Nissan V8 Armada Starter

  • I needed to replace the starter in a Nissan V8 Armada and could not find anybody to show me how on You Tube. So here is my version of an instructional video. I strongly recommend that you not do this at home. There are too many steps and too many things that you can break. This project took us a little over two hours even though we had never done this job before. But it was accomplished by a master mechanic with over forty years in the car repair business. I would suspect that a home mechanic would never have enough of the appropriate kinds of tools to finish this job.
We laughed when the book labor rate to change an Armada starter called for only one hour of billable labor. That was totally ridiculous. So if you are a very advanced and experienced mechanic, this video may be helpful even if just to find the location of the starter. The starter symptoms for this job were starter click click and no rotation.

Very well done video! Good editing, good camera work too. Good narration. I would add that you do NOT need to remove the fuel line. The phlennum can be moved out of the way easily with fuel line still attached. I would also add Since this is an involved kind of job - be 100% sure your new starter actually WORKS. I did this yesterday only to find the new starter was defective. BUMMER!!!!!!!

This wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. You were smart about taking the throttle body off the plenum. The FSM says to drain coolant and remove the hoses from the throttle body and leave it on the plenum. Your way is better because you don't have to mess with the coolant. It took me 45 minutes to take everything off to get to the starter. 15 minutes to replace the starter. 30 minutes to put it back together. 1.5 hours total install time.........(But I spent 2 hours cleaning the ports and plenum when it was all apart. it was filthy. I also seafoamed the engine afterwards.)

You're a life saver! Watched this twice and was able to do it on my own (2008 Nissan Titan SE Flex fuel). Saved me tons of money haha Took me just under 4 hours since I didn't have the new starter with me. Thanks for this video!

Thanks for posting this video! It saved me a lot of time trying to figure it out by myself - ended up taking me 2.5hrs. The worse part for me was laying on the engine to get the starter bolts out. Piling on a bunch of old towels softened it up a bit.
