Both NCIS and NCIS:LA should've been mentioned as JAG set the standard for Military-based crimes and both it's spin-offs elevated JAG's impossibly high standards.
What the heck no mention of A Different World a spin off of The Cosby Show? It was popular enough to last 6 seasons so at least an honorable mention was deserved.

NCIS? The show with 11 seasons that is the most watched scripted show on television for the past 5 years? Well, this list is for spin-offs that originated from "extremely popular shows". Shows like "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" with 14 can't miss blissful episodes, not shows like "JAG" with their paltry 10 seasons that nobody in 90 countries watched.

Law and Order SVU should be #1. And so many other shows - including several of your honorable mentions, like The Andy Griffith Show, deserve a spot on the top 10 before Saved by the Bell should be considered.
Frasier, by far, is my favorite. Can’t really argue about the Simpsons being #1. Before social media I used the Simpsons as a trivia question. Most people didn’t know it was a spin-off.

Torchwood, and/or Sarah Jane Adventures while admittedly both shows got off to rocky starts, once they found their footing they could be just as good as Doctor Who (and in some cases better) Also while I'm not a fan, Agents of SHIELD might have been worth an honorable mention
Sorry to be negative, but Agents of SHIELD isn't a spin-off. It's a TV series based off a Movie Continuity, much like Buffy. But, definitely good points about Doctor Who and Torchwood, I certainly wish it could have gotten an honorable mention.
The Sarah Jane Adventures was a great childrens spin-off of Doctor Who with great acting, the best loved characters of the parent show and guest appearances from the Doctor himself it had high ratings and lasted 5 successful series. Despite being toned down for a younger audience it was still scary and was clearly made with very good production values.
Shame Xena was relegated to honorable mentions, but you can't have it all, I guess. I always thought Xena was a much better show then Hercules. That one and TNG are the only two spinoff series (of the ones I've seen, anyway) who I think are better then their originals. That's not to say the originals are bad. Just not as good.
Agreed, I liked Xena better than Hercules. She was so badass. Everything about her was badass. I played the PSX Xena video game. She was also my sister's favorite show. I once had a strange dream where my sister was in a stickfight and was doing a karate kiai with every strike and with Xena's voice.

Simpsons may have a long time on tv, but to me, the show is not that interesting to watch. Besides, you have to know when to toss in the towel. Simpsons should close the door on the show and call it a day. The 'humor' is very stale and dull now.

How does the Simpsons count as a spinoff? Yeah it was shown as part of another show but it was still the same product. All that changed when it became its own show is the quality of the animation got better and more characters were added to its universe.
Funny, I agreed with your list, right until you showed the mentions and the Number 1 on your list. Not sure if Simpsons qualifies as a spinoff.... and really? No Xena Warrior princess on the list?
The pilot was of Happy Days aired as a segment of Love, American Style which was an anthology show with different stories and characters each week. The pilot aired in 1972 but the network didn't pick it up. A year later, American Graffiti was released in theaters and became a hit. AG also starred Ron Howard and ABC decided to pick up Happy Days.
Somebody’s sleeping at the wheel!!! You guys totally forgot the successful “90210” spin-off “Melrose Place” and “A Different World,” a VERY successful spin-off of “The Cosby Show,” and another “All In The Family” spin-off “Maude” and it’s own spin-off “Good Times.” And you could’ve added “Valerie’s Family” as an honorable mention.
Technically these are all spinoffs, but some aren't 'traditional' spinoffs. Saved by the Bell was more of a restructuring than a spin-off. Happy Days was originally made as a pilot, but then aired in a show that showcased different show productions. And the ratings got the Happy Days episode picked up as its own show.
I think Korra is considered more of a Sequel than a spin-off. It was a logical progression and continuation of the Avatar Universe, rather than taking the universe and exploring a different part of it. Albeit, this is the same argument either for or against Star Trek: The Next Generation.. so, it could go either way.
yeah - Korra is a direct sequal..Korra pics up where Aang dies and most of the characters from ATLAB are on TLOK ...plus...the gap in time we havent seen gets shown/explained in flashbacks ...sequal not spin off ...which prompts a top 10 direct sequal list
Then wouldn't Star Trek the Next Generation fall under the sequel category then? Deep Space Nine and Voyager count as spin offs since they happened simultaneously with both TNG and each-other. but TNG should fall under the sequel category.
I love Daria, I liked it way more than Beavis and Butthead. I only watched one season of Angel, I think that was the season with the most crossovers. Then after that I only watched the episodes where I heard about a crossover here and there (like when Faith came back to fight the evil Angel before going back to BTVS in S7) I always preferred Buffy though. It's crazy how many of these shows I didn't know were spinoffs like Andy Griffith, Jeffersons, Saved by the Bell, Frasher, etc.
TheKeyser94 yea but shouldnt WatchMojo.com know it was a spin-off? I mean they knew about all of those other descreet spin-offs...I watched Perfect Strangers and Family Matters and did not know Family Matters was Perfect Stranger's spin off
After the first season, Horatio Caine and his one-liners were probably the worst thing about CSI: Miami. It was distinctive from the original, but not in a good way. And no Benson, spinoff of Soap, Knots Landing, spinoff of Dallas, or SWAT, spinoff of The Rookies?
King of the Hill wasn't necessarily a spin off. I mean Mike Judge just took Tom Anderson's voice and used it for Hank. I love both Daria and KOTH but Daria should've been on this list
The keepaway Yes. Zack, Screech, Lisa, and Mr. Belding were originally on Miss Bliss before they moved to Saved by the Bell. Slater, Kelly, and Jessie were new.
This is more like "most popular in the ratings" than "best". Laverne & Shirley for a while was the #1 show, but how many people were saying "Wow, that show deserves an award! 20 years from now, we'll be quoting lines from Laverne & Shirley!"
Just a random question is just that I really don't want to watch this video. Is Once Upon a Time in Wonderland by any chance is in this list? Or honorable mentions?
And now, we need this list's remake with Better Call Saul as No. 1
you're goddamn right.

