what wire would you use to extended the push button or finger/code panel? ive read 18/2 but cant seem to find any at my local home improvement stores

18/2 is great. You can use sprinkler wire it is easy to get and it is inexpensive

you can use multi conductor wire. more expensive though

How would you connect a 12v battery back up to this
