I have a Morco GB24 3 Series in caravan. I have seen the link wire on Room Stat in boiler so am I right to copy exactly what you have done? It has a mechanical integrated timer with off/on/timer switch. Would I leave it on the on position always and let the Hive override the boiler once connected?
Great tutorial mate!! My salus rt500 thermostat just packed up and looking to replace with a hive. Was just wondering if I would need to link out the connection in the face plate where the receiver sits at the moment or if I can just disconnect it. (ideal logic plus boiler)
Just remove the old reciever completely and replace it with the Hive reciever using the same cable. You won't need to the touch the wiring on the boiler. You only need 4 core, you don't need an earth because the Hive recievers are double insulated. I used it in this video because I used an old piece of cable.
I am going to change a Honeywell CM927 receiver over to the Hive Mini receiver, the wiring in the Honeywell is similar to your video, but the wiring looks different, the L&N are the same but I have 2 wires in A&B which on the Hive would be 4&5, should it but wired the same on the Hive? its a Bosch Greenstar 30i condenser boiler, your video makes it look simple, thank you
@@HouseWarm the wires in the old receiver are L&N in 1&2 and blue and brown, those are in A&B which would be 4&5 on the Hive, I presume they are switching wires, just removed the cover and tested them both show as powered? so which wire would I use in the number 3 connector, thanks for your help
Hello! 👋 Firstly - great video, concise and to the point! After seeing this one and many others, wired up the new hive unit in the exact same fashion... but when the thermostat unit turns 'ON' - nothing happens to the boiler. It doesn't fire up. The boiler did come with an inbuilt thermostat unit which I've unplugged.. but wondering if there's potentially a conflict happening where the boiler is not turning on because of the inbuilt thermostat not being there? Any idea if it could be anything else? Thank you
This is a combi boiler so like all thermostats it only controls the heating. If you've got a separate hot water tank then you'll need the other Hive for heating and hot water which controls both.
@@HouseWarm does it matter where the receiver goes, my boiler is in the loft and existing cable to downstairs is only 4 core 🙈 so was hoping it would be alright up in loft by boiler..?
You can use 4 core as you don't need an earth on a Hive, I did on this because I reused the old cable. But yes you can fit it in the loft or anywhere else.
Great video! I've got an Ideal Logic Max Combi c30 with a mechanical timer on the face plate, and no external thermostat. If I follow this videos wiring with the Hive, what happens to the timer on the front?
Thanks. You can either leave it in and switched on all the time, or remove it and refit the link wire if you still have it. I made a video yesterday on how to fit one, so it's this in reverse order th-cam.com/video/1_UgDVx4ook/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PVnPN3oS5Hgw9Ayw
Great video. I’m about to install hive to my logic combi boiler. Quick question. The grey wire is not connected either inside the boiler or to my current thermostats. Am I ok to connect the grey wire for the hive and would I have to remove the existing black wire that I’m assuming goes to the thermostat?
The logic plus has an opentherm connection you’re doing yourself or the customer a disservice fitting a hive. Get a smart timer with opentherm way better comfort and accuracy your gas bill will thank you.
Where do i get the wire with all thos different coloured wires on it that connects from the boiler to the hive hub, also does that hive hub come with the hive thermostat when you buy it.
It's called 4 core flex, you can buy it in lots of places, I usually use Screwfix. The one in video is 5 core but you don't need an earth as the Hive reciever is double insulated. The boiler isn't wired to the hub, it's wired to the reciever, the hub is plugged into the router. It comes as a pack of 3, the thermostat, reciever and hub. Here's the combi boiler Hive pack on Amazon amzn.to/4iIeOzM
@HouseWarm thanks a lot for that, just another quick question, I currently have a wired thermostat that sets the temperature on a round scroll wheel, do I need to disconnect that before installing the hive, thanks
@HouseWarm my heatmiser wiring centre and manifold is in the middle of the house and boiler is in the kitchen about 8 meters away and plugged into a spur. I have seen videos where they connect boiler wire to hestmiser wiring centre. Do i need a long electric wire from my boiler to wiring centre.?
Hey, my hive been working fine for 5 years. Last night the actual dropped from 17.5 to 5…. I’ve tried restarting both the receptor and thermostat. The actual is on around 7. Which just isn’t true. Any ideas 😢
@@HouseWarmrang them and they suggested ordering a new thermostat so let’s hope that works 😊 thanks for the suggestion. Was very concern when heating stayed on and boiler temp was ever increasing. Yet the temp on the hive thermostat didn’t increase at all. Hoping it’s the hive thermostat issue and nothing to do with the boiler

Perfect concise video. Easily best walkthrough guide for this installation. Cheers mate.

Yes wiring should be the same and yes just leave mechanical timer turned on constantly.
Thankyou and great instructive video 👍

Thanks pal

Either of the 2 wires that aren't the live or neutral

@@Deuces313 yeah you might have to link out the old thermostat. What boiler is it?
I got a wireless hive thermostat for my combi boiler. Is that wireless one support to the combi boiler?
This is the wireless Hive thermostats reciever being fitted. The wireless connection is between the thermostat and the reciever.
Is this for heating only or heating and hot water? Great to the point video 👍🏽
This is a combi boiler so like all thermostats it only controls the heating.

Presume this is the single channel unit with 24v switching in the boiler?
Single channel 230v but works on 24v if needed.

How would this work if i have dual zone i believe j have to fit 2 recievers for both zones
Yes you'll need 1hub, 2 recievers and 2 thermostats.

Can i use the old thermostat receiver wire to wire the hive up or do i need another wire ?
You can use the old cable.
@HouseWarm do I just remove the old receiver and just wire the hive , or do I need to change any of the wires in the boiler shown on your video bud
@matthewshutt4832 just swap the reciever.
@HouseWarm cheers bud

Not sure, sounds like a faulty thermostat. Call Hive, they're happy to help and usually very good. They can do things from their end sometimes.

Yeah I thought you might need a new thermostat but at least its just that and the reciever and hub should be good. Won't be a boiler problem.
I tried this but it said thermostat low battery. Do u have to link the main live with ny comms live in the receiver ?
@@markyboyb32ify No. Change the batteries in thermostat.
Is this wiring the same for all the boilers? Appreciate the reply 🙏
All combi boilers
Why did you not have to add a link
No link needed
Great 👍🏼
Thanks!
Why would anyone install a smart thermostat that fires not have opentherm?
Because 99.9% of humans have never heard of it or don't understand it, and most boilers aren't compatible.
