@@welyaldr This should be enough to lay the tile on. Schluter-Ditra is a different system. You shouldn’t have to do both. The Schluter system is also a good method.
Tile man for over 30 years...Good suggestions..I love Red guard and the Mapei Aqua defense...Although I favor the Aqua because of the color...Those cracks were severe...I'd be more worried about their causes...I hate knee pads too...:)
Thanks for the feedback. I wear the knee pads most of the time, but still don’t like them too. The cracks look worst in the video because I highlighted them with a marker so they could be seen easier. The floors are level between them. Thanks again.
It’s been little over 2 years and there are no cracks in the new tile. I used the same product when I tiled my sunroom about two months ago. It’s easy to use.
I don’t know if Redguard can be used for that. I read there is a product called PerfectPrimer that can be used to seal the black mastic and then you can tile over it. I would look up that product and see if it will work for your situation.
I have no faith in the Redguard. If you put thinset then the mesh and then thinset it does the same. It’s the mesh that sheilds the crack transfer, similar to an uncoupling membrane but not as good. My issue is if the concrete isn’t cracked and you coat with Redguard and then the concrete cracks it will crack the Redguard and the tile. (Great video though) thanks
Please advice
Is this enough to lay the ceramic tile, or do I still need the Schluter-Ditra uncoupling membrane? It's quite expensive."

@@FixItDepot :)...The marker made them look wide...Damn optical illusions...:)...Good health and freedom to you and yours...
What type of Thinset did you use over the redgard? Modified or unmodified?
I used the Versabond-LFT modified thin set from Home Depot. More expensive but probably better than the cheaper stuff.
@@FixItDepot thank you for your reply. Going to use it myself.
Any updates? Has this stood up to time?

Can I apply Redgard over black mastic in order to apply thinset for tiles successfully?
