  • This Armada was towed because the starter would not crank, the owner was told it was a starter. It ended up being the immobilizer system and all it needed was the key programmed. I used the Xtool D8 to program the key with no problem.

Thanks for this video dude ! I have a similar problem with my 09' Battery was completely dead..... Used my key to manually unlock the door to pop the hood so I could charge the batt for a start....when the cables were connected , alarm went off...I panicked hitting all the buttons and maybe my face once or twice, and the next thing I know....car is completely static Replaced the battery..... I thought now I am good....nope! But did confirm that the key fob was operational...Have interior lights, and doors lock unlock...but that is about it.... Gonna try this..other wise a tow truck and mucho dinero at the stealership

Just had this happen today, close to dead battery, wouldn't take a charge. Replaced battery wouldn't start, wouldn't crank. Thinking now my starter is dead. Watched some of these videos, etc. I then took the actual key that you can slide out of the remote and it started right up. Took key out put it back in remote, and now it starts with both remotes w/o inserting actual key.
Now I just have to replace the hatch motor, and the rear compartment heat/ac fans are stuck on high and won't shut off.

Turn up your brightness on your device and you'll have less reflection.

No, the Autel can program keys on many makes but it will NOT pull the pin codes required to be able to program them. The Xtool has pulled the pin codes on both jeep and Nissan so far without any problems. I have a video showing it pulling pin codes on a jeep and programing a key.

You need to figure out if it is spark or fuel related to start with.

What if this is a stolen car-- and you just programmed the key for them. lol..
Just a thought. (I guess it did unlock the doors though)

Well, this is a normal customer of mine so I know they have owned this car for years but if that is a concern all you would have to do is look at the registration in the glovebox, besides before a car thief brings a car to a mechanic to have a key programmed he is probably going to own a scan tool himself so he doesn't get caught by the mechanic calling the cops.

@@737mechanic I wonder why it went bad? Did the key de-magnetize, or lose it's code? I don't think it's the car itself. I'm about to buy a D8 myself-- because I need extra keys on a 2010 Dodge Nitro, and an 2002 Acura MDX.. So that will pay for the scan tool right there. I called the dodge dealer, I was shocked that they charge $500 for copying a key. smh

@@calholli This car has had a message on the instrument panel for almost 2 years that said Key Missmatch but since the car always started and ran ok the owner didn't figure it was a problem. After programming the key that message is off. My guess is somehow the immobilizer became corrupted and stopped recognizing the key.
