Is it normal That you never Switch gears? Are you Not allowed to shift?

you are allowed to shift, but for lower power classes, it keeps it simple to gear the car for only 1 start gear and 1 race gear (normally 1st and 2nd) some higher power classes change sometimes from 2nd to 3rd etc
