What she did there was something truly special. I got goosebumps all over and I could not believe my eyes but seeing is BOLieving. This will remain etched in my mind for a long time. How lucky I am that I was there OMG! The crowd was amazing, and clearly the loudest during this race, especially the final 15 seconds… I could hardly hear the voice of my friend next to me. I remember I saw that Femke was starting to shift to another gear in the final 100m and was hoping that as a supertalented hurdler she is able to maintain her speed better than her opponents… than I started shouting about 80-90 meters before the finish line: COME ON FEMKE, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! She did! She did! I was a 400 m hurdler myself so I have experience from inside what it means to run 400 m flat tooo…. This was soooo special, she and Klaver was just outstanding…. Never ever forget this race!
The fact that she started the week in an undignified splat face down on the ground and losing out on the medals, and then ended with this majestic and truly incredible sprint finish to end with gold, made this an all time great moment in athletics history.
never saw that... 8-10 meters behind with 60-70 meters to go and win that race in a "short" 400m run. began the tournament with falling and ends with rising. historic and epic.

Stacey-Ann Williams didn't run her PB in this race. It is a myth! Not to mention that you can't improve a 400m PB in the 4x400m relay. Williams had a SB of 50.12 prior to Budapest. So without a doubt she ran slower in this final.

To win this 4x400m relay for the Dutch team, Femke though needed to increase her speed at the last straight. Thanks to her great teamspirit and unbreakable determination she deservedly succeeded. 🙌💪🥰

Watch again, the Brit was very close to catching the Jamaican on the line but was a long way off entering the final straight. But Bol did a tremendous surge.
She will make Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone look like a carthorse in the 400m hurdles and break 50s for the first time. She is going to be the greatest female athlete of all time.
Great run by all 4 of the Dutch women! They all stayed disciplined and smart by not going full speed in the first half of the lap, but keeping up good speed until the end of the lap. Lieke Klaver was a powerwoman, making up lost ground, running from 4th position on the outside all up to the front runners at the handover. Respect!
The more often I see this, the better it gets. Putting Klaver in as second runner was a golden decision! But Femke? Ah... Femke! Sports woman of the year! That steal... so beautiful!

Now she was controlled behind the front runners, they were trying to extend, and in the past 100 Bol just put it in 6th gear and was gaining. Agreed I didn’t expect the gold, but silver was always there.
First 200 meters in was thinking no bronze its gonna be but that last 200 mtrs she was stalking a prey, you could see she was hunting. Epic performance

For the rest you have to work or find good paying sponsors. In Italy they pay 25.000,- € for a gold medal. In Germany 6000,-. It's like always. They expect world class but they only pay peanuts.

They do get lots of additional support (training facilities, equipment, counseling etc) through their respectice sport federations and through the Dutch Olympic Committee.
I don't know what British athletes get paid. Dina Asher Smith was advertising muller yogurt for a while. But our national lottery supports our Olympic sportspeople a lot.

I watched this in a Bar in Graz, on my feet, cheering wildly for the Dutch, didn't think they would quite manage it, but once that baton was passed to Fantabulous Femke, that was it, Never in doubt. I reckon I've watched this pretty much every day since last September, simply Brilliant by the Dutch Ladies x
It looks that way because Bol is very tall (6 ft +/1.84 m). Running speed is a function of step frequency and step length. It is well known that the average stride length and step length increases with height.
Bol's unbelievable come back ( and the adj is misvalueing) drove the Oranges up in the history of track& field, a pity for Jamaica's gals but that's the competition at Top level and the US superpower is in mourn as usual when they lose...😁 Many many many congrats from 🇮🇹

@@nikolauswolff5791I am pretty sure Dutch athletes do not get 6000 euro a month from the state. Athletes with Olympic or topsport status get funding but that is nowhere near that amount. They do get lots of additional support (training facilities, equipment, counseling etc) through their respectice sport federations and through the Dutch Olympic Committee.
I don't know what British athletes get paid. Dina Asher Smith was advertising muller yogurt for a while. But our national lottery supports our Olympic sportspeople a lot.
The joy of the Dutch is wonderful. Great to see. Other teams need to come over and offer their congratulations.

I watched this in a Bar in Graz, on my feet, cheering wildly for the Dutch, didn't think they would quite manage it, but once that baton was passed to Fantabulous Femke, that was it, Never in doubt. I reckon I've watched this pretty much every day since last September, simply Brilliant by the Dutch Ladies x

It looks that way because Bol is very tall (6 ft +/1.84 m). Running speed is a function of step frequency and step length. It is well known that the average stride length and step length increases with height.
The speed she produced yesterday at the Olympics (4x400m mixed relay) was even more impressive. It was groundhog day. 😅🇳🇱🧡
She did the exact same thing in Pars 2024 Olympic yesterday and won gold.

Femke Bol ist einfach fantastisch! Wie sie auf den letzten Metern die anderen Läuferinnen überholt, die bis dahin mit Abstand die Schnellsten im Feld waren, ist unglaublich! Femke wirkt dabei völlig locker, sie lächelt sogar. Die Videos von diesem Lauf habe ich bestimmt schon 50 oder 100 mal angeschaut und bekomme nicht genug davon, werde sie sicher noch sehr oft anschauen. Femke, du bist ein echtes "Wunderkind"!
