am gonnaswitch it out. I had the same experience with the fan during updates and since then it's pretty ok. Overall I am really loving the screen, for something so light it feels super crimially good :D
We’re thinking along the same lines there. I swapped the drive out as well, for a 2TB Samsung 980 Pro PCIe NVMe Gen4 M.2 SSD. It’s fast. With an external SSD enclosure and Samsung’s Data Migration software, the drive cloning process went very smoothly. Loving that screen too! I was unable to adjust screen brightness at first, but everything is working after downloading the VGA_AMD driver from Acer and installing it from Device Manager/Display adapters. Now if I can find a tech who can do the soldered RAM upgrade to 32GB, I’ll be set : )
Are you praising or criticizing KIA's new logo? Because to me, their new giant K "backwards N" logo isn't exactly that inspired or attractive. I much prefer their Korean domestic market stylized K logo.
Just got this laptop and it's absolutley stunning, and to my surprise, there is no keyboard flex at all, these must have been pre-production models all these youtubers got because I've seen a lot of comments on there being no keyboard flex.
@@g1363 Battery lasts about 7 hours, no heat issues. However it got a black screen after the latest windows update so its unusable now. Nothing seems to fix it. Will probably have to take it to the repair shop.
Seeing so much flex on the keyboard, renders even more precious the LG Gram design in my eyes, they manage almost the same weight with much bigger battery and much better keyboard. LG just has to start using AMD processors now that they support USB4 and eGPUs.
Not that I was actively looking for a laptop but that keyboard deck flex knocked this out of my consideration immediately. Typing experience is one of my biggest considerations and I'm always surprised how many high-end laptops flex way more than I'd expect
@@oldbot64 not necessarily. I haven't noticed this level of flex in every laptop made with these alloys. There are definitely other ways to provide some rigidity to that deck
Great review as always, thanks! Love the weight, CPU and screen. The main downside (to me with one1 24 GB laptop and two 32GB laptops), is the lack of a 32GB RAM version (given the RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded) - I wanted to replace one of my computers with this, but my current machines all have more RAM)... While the battery life is (very) good, but a larger capacity battery (like that of the LG Gram 16) would be ideal.
I have personally experienced this laptop in the store and this is insanely thin and light, I never experience a 16 inch laptop before and the gram isn't popular in my country. I was surprised on how they are able to make all of it that weighs lesser than a 13 inch MBA, magnesium definitely feels plasticky and premium at the same time. Totally didn't expect that acer would launch a new swift line besides the X, 3 and 5. However the price is at the high side, comparable to 8, 512 M2 Air, even though 16 inch in this chassy is cool, I still prefer 13 inch form factor more. Nonetheless, one of the best product from acer ever!
Great review Matt! I just bought this (32GB, 6850u version) and really love this for it's screen and portability. I don't think my keyboard was that bouncy, but I am struggling to type on it reliably, maybe I will get used to it. I noticed the Acer website says the ports are USB4, device manager also says this in Windows, but when I asked the retailer about this they said it was a mistake and should be 3.2. I noticed that Razor just did a firmware on their latest AMD latop which added USB4, Thunderbolt4 and Pluton which is interesting so maybe Acer are in the same boat and locked out by software for now. Oh well, fingers crossed they add it too, as that would be nice.
I bought this laptop recently, the keyboard was very sturdy for me, I would say no noticeable flex at all, even when pressing down hard. Please research online for other reviews, I'm not the only person saying the keyboard is great. I think the laptop in this video might be flawed.

call me crazy, but after using the XPS Plus for about 2 months, all other laptops look ugly, including this one.
Ok but which one is the best to pick for a dedicated graphics it's so fucking stoopid how they have all models name under the same name , so is it the Acer 14 2023 with the dedicated graphics because you guys literally say the exact same shit about all the laptops. Exact same bullshit
.. and it's confusing ... all of them are a $1000 literally $2000 actually not a thousand but which one has the dedicated graphics I do light interior design work so would be the Acer X Acer Swift ? Or Acer 14 ?
Acer seems incapable of making a good laptop.
Do your research before publishing Videos. AMD supports usb4.0 now. and that means this laptop supports thunderbolt.
Keyboard means a lot (((

that stickers again slapping on the laptop, i hate windows laptops
I have never like the design of acer, not enticing but this brand is one of those cheapest in the market.
1500$ for 60hz monitor laptop? fuck no
This model not 1.15kg. From Acer website is 1.17kg. but actually is 1.19kg .
And this is budget brand .
This laptop is garbage.
54Wh battery is a joke. In addition to this - ACER failed to deliver high quality components to ensure high energy efficiency - what Matt called "good battery life" is complete bullshit and he knows it.
This laptop makes no sense.