My thoughts exactly! At the time Knots wrapped up, it was the second longest running show in TV history.
“Knots” was amazing and crazy that it wasn’t mentioned.
As well as Saved by the Bell: The New Class that was on for like a decade.

So many angry Whovians about no Torchwood mention :-P
Of course that show is awesome.
How about the original Melrose Place (from 90210) and Boston Legal (from The Practice)
How does the Simpsons count as a spinoff? Yeah it was shown as part of another show but it was still the same product. All that changed when it became its own show is the quality of the animation got better and more characters were added to its universe.
That's exactly what makes it a spin off characters from one show to another
Mama's Family was quite a successful Spin-Off and I think that the parent series was quite popular too
I was thinking about Mama's Family too. It was on TV pretty much all through the 80's and still shows up in reruns today.
Fuck YES
LAO: SVU totally deserved to be here.
Funny, I agreed with your list, right until you showed the mentions and the Number 1 on your list. Not sure if Simpsons qualifies as a spinoff.... and really? No Xena Warrior princess on the list?
I thought the exact same thing!!!!
why wouldn't the simpsons be considered a spin-off?
Fabby Marmol Because it was the same show within a show. They just gave it it's own time slot when tracey dropped off.
Frasier should be number one.
Mork and Mindy??? Like the best spin off ever. Did you just forget about it??
With WatchMojo's wierd rules, they probably considered that a spinoff of Happy Days.
So? that doesn't disqualify it.
Laverne and Shirley is a spinoff from Happy Days as well, and they mentioned that one.
I completely agree. I was waiting for them to mention it and when they didnt, I was all 'WHY? shazbot.'
More and Mindy was really a spin-off but a back door pilot, since he was not a establish character on the show.
Save by the Bell was not really a spin off, more like a rebranding.
Xena; Warrior Princess really should have been higher than just a honorable mention.
It went downhill after Xena had a baby.
best spin-off of the best original? jefferson's spin-off of all in the family
I didn't know "Happy Days" was a spinoff. A friend of mine had a small role in one episode of it.
Happy Days was a spinoff? I never knew that.
I can't wait for the breaking bad spin off "Better call Saul"
Is there actually gonna be one?
Yes, google it.
Yeah, it airs in a few months
It tells you all about it on imdb and they have started filming season 2
I've always thought of STTNG as more of a sequel rather than a spinoff.
It's kind of both.
yes it more of a sequel then spinoff. Think STDS9 would have been more in line then STTNG.
What about Torchwood!!!
I was think the same thing. Although torchwood isn't widely popular it is my fav spin off
This list is for Good shows.
*****
Yep. But they were great, not only good!
joshjhutton
Yes,that's why Torchwood should be in there? duh!
Well Torchwood seasons 1 and 2 I would say qualify, but COE and Miracle Day, especially Miracle Day, were just downhill.
Not even an honourable mention of The Legend of Korra, spin off of Avatar the Last Airbender?
I think Korra is considered more of a Sequel than a spin-off. It was a logical progression and continuation of the Avatar Universe, rather than taking the universe and exploring a different part of it. Albeit, this is the same argument either for or against Star Trek: The Next Generation.. so, it could go either way.
I have to agree, it's more of a sequel.
yeah - Korra is a direct sequal..Korra pics up where Aang dies and most of the characters from ATLAB are on TLOK ...plus...the gap in time we havent seen gets shown/explained in flashbacks ...sequal not spin off ...which prompts a top 10 direct sequal list
Then wouldn't Star Trek the Next Generation fall under the sequel category then? Deep Space Nine and Voyager count as spin offs since they happened simultaneously with both TNG and each-other. but TNG should fall under the sequel category.
