This is partly why I love you guys so much, if somethings wrong you check into it and if its your fault you are straight up honest about it, many ppl would of blamed the grout and told everyone how bad it was without looking into it. The floor looks great , im officially blind so small detail is oblivious to me lol And like you said no one's gonna be laying on the bathroom floor lol

Love your "detective work" and reaching out to the company for answers. I did an "easy🤔" tile job with 1'×1' tiles over a very large area once. "Once" being the key word!😆 I have steered away from any tile work since. It turned out really good but it was a lot of hard work,(400 sq. ft.).You have done an awesome job on all your tile jobs, even the bathroom that gave you a fit!! I think it looks awesome!! Thanks for the info for any future DIYers doing tile! This is very good information!! Have a blessed weekend!

It’s so nice to see honest people showing their mistakes vs only posting success videos. I’m sometimes down when I fail at a diy project, but can’t seem to understand that many people also fail or struggle as well and only post videos of them get the job done without hiccups. Thank you for sharing, I’m about to grout a bedroom.

Basically. If a small repair. Mix about 1/2 cup of water and maybe a teaspoon of the grout mix. It won’t easily mix together. So stir stir stir. Then add more powder and stir stir stir until it’s the consistency of toothpaste.

Very helpful. I spread this grout today. I barely had time to spread and clean. Amazingly he grout was very loose when I started, I'm guessing I had just 35 minutes. And was it work! Every single grout job from past was the most pleasing work of the job. This time....the most frustrating! I don't think I'll take the risk using this "FA" type going forward. Again thank you for sharing.

That is a beautiful tile! 💕💕 I have been waiting for the installation. So glad you are ok with it. I would be on my knees for hours with a dremel tool smoothing out high spots and pits. Then restaining the grout 😂😂😂. It does look beautiful though. I can see why you picked out that tile. I love all the antique looks you have chosen. Happy renovating 💕💕

Only you will see the imperfections. It looks good from a distance and the tile is beautiful. Good thing to share with your viewers. If it were me I would try a dremel sanding drum to smooth out the bumps. It would be tedious, but when might be worth trying in an inconspicuous area.

I wanted to say thank you. I was about 8 hours away from mixing that exact grout for my kitchen and I was definitely going for the drill and paddle. For what it’s worth, I’m not happy it comes from your misfortune, but your video did SOME good.
My advice to you would be to spend an hour or two blending and cleaning up the bad spots and the floor will look like a million dollars. It already looks great. The good thing about a floor is that it’s all the way down there! We are our own worst critics. The only person that floor will bother is you. And that’s only if you let it. We live and learn. Life’s too short. Put your arm around your squeeze, laugh and enjoy yourselves. We’re only here ten minutes!

The floor looks great, the grout texture will add anti slip to your floor and that is a very positive thing to have. You dont want to be slip sliding all over the place. Interesting the drill mix over hand mix. So if you speed mix it you introduce very small air bubbles and as this stuff cures in air..... well its what you showed. Thanks for the update and Ashley did a wonderful job on cleaning up, I knew that she could fix it for you, well done both of you. Thanks for posting

It’s a similar thing with plaster of Paris. I recently installed fibrous plaster cornice and by watching various tutorials I learned that key to successful installation is mixing the plaster of Paris adhesive, use only cold water and very slow mixing process to provide a longer work-time.

Fast forward to last weekend and my wife brought home this grout for our laundry room project. After seeing your video, I decided to go for it. Both great tips, that ultracolor fa plus is some tricky stuff. Always use cold clean water, you don't wait for it to temper like regular grout or mortar. I do mix with a mixer but just until it's incorporated.

I'm glad you found out what happened, I saw a video from Stud Pack that they stated the same thing with their's and I didn't even correlate it

Case in point...you HAVE to know what you're doing...there are so many things to consider when tiling. Thank you for your honest review. I've learned from your video.

Thanks for making this video! I was handed a bag of MAPEI grout at the L L Local L L home store, but am not a professional grout or tile man. I would have used a high speed mixer as shown on the bag as well, but I thought to myself, let's see if there are any tips or hinderances in using this grout, your video has just saved me a lot of angst and frustration! Thank YOU!!!
