    What is the output voltage of the horrible looking black AC adaptor? As others have stated, I'm wondering if an output on the boiler could power the unit directly, thus removing the need for the unsightly power lead.

    Excellent demo. Does the EBUS (0.5mm blue and brown wire) have Polarity? It would have been clearer if the screw was removed and the ebus (blue and brown wires) connection was exhibited.

    can the sender unit fit into the front of the boiler and also take it power from the PCB, surely this would be better. good review by the way.

    Why not mounting the gateway into the the same closet as the CV and power it via the CV power strip??

    if the adapter is 24 v, then this supply can also be taken from Vaillant from next to the bus connection

    • @linengmiao
      @linengmiao 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you ll still have to transform your 24v to 5v. The adapter outputs 5v.
      Source: have the adapter right next to me.

    Can you switch on DVR central heating via the boiler or is it app only?

    Bongiorno, ho la stessa caldaia vsmart però non funziona il riscaldamento, volevo sapere se sul morsetto del bruciatore spento deve rimanere il ponticello con il cavo rosso, e se sul morsetto 24=rt bisogna mettere anche il ponticello, il cavo ebus già e' collegato grazie

    Thanks for this tutorial mate excellent as usual. I do have a quick question and hopefully, you can help me out. I do have a Vaillant Ecotec system boiler and when I want to adjust the flow temperature I press the right top button but is not showing the option to adjust the temperature instead of that it shows the water pressure. Please let me know if you came across something like this. Thanks

    Maybe someone can help me out with an issue with a wireless thermostat on a Vaillant boiler. The guys who installed my boiler and wireless thermostat connected it to the "burner off" pins, not the e-bus. The problem is that when the thermostat shuts off the heating, I'm not getting hot water either. So far I set the thermostat to 25 degrees so that the boiler is always on (managing the temperature in the radiator circuit on its own + hot water on demand) and I'm setting the temperature in each room using the radiator valves. Should they have connected the thermostat to the e-bus? Also, there was a bridge in there that they took out, not sure if it's from the 24 V or the Burner off pins.
    LE: Solved it. I found out that my Honeywell T3R thermostat is just a radio box with a relay which switches the heating on and off. It's a room thermostat, not a wireless one even though the command panel is wireless. Switched the wires to the 24 V relay, bridged the Burner off pins and voila, it works. Thanks for reading this.

    When you replace the battery of the thermostat it stops finding the correct temperature. Furthermore the app and the thermostat do not agree on what to do, so on any moment the boiler switches on for no clear reason.

    Tom, great tutorial in fact Vaillant do not have such a good quality guide even if the product is great. Thanks mate, great help!

    Can’t say I’m keen on the separate power supply. Think I’d rather stick to Nest for this reason.

    Thanks for this detailed video, great help! I'm curious though is it 24V DC or AC? I've watched a video where they install it into the white connector (between the blue and red), is there any reason to use the while vs the ebus connection? Thank you!

    Hola a todos. Tengo una duda, tengo la vaillant turbotec plus VMW ES 21/245/4-5 y en el terminal de RT 24V en vez de tener 2 patillas como en el video, tengo 3, con los numeros 7, 8 y 9. En el video solo se ven dos patillas... Si el termostato solo viene para cablearlo con dos cables... ¿donde los conecto?.
    Gracias

    If you are removing an eBus connected thermostat and replacing it with a 24v connected Nest device, do you have to bridge the ebus connection together? or just have something connected to the 24v terminals and the ebus with nothing connected.

    • @HalfLife2Beta

      No never bridge the ebus pins its told in the manual

    Doesn’t the current time clock on the boiler (score plus 838) become redundant. Do you just leave it off ?

      Hi Bobby did you find the answer to your question? I have a pro24 with a mechanical timer fitted I'm looking to install a wireless thermostat but don't know if I remove timer and fit a blank and just wire the remote stat it will work?

  • @anylookup

    Why this isn't powered by the 24V (actually 21V when measured) eBus like other thermostats and requires thus ugly power plug and thus an available power outlet...
    I read a lot of complaints from users about the app as well and that if anything goes wrong it defaults to CONSTANT ON heating and thus bills can go through the roof - it's a no go for me then as it should least have a safety thing namely default to non-freeze temp as opposed to constant heating. It's a shame because it would have been a great product otherwise. Maybe they'll get another mobile app developers to get the app right one day.

    do you still have to have the normal thermostat on or can you install a new boiler then install the vsmart without normal thermostat?

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the vsmart is the thermostat. no other controls are needed. no other time clock are needed as this is a programmable wifi connected thermostat.

      @@tomkatgastraining whats your opinion on the Vsmart after 7 years ? Heard a lot of terrible reviews where you cannot change the temperature if the Wifi is down, that the temperature goes through Vaillant servers and if theyre down, house is heated to 30°C. Do you confirm that ?

    For the life of me I don’t understand why manufactures are releasing TH-cam videos on how to install their kit, not promotional videos but actual installation. This would reveal the need for the link for instance.

    This thermostat seems to better than Nest and Hive. Mainly because its designed to work with the Vaillant boiler. I would interested to hear other opinions

Would any of you, author or person commenting this video, help me installing the wifi version through a videocall? I'd be grateful. thanks

    Do not install this thermostat. Due to a problem with the Vaillant servers, it is often impossible to connect via Wi-Fi. Vaillant Technical Services are aware of the problem but cannot remedy it. A disaster.
