Planning to upgrade from.a normal set temperature only thermostat to a hive 3. Will follow the video as described step by step and hoping all goes per plan. Fingers crossed.
    Very informative video.

So how do you then connect it to your phone? - had mine a while and it has recently disconnected and I’m playing hell with it to get it back on.

Have you tried deleting it off your phone and reinstalling it?

In all fairness, you can remove the front decorative casing, its the silver combustion case thats the biggie for the combustion chamber you need to be badged up for.

I have a vaillaint combi boiler, can this hive be installed on this boiler to control both heating and hot water? Or do you know any other alternatives that can control both? I want to be able to switch off hot water if my son spend 10 hrs in the shower😂 which he does

Wow i didn’t realise they are that easy to install. I’m now thinking of upgrading my programer and room stat. Also my understanding is you only need to be Gas safe Registered if you install and connect the gas supply to the boiler.
    Great Video as always Ben

Mate, they are so simple for any spark. I have a nest in my house and its brilliant - Cheers mate

Just bought a Hive system and we were going to pay a spark to have it fitted but after watching your vid I’m going to install it myself!

Do you prefer Hive or Nest Ben?

I have a nest, but I think they both do the same thing really. I suppose hive has the battery's in and the nest is wall mounted and needs a supply,

Brilliant and informative video mate. Would i be right in saying theres also a hive thermostat without a receiver, that also has wifi, that you just wire into your existing wiring for your old 2 channel timer? In other words the thermostat looks identical to the one you just set up, except all your live, neutral, earth, NO, NC etc terminals are actually on the back of the thermostat?

I think they all have a reviver and a control. All the wiring goes to the control and the stat is wireless and battery powered

Looking to upgrade to one of these this winter for myself. Thanks for the excellent video dude. Subbed.
Im new in trade - what would you charge for something like this?
I have a friend that wants one installed and has asked me to do it. He can be my guinea pig before i do mine ha ha.

They do help with controlling the heating. Espically when you’re not home. To switch it over I would charge around £100

Unless you know the difference between boilers you should always use a gas safe engineer to wire in your thermostat. Not all boilers allow access to the electric inside without compromise the combustion seal . Ideal logics are one !!!! Take care guys

Do you work in North London at all? I have a Vaillant TurboMax 828e plus conbi boiler with an internal Vaillant Timeswitch clock within the front panel on it for the past 22 years, which is now obsolete. I am obviously looking to install something like a HIve V3 or Nest, but I want to be able to zone my 9-11 rads at a later date with compatible thermostatic radiator valves, which I understand the Hive V3 is able to do, but I am unsure as to whether Nest can or not. I am eager to get this done by a pro such as yourself and this video has convinced to go ahead. Thank you.

Sorry mate I’m in the midlands. However I’m sure there are good sparks down your way - it’s a pretty simple job

Managed to swap to hive but heating is not kicking in. Green lights green on both kights.
I did remove the jump wire from wire connecting points 2&5. Any suggestions?

Have you a tester to see if it pitting out a live for the timer to work?