Still rather new and not exactly a success story. Got "cancelled" on Nick.
I'm so happy Frasier made this list. That show defined my life for quite a time
Not just 30-year-olds remember David as Bones, I watched both Angel and Buffy from the age of 4 and I'm 23 now :) And i still love both the shows
Angel should be number 1
Angel is my all time fave show!
Uh, no NCIS on this list....which in my opinion should of been up in the top 3.
NCIS should be on here. Most people don't remember but it's actually a spinn-off of JAG. It runs already 12 seasons and has two spin-offs of its own.
Why is'nt The Originals in this list? Spin-off from The Vampire Diaries. It's just AWESOME
It's the same reason the Flash is not on the list. The list does not include shows currently airing on television.
yay for Hayley Mills...who played Miss Bliss.
Hayley Mills the original Parent Trap and the better Parent Trap
and a few other good Disney movies, Pollyanna, That Darn Cat
Th3 D0ctor Summer Magic, Tiger Bay, In search of the castaways
A Different World spin-off from the Cosby show
How was NCIS not even honorably mentioned?
Maybe because people don't known that NCIS is spin-off of JAG, and if I hadn't seen JAG for myself I wouldn't known that either.
Yet it's still a spin-off, and a great one at that. Just because it's not common knowledge doesn't make it any less true
stomyn Yeah, I known, never the less, I had no idea that was an spin-off until I see the later seasons reruns of JAG in TV.
TheKeyser94 yea but shouldnt WatchMojo.com know it was a spin-off? I mean they knew about all of those other descreet spin-offs...I watched Perfect Strangers and Family Matters and did not know Family Matters was Perfect Stranger's spin off
Beast Lee i allways tought it was a spinoff of full house
Girl Meets World (spin-off of Boy Meets World)
and Fear The Walking Dead (spin off of The Walking Dead) are my favorite spin-offs lol
"Good Times"!! a spin off of "Maude", which itself, was a spin off of "All in the Family".
I just can't believe you miss NCIS !!
I was just about to say that. I still can't believe they forgot NCIS.
Right
Just started the video but I'm guessing NCIS will be #1.
I thought that too but it didn't even get an honorable mention
did not even get a mention, travesty
Should be.
what is NCIS a spinoff of??
Oh JAG duh
surprised Xena only got an honorable mention
Torchwood was a spinoff of the Rebooted Doctor Who; but that series is more like a spinoff than continuation of the original Doctor Who.
How Daria is not on this list is appalling
and umm WHERE THE FUCK IS NCIS??? (The original one, it's a spin off of JAG)
King of the Hill wasn't necessarily a spin off. I mean Mike Judge just took Tom Anderson's voice and used it for Hank. I love both Daria and KOTH but Daria should've been on this list
I love how you guys made this 6 months before Better Call Saul
Ikr it would totally be #1
I love how you guys think everything made in the 2000s is better than the glory days of the 70s and 80s.
Saved by the bell is a remake of good morning miss bliss
The keepaway Yes. Zack, Screech, Lisa, and Mr. Belding were originally on Miss Bliss before they moved to Saved by the Bell. Slater, Kelly, and Jessie were new.
Knots Landing a spin-off from Dallas and Benson a spin-off from Soap should've been on the top ten best Spin-offs
This is more like "most popular in the ratings" than "best". Laverne & Shirley for a while was the #1 show, but how many people were saying "Wow, that show deserves an award! 20 years from now, we'll be quoting lines from Laverne & Shirley!"
Daria as only an honorable mention?? Come on that show is better than half of the shows on this list
Just a random question is just that I really don't want to watch this video. Is Once Upon a Time in Wonderland by any chance is in this list? Or honorable mentions?
+Carol Soto no
Okay. Thanks! :)
+James McGill Daria is the best spin off of all time. I still watch it all the time
Daria is a cartoon, not a sitcom.
