  • A mag lock, (also known as a mag-lock, magnetic lock, or electromagnetic lock), is an advanced piece of security hardware commonly used in commercial settings that operate off of a simple scientific principle: electromagnetism.
    So What is a Mag Lock exactly? A mag lock consists of two pieces of hardware, an electromagnetic flux, and a heavy steel plate. When powered, the flux pulls on the plate which is attached to the door, securing the entrance with a force of several hundred to over a thousand pounds!
    Uriah with Guardian Safe & Lock breaks down these devices further, helping to better understand these intimidating pieces of hardware for those outside of the industry or lacking experience with them.

    Mag locks are one of the more interesting types of security hardware to deal with, but many people aren't entirely sure how they work or why they're installed. What did you think of Uriah's explanation? Do you have any other topics you'd like him to cover? Let us know here in the comments!

    Great overview! Would like to see install someday. Building permits let the city know not only code restrictions, but what to expect for police and fire departments. Thanks

      Yeah we’re working on getting more videos of on-site access control projects. It’s tough because I have to dedicate multiple days in the field to such a long recoding process. Usually it’s a 2-3 day install on most access control projects, but we will be making one soon. - Uriah

    Question: what are the most secure padlocks that use mag locks?

    • @GuardianSafeAndLock
      @GuardianSafeAndLock  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!! It took awhile but we are now at least monetized lol. I’m not sure what you mean because padlocks and maglocks are different. Are you asking what padlock types are the best and what maglocks have the best quality?

      Really, I wasn’t aware that Securitron products all had a lifetime warranty. That’s good to know, especially since it’s a relatively inexpensive brand. Thanks for watching HKS and thank you for the continued support! - Uriah

    Add information about the reliability of the Mag Lock vs other electronic controlled locks. Our company's electronic panic bars have been problematic and currently mostly do not work. A Mag Lock with no moving parts might solve that problem? Also, how much power does a Mag Lock draw so the added cost can be considered.

    Hi Uriah, I really need some help Bro. I want to purchase a lock that I can press manually from my store counter that I can open for my customers. Which lock should I purchase? I have a single swing door.

    Hii, nice review. Quick question, can a buzzer be added to a Mag Lock system? So that way the person coming in knows they are being buzzed in?

    • @GuardianSafeAndLock
