I prefer the first game as well. I think that the more cartoonish look of IGAU suits the game better given the source material. Not having to deal with gear makes the aesthetics of each costume seem more cohesive as a whole.
Jeremiah Baskerville There was a ton of zoning in this game as well. This game started out with zoning superman and Deathstroke. Number two started out with Deadshot. Same thing. In fact number 1 had more characters with Zoning options then number 2 across the roster. Mind games were just prevalent and understood. This game has more defensive options. Thats actually the issue. They made strong defensive options while MB roll is mediocre so once you get in they can just air escape and all your work is for nothing and its back to zoning. Also delay wakeup is great for zoners.
James Rivera: INJ2 had a bigger screen which was much friendlier for the zoning option. Also, don't confuse a character's capability for a zoning defense with one that is actually good at zoning to the point where it becomes essential in their gameplay. In that respect, both games are at least equal.
i only played injustice1 but what you said is how i feel about mk9...mkx is probably the better game but something is off for me in that game... let's see how mk11 turns out
I really miss these days man. MK9 and Injustice surviving side by side. Tons of up and coming players, amazing offline scene made tournaments so worth looking forward to. As for the game itself, it hasn't aged as well as MK9 lol, they had a lot of fun ideas but I feel like they were better fleshed out in Inj2 (before that abysmal final patch). The broken tech makes this game what it is, and that was fun for a lot of us. I miss a lot of the characters they had in this that didn't return for Inj2.

Injustice 2 definitely looked better and had better gameplay, but I miss the simplicity of early NRS, before getting any of the good cosmetic stuff became a soul-crushing grind. And this cast was so much better despite being smaller - save for Scorpion, if you were to ask me who the most essential DC Comics characters are, I'd just point at this game's roster and maybe slide in some notes about two or three more names on the side. And that story mode! Still the best in all of fighting games, if you ask me. (not that this is a very high bar to clear)
Batgirl has a tremendous amount of options and some really high mobility, but learning Batgirl's vortex makes for some really cheap wins. I was only able to beat some basic BGs because that's ALL they knew how to do.

Not like the horse shit in I2 and MKX where dashes are shit but they try to make up for it with a run mechanic and meter burn roll. That was the dumbest decision ever. It should not have to cost resources just to have viable mobility. Please take that shit or for MK11 or I3.

It wasnt exciting to watch like MK9/MKX or even games like GG, KoF, Tekken or USF4/Marble, but it had a charm to it and was honestly fun for the most part. Much better than I2 for sure. Here's hoping MK11 gets good animations.
