@@brianwhetton9621 NC trains to go faster per lap at the end of a race. I raced cross country dirt bikes, 4-5 laps races, 40-60 miles total. So, I regularly ran 1-2 minutes faster each lap, once I noticed it, I tried to incorporate that as a race strategy. I would give up 2 minutes on the firt lap, and not tire. I would be 5 minutes faster on the last lap, with a pad of 3 minutes faster on laps 2 and 3. Guys would be tired and couldn't change pace. (somertimes) and sometimes they'd hang on like rabid dogs. Good times.

I suspect that is so because Tuohy creates huge interest and she's a "once in lifetime" talent for coach: on the track, through a XC course, and is a class act before, during, and after racing. I spent 13 years in yhe Marine Corps, there have been many I do mean many hard things I had to do and over come, but let me tell you running a track, just in circles wass by far the hardest for me so my hats off to these ladies

1 April 2023 - Here I am again watching Katelyn kick ass. I was so very concerned when she injured herself before her college debut. Those injuries are difficult to return to peak form from. Now I'm watching history being made just as she accomplishment during her high school years. Mid 20's is where most women reach their best years performing. She still has 2 years of college left. I am so happy for her, the Wolfpack girl's team and almighty God who has blessed this elite athlete with the skills that only occur around once in a generation.
What I love most about this girl, she looks slow, if you didn't know track you'd never pick her to win, but again and again this small girl next door just kills everyone is sight.
I have never seen a better stride and economy of motion than Katelyn. Also, on a different note, I really wouldn't want to make Sydney mad, bet she could kick some butt!!!

At the very beginning of this video, the 11 to 45 second mark, check out the shell-shocked look on the face of the poor young lady standing beside Tuohy at the starting line. It says, "I have no chance. What am I even doing here? This is as close to Katelyn Tuohy as I get in this race."
Outstanding control and win it's kinda scary when the pack is so close together for so long one slip up can end the season or worse but ya great performance for the Wolf pack 🐺
The male commentator kept making the same mistake. Mercy’s tactics were wrong. She played into the hands of other runners who have better finishing kicks. Katelyn runs very well from 1500 to 5000 metres. There’s no way Mercy could slow the race and hope to lose her in the later stages. Tsegay, for example, lacks a great finishing kick so aims to do the damage more slowly. Katelyn will most likely run the 5K event at this year’s rs world championship
I wonder if she is related to a Col. Touhy who was commander of 8th and I , USMC Barracks in 1972. She certainly runs with a Marine spirit. I’m 74 and not a runner any more and never competitively but I love to see internal spirit meet the physical spirit. Congrats to all of you girls.

This girl is unreal. Proves that dedicated training and a phenominal coach can produce such a talent. Hopefully she does as well when she gets into the professional game.
Wish the announcers would talk about the strategy and and the timing of the runners moves. At what point does Tuohy make her move and why? How do runners feel about the pace and their ability to adjust? There is so much about running that needs to be explained. Thanks to young, fun to watch blonde ponytail!

It's always a "lump in the throat" moment when I see Katelyn make her move to say, "good bye ladies, I'm GONE"! She's such a joy to watch!
